Chapter 416 - 416

"What an ugly thing. It has no research value at all." Eddie Cai observed it for a moment, then flicked his hand, tossing the Fungus Beast's ashes away.

Buzz! At that moment, a large number of bees infected by the mycelium flew over, some as large as car tires.

Sharp, cold-gleaming stingers flashed on their tails. One sting could be fatal!

Ada, however, impolitely pulled out a cigarette and lit it, floating in the air on her high heels, her beautiful eyes looking at the bees with a hint of disdain.

Sienna also slowly lit a cigarette. The two beautiful secret agents smoked together, watching their husband busy himself.

Without the enhancement of the serum, even obtaining superhuman strength comparable to Wesker's, dealing with these monsters would still be very tricky.

Fungus Beasts are not as simple as they appear on the surface; they won't die no matter how much they are bombarded, unless their central control core is hit.

At the same time, separated mycelium is infectious. Parasitizing a host, it can devour organs in just ten minutes, turning a fresh flesh-and-blood creature into a new Fungus Beast.

Eddie Cai's advancement is cheating; he's incomparable to normal people.

He feels no shame in using a cheat enabled by his own intelligence and talent.

In the mine tunnel on the other side, a group of armed personnel began their advance. This was a Shén Yà Pharmaceutical branch team that had been observing for a long time.

Cooperating with them, but splitting into two paths, were the mercenaries from Glory Pharmaceutical's HCF Company.

Both sides encountered Fungus Beasts. After these Fungus Beasts were killed, they writhed on the ground and began to reorganize.

The mercenaries didn't notice this, still engaging with General Morgan's men inside the mine.

The next second, an unexpected change occurred: the clothes of one team member burst open, his body already covered by mycelium. The man was devoured into a new Fungus Beast while still screaming, and immediately attacked his nearby teammates.

Sharp claws sliced a mercenary, along with his bulletproof vest, into two halves. His combat power had suddenly risen by more than one level!

"Something's wrong! Watch out! Ah!" Just as the captain finished speaking, he was split in two, his head flying high. He could see that the vice-captains on his left and right had already turned into Fungus Beasts and begun slaughtering everyone!

As darkness overcame him, this Shén Yà Pharmaceutical mercenary captain reached his end and died completely.

The two groups, totaling nearly thirty people, were completely wiped out!

The combat data of the Fungus Beasts is incomparable to that of zombies; they are much more sinister and unpredictable!

Chapter 647: Rescuing People, Zoe

Highly infectious, difficult to defend against, and possessing tenacious vitality—these are the characteristics of the new type of virus. Not everyone is named Ethan, and not everyone is the protagonist.

Ethan is so formidable entirely because he was in the early stages of maternal infection. Hosts infected by the original mycelium gain superhuman physiques in a short period.

He's like One-Punch Man, smashing car doors with a single punch and recovering health simply by washing his hands. This is entirely due to the mycelium and has nothing to do with hand sanitizer.

However, if infected by the mycelium parasitizing an ordinary Fungus Beast, one won't be so lucky.

They can only watch helplessly as the mycelium devours their cells and muscles, turning them into a monster!

When Eddie Cai leveled the greenhouse, he discovered a house not far from it, and an abandoned RV was parked in the house's courtyard.

"It seems Stephanie is there. Let's go see what your Zoe looks like." Ada teased, her beautiful eyes sparkling with amusement.

"Cough, cough. What do you mean 'mine'? I was just commissioned to come here and save someone." Eddie Cai wouldn't admit it; admitting it would mean falling for the trap.

Stephanie was still smoking inside the RV, looking out the window. "Look, your house got torn down! Hehe, that's my Dad's masterpiece. My Dad is really amazing."

"Your Dad? Since when did Eddie Cai have a daughter this old?" Zoe asked in surprise. It was impossible; she couldn't have grown so fast even with hormones.

"Times have changed. Shortening the growth cycle is what the era demands. You'll find out later, so don't get smug." Stephanie scoffed. If it weren't for Marguerite, she wouldn't reveal these secrets.

Once this secret is told to someone, they are either an ally or a dead person!

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I was just a little surprised; it's quite unbelievable." Zoe said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"It's fine, you'll have to go through it eventually. By the way, what are your thoughts on having children?" Stephanie suddenly asked, blowing smoke rings, her beautiful eyes flickering.

"Huh? I... I don't know. It must be painful." Zoe didn't understand. She hadn't even dated; asking her about childbirth was completely beyond her.

"Alright. Do you have any other relatives? Your brother Lucas is a pervert. He wouldn't happen to be a frequent visitor to the Orthopedics Department, would he?" Stephanie suddenly thought of something and started teasing.

"What Orthopedics Department? I don't know, but Father often beats him up, usually because he either collapses the house or causes some other disaster. He has killed people, more than one, I know all this, but I didn't tell anyone because he is still my nominal brother, and I don't really like him." Zoe explained.

It is extremely difficult to prioritize justice over family loyalty. How many people in this world can actually do that?

Such crazy plots probably only appear in novels and TV dramas.

"Anyway, your brother is a disgusting guy, and you aren't exactly a good person either. I heard you kindly tried to save others? I'm warning you now, don't pull that stunt. It will put you in danger, and we'll be implicated along with you. Discard your unnecessary kindness, think more about yourself; saving the world is not your job." Stephanie advised.

"I can't just stand by and watch people die!" Zoe retorted.

"The question is, do you have the ability to save them? Like you said, back at the school, were you able to save anyone else? No, right? So don't push yourself; it won't do you any good." Stephanie continued to advise. If they weren't going to live together later, she wouldn't bother persuading her; she simply didn't care about the lives of strangers.

"I... I'll try." Zoe was suppressed by Stephanie's aura. She was slightly at a disadvantage and wanted to refute, but a strange feeling kept influencing her.

"Didn't those two guys just die? Has it been two days? It must have. If you hadn't guided them to leave, maybe they would have escaped long ago. You're a murderer! Why didn't you stop Lucas when he was killing people? So, settle down and be a housewife; that's better than anything!" Stephanie smiled cunningly.

Two days prior, Zoe noticed that two previously captured strangers were still unexpectedly alive and trying to escape. She called them and guided them on their way.

The paths around the farm and the keys for leaving were all designed by Lucas and were extremely complex.

There was also a simple door left for Uncle Baker, whose intelligence had declined significantly, to pass through.

Those two people were members of the exploration show 'Sewer Gators': one was the substitute host Peter, and the other was the cameraman Clancy.

Besides the two of them, there was originally one more member who was stabbed to death directly with a pipe by Uncle Baker in the sewer and is now rotting and infested with maggots.

Following Zoe's instructions, the two searched for keys to open the door and went through the stages designed by Lucas. When they were finally about to leave the farm, they were caught by Uncle Baker.

The substitute host Peter was decapitated by Uncle Baker, while Clancy was burned alive by a gasoline trap.

As the helper, Zoe felt a wave of confusion and regret upon seeing the tragic deaths of the two men.

If Stephanie hadn't been standing guard, Zoe would have been captured long ago; there's no way she'd be sitting here safe and sound.

On the other side, Eddie Cai flew to the front of the RV, having already noticed the vehicle.

Stephanie jumped out and gave her father a hug. "Hi, handsome, I completed the mission perfectly. You have to keep your word."

Eddie Cai nodded. "Don't worry, honey, I always keep my word."

Although Eddie Cai was a bit of a scumbag, he was very trustworthy, especially when dealing with his daughter; he was nothing but wonderful.

"Hello, beautiful, we meet again. Marguerite sent me to rescue you. You're safe now, come with me." Eddie Cai smiled at Zoe, who was huddled inside the RV.

"Mother? Mother sent you to save me? Can you save my father and my brother too?" Zoe asked, full of hope.
