Chapter 20 - Make It Happen

However, how could it be? How could Christopher be there? He wasn't from that company. It wasn't possible.

Janice thought about it for a while and found it impossible. Then she said, "It was a good day."

Seeing her relaxed expression, Christopher was relieved.

Early the next morning, Janice went to the TV station to clock in. Just as she was about to leave to continue her surveillance of Techno Tower, she met Lucy, who had just come in.

"Janice, where are you going?"

Lucy glanced at the camera she held.

Janice was confused. "Aren't we going to Techno Tower?"

Lucy was stunned. "How dare you go again today?"

"What's wrong?" Hearing Lucy's question, Janice was puzzled.

Lucy frowned. "They said they would call the police to arrest us if we showed our faces again. Aren't you afraid of being caught?"

Janice was confused. What was it about calling the police to arrest them? Weren't they fine yesterday?

She ate and drank, and even got to nap, covered with a blanket. It was all so pleasant.

Why did they suddenly want to call the police to arrest them? "Lucy, weren't they hospitable to you yesterday?" Janice asked in confusion.

Lucy's face was full of ridicule. "What kind of hospitality? Janice, you must have had heatstroke. When have field reporters like us been treated nicely? It's considered good if they don't chase us out of the building!"

Janice, on the other hand, had a look of disbelief on her face. What had happened yesterday?

She thought Lucy would receive the same treatment as her, but she didn't expect it to be like this.

So, why did those people treat her that way?

Were they playing nice as a tactic?

While she was wondering, Lucy added, "I think it's better if we don't follow it anymore. Although it's big news, time's limited and we can't afford to drag. Look, Linda has been squatting there for more than half a month, and she has nothing to

show for it. Besides, there's not much time before the end of the month. If we continue to waste time like this, we won't be able to meet the appraisal standard for this month."

Janice thought about it and agreed. After all, she had stayed there for a whole day yesterday. Although she was enjoying the delicious food and drinks, there was no mention of the interview at all. It seemed that the star had no intention of granting an interview.

If she went there again, he probably would not be so polite this time.

Thinking of this, Janice had no choice but to give up.

However, it was getting closer to the end of the month. Her quantity of news articles was not enough to merit a good appraisal. What should she do?

If she didn't pass, she would lose her bonus. That was a large sum of money, which she could do a lot of things with. Plus, she needed to support Christopher.

The more Janice thought about it, the more agitated she felt.

When she got home in the evening, she threw herself on the sofa.

Seeing how frustrated she was, Christopher walked over and asked, "What's wrong?"

Janice then sat up and said, "It's the new star who we wanted to interview. After following him for a few days, I got nothing out of it."

Hearing her depressed tone, Christopher frowned.

"Is that interview very important to you?"

Janice shook her head. "No, it's not like that. The main reason is that we haven't met the appraisal standard for this quarter. I thought of using this big news to hit the target, but I didn't expect it to fail like this."

After listening to Janice's explanation, Christopher understood.

That night, he called Rob.

"Find a way to get some news."

On the other side of the phone, Rob was puzzled. He couldn't just conjure up a news story out of nowhere.

However, it was Mr. Bateman's instruction. No matter what, he had to make it happen.

...

The next morning, Janice reported to the TV station as usual. As soon as she sat down, Lucy stretched out her head.

"Janice, what are you going to do? You still lack so many news articles."

As soon as the appraisal was brought up, Janice's mind went blank and she panicked.

Although there were many popular topics in today's society, there were very few newsworthy headline articles. News was limited, and there were so many reporters, it was even more difficult to grab good pieces.

As Janice was worrying, an unidentified phone call came in.

"I'll take a call first."

After excusing herself from Lucy, she got up and walked out of the door.

"I'm Janice Gladwell. May I know who you are?"

A man's voice came from the other end of the phone. "I want to give an anonymous tip-off."

Upon hearing this, Janice immediately perked up and quickly wrote down the address.

In the end, she thanked him repeatedly before hanging up the phone. She returned to her seat with a smile on her face.

Lucy asked in confusion, "Why are you so happy?"

Janice said with a smile, "Just now, I received an anonymous phone call. The caller mentioned some clues to a piece of news. I have to go out."

Lucy warned her, "You have to be careful. There are many scammers now."

Janice picked up her things and said, "Don't worry, I will be careful."

As she spoke, she carried her things and left.

Soon, she arrived at the address of the tip-off, Tomaville International Hotel.

Janice held the camera and paused at the door. She looked up at the words and walked in.

In order not to expose her identity as a reporter, she deliberately hid the camera in her backpack.

However, when she entered, she found that there was no one to stop her. Could it be that the parties involved weren't scared of being exposed?

Thinking of this, Janice followed the room number provided by the caller and found it.

Sure enough, as soon as she came out of the elevator, she saw that it was crowded with onlookers.

"You bitch, how dare you to seduce my husband! I'll tear you apart."

"Help, help!"

As soon as Janice walked over, she heard shouting.

She quickly took out her camera and snapped photos.

This kind of social news where the wife caught a mistress was quite popular, not to mention that the main character was well-known.

Kent Roger, a well- known cultural figure in Tomaville. On the surface, he seemed decent, but on the other hand, he was cheating behind his wife's back. His mistress was so young she could have passed off as his daughter.

Just the right kind of tabloid story fodder she needed.

Janice quickly finished taking photos of the scene. In order not to be discovered, she quickly put away her camera and turned to leave.

"Stop."

Janice suddenly had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, she heard someone behind her asking, "Who are you? What photos did you take just now?"

Janice instantly felt that things were not going well, so she ran.

"Stop!"

Someone immediately chased after her.

She was about to shake off the man behind, but she didn't expect several people to appear in front of her.

The man in the lead looked like he was in his twenties. He was imposing and dignified, followed by a group of bodyguards. He seemed to be someone powerful.

Seeing that there were people, Janice quickly stopped running and pretended to be strolling.

But as they passed by each other, the man in the lead suddenly stopped and looked in her direction.

"Wait."

Janice was stunned and thought in a panic, "He can tell that I am a reporter? Oh no, what should I do? With so many men, I've no chance of getting out of here scot-free!"
