Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 Introduction to Fullbring

"So... the two of you still can't release your abilities on your own?"

Yoh Asakura looked speechlessly at the expressionless Yasutora Sado and the scratching-her-head-and-grinning Orihime Inoue.

"Riruka, Yukio, what exactly did you two teach them?"

"Huh?! I've never learned that kind of thing, so how should I know how to teach it!"

Riruka Dokugamine said, squinting at the TV while eating a donut.

"Ditto." Yukio poured his complete lack of interest into his tone, his attention almost entirely focused on the PSP in his hands.

"Sigh... fine, I'll do it. At least one of you use your ability to help us set up a training ground? We can't exactly practice Fullbring here in the middle of the base, can we?"

Riruka and Yukio pointed at each other simultaneously; this was the only time they ever showed such coordination.

"You two, honestly..."

Out of the corner of his eye, Yoh saw Orihime Inoue drooling over Riruka's donuts, and an idea suddenly struck him.

"Riruka, don't you love cute things? What do you think of this?"

Yoh placed his hands on Orihime's shoulders and pushed her in front of Riruka.

"Huh?! Are you an idiot? I..."

Orihime opened her jewel-like eyes wide, staring at the donuts on the plate like a small animal begging to be fed, a long trail of drool hanging from the corner of her mouth.

"Wh-what are you looking at? There's none for you here!"

Just as Riruka finished speaking, she saw pitiful tears welling up in Orihime's eyes as if her world were ending.

"You... fine, you can only have one!"

"Really! Thank you, Little Riruka!"

"Who gave you permission to call me that! You've got some nerve!"

"You can call me Little Orihime too."

"I'm not complaining because it's unfair that only you can call me that! Are you an elementary schooler!?"

"Mmm! This is so delicious!"

"She's actually ignoring me..."

After a bit of a fuss, Riruka finally agreed to use her ability to help with their training (mostly because she was intimidated by Orihime).

"So, what exactly is Little Riruka's ability? How is it going to help us train?"

Riruka had already given up on correcting the way she was addressed. Exhausted, she rubbed her thumb and forefinger together and slapped a heart-shaped mark onto the chests of Yoh, Tatsuki, Sado, and Orihime.

"[DOLL HOUSE]—"

"My Fullbring allows people or things to freely enter and exit objects that I find 'super cute' or 'super love'."

"Those marks on your chests are your passes. Alright, you've been granted permission. Get in there."

As Riruka spoke, she pointed to a dollhouse sitting on the table.

"Something that small..."

Before Tatsuki Arisawa could finish her sentence, the four of them were suddenly distorted and sucked directly into the toy house.

"Eh!? This is... inside that box from before?"

Tatsuki looked around at the space, surrounded by various toys that were larger than she was, wondering if she had been transported into a fairy tale.

Orihime also dove happily into a pile of plushies, suddenly feeling enveloped in happiness.

'Fullbring... to think it could even do something like this...'

Yasutora Sado looked at his arm, his mind lost in thought.

"Is this enough? I'm leaving you to it then. Give me a shout when you want to come out."

The roof was suddenly lifted, revealing a giant face to the four of them.

"Little Riruka is so cute!"

Orihime shouted in surprise, looking at Riruka, who appeared countless times larger in her vision.

"Usually, people would use the opposite description for this! Hmph!"

Riruka turned her head away and lowered the roof, but her cheeks were slightly flushed, clearly enjoying the compliment.

"Won over already?" Yukio remarked without even looking up.

"Shut up, Yukio!"

Hearing the shout, Yukio looked up at Riruka with a strange expression. He slowly pulled off one side of his headphones and looked at her in confusion.

"Did you call me?"

"..."

Riruka remained silent, her face turning redder by the second.

...

"Actually, what Riruka said just now is correct. Fullbring isn't something you need to learn. For you, it should be something closer to an instinct."

Yoh said this to Orihime and Sado, while Tatsuki wandered around out of boredom.

"Like I said before, Fullbring is a power of 'love'. By drawing out the power of things you deeply love, you control the soul of the object and change its form."

"Yasutora, what was on your mind when you first used your ability? What do you think the medium for your transformation is?"

Sado looked at his right hand, his voice low.

"Is it... my arm? No... maybe... my skin?"

Since he was a child, Sado had often been targeted because his skin was darker than others, but he had never felt inferior because of it. His grandfather had told him that his body was a gift from God, so he felt proud of everything about it.

While he was thinking, Sado's right arm began to glow with a faint light. When the light faded, his arm was no longer in its original state.

"Wow! That's amazing, Sado-kun!" Orihime clapped for Sado.

"See? It's simple, right? Next is Inoue. Your medium should be..."

Yoh was about to say something when he saw the snowflake hairpins on Orihime's head already emitting the light of Fullbring.

"Uh..."

The light faded, and six small figures appeared, hovering around Orihime's head.

"Heh, so this is Orihime's ability? Flying dwarves?" Tatsuki jogged over to observe when she saw Orihime using her power.

"Who are you calling flying dwarves!?"

A tiny figure dressed in black with a mask on his face shouted at Tatsuki.

"Stupid woman! How dare you give up halfway last time! And it's been so long since you've called us! Not even for a battle!!"

As the tiny figure ranted, he found himself snatched into someone's palm.

"How dare you hit your master? You're quite arrogant for such a little guy."

Tatsuki looked down at the tiny figure in her hand with a look of disdain.

"You bastard! Let go of me!"

...

Afterward, Yoh briefly explained how to train their Fullbring. It was actually quite simple: just use it more.

Fullbring is different from the powers of a Soul Reaper or a Hollow. Its strength is determined not by Spiritual Pressure, but by proficiency.

Finally, Yoh turned his gaze toward Tatsuki Arisawa, making her feel inexplicably nervous.
