Evelyn turned a blind eye to the looming structure of the Villa, walking straight past him. But as she crossed his path, she was stopped by a sharply annoyed voice: "Stop right there!"
She froze, her face entirely devoid of expression. After all, this was his domain; when standing under another man's roof, one had no choice but to bow one's head.
"Did I give you permission to just walk in?" Michael turned on his heel and stepped beside her, looking down at her cold, unreadable face, his mood instantly souring even further.
Suppressing the bitter emotions in her chest, Evelyn spoke in a flat, distant tone: "Mr. Thorn, since you despise the very sight of me, why do you go out of your way to look for me?"
The man let out a disdainful sneer. "What? Are you implying I shouldn't be standing in my own house?"
