Kael's POV
He was already on the fourth floor when I arrived, which had become our regular thing for every Thursday mornings and afternoons. I had stopped noting that as a variable at a point and started treating it as a thing of normalcy. The same way the fence post was a part of the room and there was the quality of the light through the high windows, another quality the room possessed.
He was running the sword sequence, slightly different from the dagger sequence but in the specific way I had taught him.
The only difference between the session two weeks ago and this one was visible in the first thirty seconds. His grip had settled. His weight distribution had been updated as well. His footwork was compensating less, which meant he was doing exactly what he was supposed to do rather than covering for whatever technique he hadn't finished mastering yet.
I sat against the fence post and simply watched him.
