"Don't be so concerned about saving face. In my value system, face is not important at all." Samantha waved her hand.
Chapter 575: Aunt Anlra
The city where the branch is located is decent and not too desolate. Coastal areas tend to fare better; where there are seaports, there is trade, providing more ways to earn money compared to the impoverished inland regions.
Sheva was so beautiful. Being a Black woman, her race did not detract from her looks; instead, Eddie found a certain aesthetic beauty in her.
"Welcome. I'm glad you've come to West Africa again." Sheva gave him a friendly hug.
"Thank you. I'm here this time to look for a three-thousand-year-old extinct volcano. I need to excavate some useful items." Eddie didn't stand on ceremony and stated his request directly.
"In that case, I need to look up some information. Why don't you come to my office for a cup of tea and a sit-down?" Sheva invited him.
"Let's go to Aunt Anlra's house. I haven't been there in a while. You wouldn't hold my absence against me, would you?" Eddie chuckled mischievously.
Sheva shook her head. "My vacation time is very flexible. Bio-weapons can't be eradicated anyway; like dust, they will flare up again before long."
"Hi, Daddy! Did you miss me?" Samantha waved her hands, looking very excited.
"Of course I did. Here, this is your gift. Sheva, you have one too!" Eddie took out two gifts: a bottle of perfume and a pistol.
Sheva was a soldier. She would never use perfume; giving her a firearm made her much happier.
"Thank you, I really like your gift!" Sheva unwrapped the package and smiled brightly when she saw the firearm she liked.
With Sheva as the local expert, finding a suitable active volcano would definitely not be a problem.
Before coming to Kijuju, his daughter Elaine had already investigated and confirmed the existence of extinct volcanoes in the surrounding area.
After twenty minutes in the helicopter, they arrived at a bustling oasis town.
In front of a villa with a unique local charm, the simple Aunt Anlra was still cultivating some basic crops. When she saw Eddie, the hardworking woman paused, then burst into a brilliant smile.
"Long time no see!" Eddie laughed.
"It truly has been a long time. How have you been lately?" Aunt Anlra didn't look like the other Black women here; she radiated a healthy glow, like someone who had spent a lot of time in the sun.
"How long are you staying this time?" Aunt Anlra greeted everyone and motioned for them to sit down, pouring some black tea herself.
"I'm here for something and will be staying for a while. Do you know if there are any extinct volcanoes nearby? Volcanoes that have been dormant for a long time." Eddie nodded and asked.
"Volcanoes that have been dormant for a long time? Let me think. I believe so. About three hundred kilometers to the east, there is an active volcano. The area around that volcano used to be entirely active volcanoes. Later, they slowly went dormant and became extinct volcanoes. You might find what you need if you check over there." Aunt Anlra pondered for a moment.
"That far? Then let's rest first. By the way, where is Uncle Kenneth?" Eddie smiled.
Uncle Kenneth was a good man, a truly great man, and an honest person. He was a cuckold who never once suspected how Aunt Anlra gave birth to Samantha.
"He went to that active volcano. Recently, there was a missing persons case there. Apparently, some tribes are kidnapping people to increase their population." Anlra's expression was serious, clearly indicating her hatred for such practices.
The big brothers in Africa can truly make people from other parts of the world feel ashamed when it comes to having children; they are too fertile.
Eddie's expression was strange, but he didn't laugh; only someone lacking emotional intelligence would laugh in this situation. Don't forget, Anlra and Sheva were locals.
"There won't be any danger, will there? There are quite a few conflicts around here. If a war breaks out, the situation could become very dangerous," Eddie warned.
"Anlra had tried to persuade him, but he gets anxious when he has nothing to do at home. He said he was only going to investigate, not fight, and would immediately withdraw if there was danger." Anlra couldn't do anything else. Although she had borne a daughter for Eddie, she didn't treat Kenneth like a husband, but rather as family, like an older brother.
Samantha didn't seem concerned. "He does that often; just get used to it. Do you want to eat baked sweet potatoes for lunch? My baked sweet potatoes are world-class!"
"Jessica, go give her a hand. Don't worry, I'll be fine!" Eddie laughed.
Jessica nodded and walked into the kitchen in her high heels. After giving birth, Jessica appeared more mature, always exuding an intimidating yet gentle aura, like a strict mother, inspiring both awe and fear.
Meanwhile, three hundred meters away at the active volcano, there was a large village with over five thousand people.
Large villages wouldn't normally exist near an active volcano. Eruptions are occasionally accompanied by debris. Sometimes rocks the size of car tires fly out, and if one of those slams down, no one can withstand it!
However, there wasn't a single child in this village. A settlement of five thousand people without a single child—this was absolutely abnormal.
A member of the Western Federation family was directing something in the village. The villagers here looked exactly like those infected by the Type II Las Plagas parasite.
Unlike the previous Plaga victims, these villagers did not appear insane; their eyes were calm. Furthermore, there were no external signs; they looked completely normal.
In the village square, among the dozen or so captured people, was Uncle Kenneth.
Staff members injected them with a reagent. This drug looked somewhat familiar.
Soon, among the dozen people, some burst into flames and turned into cocoons. Others screamed in agony but quickly recovered. However, those who recovered had varying degrees of damage to their faces.
A man in a suit meticulously recorded everything while also taking photos of the scene.
Soon, the cocoon burst open, and a monster that resembled a person, yet wasn't quite human, emerged.
A villager picked up a sledgehammer and, with one swing, completely destroyed the monster, which clearly had not inherited the resilience typical of bio-weapons.
The man in the suit shook his head. "A failed discard!"
It was clear that this unknown volcano village had been controlled. Furthermore, the residents were being manipulated into kidnapping other people for experiments. As for why they were kidnapping, perhaps it was to maintain the original cannon fodder team.
Chapter 576: Sheva's Little Scheme
Among the many people who escaped from Raccoon City back then, most seem to have died, leaving only Chris, Leon, Kevin, and Kenneth alive. Some members of the original S.T.A.R.S. were unfortunate. Jill? Jill must still be alive, but she got married and spends all her time with Eddie; walking is even a problem for her now.
There also seems to be someone named Brad. I haven't paid much attention, but he should still be alive.
Sitting on the plane, Sheva continued to introduce the local customs and culture.
If you don't come to Africa, you truly won't realize how many bizarre cultures exist. Africa has a lot of tribal systems, where the chief holds significant influence, though in towns, the government has the final say.
"You mean some people worship and marry animals?" Eddie felt a little disgusted.
No matter how bold they are, they shouldn't be that bold. This tradition is quite something; one can only say these big brothers know how to have fun!
Sheva nodded seriously. "That's right. Those tribes know perfectly well that it's wrong, yet they still persist. Doesn't hearing about it make you feel a little sick?"
"To be honest, I'm not disgusted, just surprised. Everyone has their own pursuits. It seems 'bro-love' really isn't a big deal," Eddie shrugged.
Sheva smiled. "It's fine. Some traditions are excellent, but others are very crude and need improvement."
"We've arrived at the Carla Vado Volcano region. The air here has a strong smell of sulfur. The closer we get, the stronger the odor will be," Samantha said.
Sheva took out a gas mask and handed it over. "I prepared this. Use this."
Eddie, however, took out a necklace and put it on Sheva. "This will be better."
