Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Spirit Visibility

System, open the exchange shop.

Jiang He looked at his 800 Emotion Points and sent a command to the system.

[System Shop (Refreshes every two days; four items available per cycle)]

Today's Selection:

1. [Deck: Cyber Dragon (Zane Truesdale Version)] – 500 Points

2. [Deck: Gravekeeper's (Toxic Version)] – 1000 Points

3. [Deck: Lava Golem (Burn/Stall Version)] – 1000 Points

4. [Skill: Duel Spirit Vision] – 2000 Points

They actually have the Duel Spirit Vision! Jiang He's eyes lit up.

Even though it was only the basic version allowing him to see and communicate with Duel Spirits without the power to materialize them or touch them it was still incredibly useful. It was a supernatural ability possessed by only a handful of people in the entire world.

Even Jaden, if Jiang He remembered correctly, only regained this childhood ability after meeting Yugi Muto that morning and receiving Winged Kuriboh.

"2000 points. I'm still 1200 short. I need to find a way to make some points fast," Jiang He muttered to himself.

The shop would refresh in two days. If he missed this chance, there was no telling when the ability would appear again. Fortunately, he still had time. And Duel Academy was the best place in the world to find duels. If all else failed, he had three perfect "tools" right next to him: Jaden, Syrus, and Bastion.

One thing that annoyed him was the point values for the other decks.

As expected of his "stacy" system, the "toxic" decks were twice as expensive as a normal deck!

Zane's Cyber Dragon deck was legendary. Even in its basic form, cards like Power Bond and Limiter Removal could easily pump out monsters with over 16,000 ATK. It was more than enough to crush most duelists in this world.

Yet the system only charged 500 points for it... while the two "tilt-inducing" decks were 1000 points each.

"Wow! Look at that view! The ocean is amazing!"

"Is that the island where the academy is?"

Jaden and Syrus's excited voices broke Jiang He out of his thoughts. He looked out the window. Below them was a vast, azure sea, and in the distance sat a solitary island.

The back of the island was a barren landscape of brown rock and a smoking volcano. The front, however, was lush and green, dotted with high-tech buildings and beautiful waterfalls. It was a striking contrast.

"It looks even better than it did in the anime," Jiang He noted with a nod. Life on an island wouldn't be bad at all. Plus, Duel Academy provided all housing and meals. He had arrived in this world with zero cash, so these benefits were exactly what he needed.

"I'm getting more and more pumped!" Jaden cheered.

"I can't wait to see what it's like inside," Syrus added.

Looking at them, Jiang He wondered if he should break the news. They were in for a rude awakening. Duel Academy was strictly divided into three ranks, and the treatment for each was vastly different.

The helicopter landed, and the students were led into a massive lecture hall. A bald man the principal of the academy gave a brief speech of encouragement.

Then, dorm assignments were announced based on entrance scores.

"Assigned to Slifer Red as expected," Jiang He sighed, looking at the red jacket and student PDA in his hand.

The academy was divided into three ranks: Obelisk Blue, Ra Yellow, and Slifer Red. While Jiang He had defeated Crowler with full Life Points, he had never taken the written exam because he hadn't transmigrated yet. A zero on the written portion had dragged his average down. Plus, the petty Crowler had likely pulled some strings to ensure he ended up in the bottom tier.

Still, at least he had some company.

He looked over at Jaden and Syrus, who were happily checking their data on their PDAs. If he wanted to find opponents and bring them "tilt-inducing smiles," being in Slifer Red wasn't a bad choice at all.
