In as much as the whole situation had nothing to do with her, Tessa still noticed the expression on Zephyr's face. It was dark, filled with irritation and restrained rage. She didn't know if he was still upset because of the game earlier or if something else had happened entirely, but his mood was impossible to miss.
"It's just a game. You all shouldn't worry about it," Tessa said out loud, hoping to lighten the atmosphere.
The men around her glanced away awkwardly. Most of them had already finished eating, yet none of them were leaving. They sat around the open space, digesting their meals while enjoying the evening breeze and each other's company. The settlement was unusually calm, with the orange glow of sunset stretching across the sky.
Zephyr suddenly stood up the moment her voice reached him.
Without saying a single word, he turned and walked away toward the path leading to the lake.
Tessa's jaw dropped.
Was he seriously ignoring her now?
