Chapter 4 - Lunch

Jay's POV

The drive home felt different this time — calm, peaceful, the sky painted with streaks of gold. I leaned against Keifer's shoulder, closing my eyes for a moment as the hum of the car and the warmth of his hand in mine settled everything inside me.

"You sure you're ready to face everyone?" he asked softly, glancing down at me with a teasing smile.

"If I survived you, I can survive them," I said, smirking.

"Ouch," he teased, feigning a pout. "Harsh, wifey."

As the mansion came into view, my chest filled with a mix of joy and nerves. The gates opened slowly, the familiar garden glowing under the afternoon light. Keifer parked, stepped out, and, as always, circled to my side to open the door — his hand steady, grounding.

We walked in together. The second the door opened, Tita Gemma rushed toward us like a whirlwind.

"Oh, my darling!" she exclaimed, hugging me tight and pulling Keifer in too. "Anak, how are you feeling now?"

"Much better, Tita," I said, smiling softly.

"Good! Sit, sit!" She gently pushed me toward the sofa. "I'll prepare some lunch — you two must be starving!"

"Thank you, Tita," I said, laughing as Keifer shot me a small grin.

"She's something else," he whispered.

"You've seen nothing yet," I whispered back with a wink.

A moment later, footsteps came from the stairs. Horoscope appeared, cheerful as ever, his hair all messy and his smile way too bright for a normal human.

"Hey, Jay! Hey, Keifer!" he greeted, throwing himself onto one of the armchairs. "Angelo left early this morning on a business trip. He'll be back in a few weeks."

"Oh?" I said, raising an eyebrow. "No dramatic shouting before he left?"

"Surprisingly, no," Horoscope said dramatically. "I think aliens took him."

Before I could respond, the mouth‑watering aroma of food filled the room. Tita Gemma came in, balancing trays piled high with Lechon, rice, boiled eggs, hotdogs, and way more dishes than we could finish.

"Eat, eat! Don't be shy!" she said, setting everything down like a feast.

"Tita," Keifer laughed, "did you feed the whole village too?"

"You think I don't know how much boys like you eat?" she teased back, wagging a finger at him.

We started digging in immediately, talking, laughing, and soaking up the comfort of being together again. It felt… perfect — loud, chaotic, but home.

That peace lasted all of five minutes before the front door flew open.

"GUYS!!"

Percy burst through, practically glowing with excitement. "I missed you all!"

And before anyone could react, he tackled both Aries and Keifer into a dramatic group hug.

"Did you miss me, Aries baby?" he squealed.

"NO! Get off me!" Aries yelled, struggling as Percy showered them both with slobbery kisses on their cheeks.

Keifer looked horrified. "Why does he taste like lip balm?!"

I couldn't stop laughing as Percy finally released them, twirling dramatically. "You're all so grumpy! Baby sista — they're bullying me!" he whined, fake crying as he threw himself beside me.

"Percy, you're hopeless," I said between laughs.

But the second he spotted the food, his tears vanished. He lunged for the table, piling food onto a plate like he hadn't eaten in years.

While everyone was distracted by the chaos, I quietly slid my fork toward Keifer's plate and swiped a piece of Lechon. Then I went for Aries's. I was about to savor the victory when—

"Hey!" Aries caught my wrist mid‑air, eyes wide with mock outrage. "Jay! That's mine!"

I froze, holding the stolen bite. "Oops?"

"Seriously?" Aries groaned. "You already stole from Keifer!"

"Sharing is caring," I said sweetly.

Keifer chuckled beside me. "Told you, she's the quiet thief of the family."

"Quiet my— ugh," Aries muttered, still handing me the food anyway. "Fine. Take it before I change my mind."

I grinned brightly. "See? You do love me."

"Yeah, yeah," he said, rolling his eyes but smiling all the same.

Keifer leaned in close, whispering near my ear, his voice low enough that only I could hear. "You're cute when you're sneaky, wifey."

I nudged him lightly with my elbow. "Don't encourage me."

"Too late," he whispered, smirking.

The laughter and noise swirled around us again — Percy humming happily through mouthfuls of food, Aries pretending to sulk, Tita fussing over everyone's plates. It was messy, loud, absolutely chaotic… and I loved every second of it.

For the first time in what felt like forever, being home didn't feel heavy — it felt full. It smelled like Lechon and hot rice, sounded like laughter and family, and right beside me, Keifer's hand brushed mine under the table — steady, quiet, real.

This was home.
