Edward spent the moments I was conscious arguing with me to distract me from the pain. It was surprisingly comforting.
A few hours later, we were found.
"Hey! The missing students are in here!" Someone called out, waking both Edward and i from our sleep.
Relief should've been the first thing I felt, but instead, the pain hit me like a truck. Every nerve in my body screamed, reminding me just how much I'd been through.
It hurt like holy hell.
"Little shaman?!" I heard Lucas scream.
"Here!" I yelped.
Lucas rushed into view, and boy did he look absolutely awful. His hair was plastered to his face from the rain, his clothes soaked through, his chest heaving with frantic, shallow breaths. His eyes weren't just glowing gold anymore; they were burning with a predatory intensity, the kind of look a predator gives when it realizes its food had been cornered by a rival. He looked feral.
