Eddie sat quietly on the sofa, watching the news. "How interesting. Truly worthy of the family. The first thing they did was release a biochemical weapon, and then they did a series of things that weren't even necessary. It's truly laughable."
No longer interfering in regional affairs, and reducing the deployment of troops abroad, and so on.
Is this something a normal region would do? Couldn't they just stay home? They just had to go out and court death.
Ding dong, the restaurant delivery arrived. The person was none other than Launi, the beautiful South India woman he had saved last night!
"What are you doing here?" Eddie asked, puzzled.
Launi rolled her eyes. "Weren't you the one who ordered? You cleared out our restaurant's entire inventory."
She had the food brought in, and it was piled up in the living room like a small mountain, an exaggerated amount.
Launi didn't leave; instead, she sent the delivery guy back. Then she sat on a chair, watching Eddie devour the food, lost in thought.
Eddie finished nearly five hundred pounds of various burgers and steaks that were delivered this time, and only then did he feel a little better.
Launi covered her mouth in surprise. "Oh my god, you can eat so much!"
Eddie made a call, asking a service center to send a woman over to clean the house.
"What's so strange? Why haven't you gone back? Do you work at that restaurant?" Eddie poured a glass of red wine for himself and one for her, then lit an after-dinner cigarette.
"The restaurant is owned by my aunt. I came to live with her. My family's company in South India had an accident; they were testing drugs for WilPharma and died as a result," Launi said, lowering her head.
"I'm sorry to hear that. The dead cannot be brought back to life. Try to be optimistic; life goes on, and you should live each day positively." Eddie raised his red wine glass.
They clinked glasses and drank the red wine.
"Thank you for helping me at the airport last time. Without you, I might have died. Please also thank Claire for me; her TerraSave helped me a lot," Launi said, her face flushed from the glass of red wine.
"So you're going to offer yourself to me?" Eddie chuckled mischievously.
"Hehe, if Claire doesn't mind, I have no problem," Launi said, winking playfully, a subtle refusal.
Chapter 523: Lisa Is Pregnant
Poor Launi had no idea she had encountered a big bad wolf. Her refusal was useless; facing the savage Eddie, she had no room to maneuver.
After Lisa, she was the fourth one to be taken down.
Having dealt with all that, Eddie didn't leave the apartment. Instead, he continued to sit there, looking at his computer, browsing knowledge related to electromagnetism. Since he had made a breakthrough, he needed to continue searching for corresponding abilities.
It wasn't until six in the evening that Claire slowly woke up. She felt incredibly tired, having not been this exhausted in a long time.
Lisa also woke up at the same time, but her physique was stronger, and she quickly put on her high heels and walked to the living room. She was very hungry and needed food to replenish her energy.
Everyone ate dinner tacitly, without a word. But when Claire saw the unconscious Launi, her expression became a little strange; she hadn't expected to encounter this woman here.
"After we eat, we need to go to Curtis's house. It's not safe here. It's better to have them go to headquarters, where it will be much safer. And while we're there, we'll tell her what happened; this news always needs to be delivered," Eddie said calmly.
These words stifled Claire's desire to ask questions. After glancing at the still unconscious Launi, she said, "You two go, I'll stay here and watch, and handle a few things."
"Alright, be careful," Eddie said with a mischievous smile.
Claire retorted, annoyed, "I still have the strength to hit people!"
They arrived at Curtis's house and explained everything. Curtis's wife, Tamara, cried a river of tears. After some persuasion, she agreed to take her daughter and leave the place.
A week later, in the Mediterranean coastal headquarters office.
Eddie leaned back in his executive chair, looking at the curved screen in front of him, which displayed the latest news. "Hailey, have you connected your circuit yet?"
Under the desk, Hailey was tinkering with a new circuit invention. As Wolf Mother's daughter, she didn't like fighting; she preferred to update and create inventions. "No, is it bothering you?"
"No, you can stay down there as long as you want." Eddie was a little helpless.
Three days ago, Tricell had already acquired the Tricell that had gone bankrupt due to a broken capital chain. It had also recovered corresponding samples and experimental data, reorganizing into a subsidiary that produced cheap drugs.
The biggest winner of this incident was Eddie, who had broken through his own limits. He was now a veritable Magneto, even able to casually eavesdrop on others' phone calls, the only difference being whether he wanted to or not.
Tap, tap, tap. The office door was pushed open. Christine, having given birth, walked in gracefully in high heels, holding a document. Seeing another pair of high heels under the desk, her expression became a little strange.
"I found out that the Africa Branch was closed twenty years ago, and the Stairway to the Sun withered twenty years ago. The corresponding Progenitor Virus are all products of cultivation and replication; the true Stairway to the Sun has long been extinct," Christine said.
"Extinct? That's impossible. Could it have been transplanted somewhere else?" Eddie was somewhat suspicious.
"The information found says it's extinct. As for transplantation, that's possible, but it would still be in Africa. Only Africa's local environment is suitable for the growth of the Stairway to the Sun, so that possibility cannot be ruled out," Christine nodded.
"Alright, it seems it's time to investigate. Also, is that Brandon guy not dead? Otherwise, how could someone have developed the Uroboros Virus?" Eddie felt very puzzled.
As early as in the Amazon Rainforest, the Uroboros Virus had already appeared. At that time, they didn't continue to investigate, but now it seems this virus has indeed been developed.
The Uroboros Virus is also known as the Jajangmyeon Virus, rumored to be a virus that can evolve humans.
However, it has very high demands on the host. If it's not compatible, the host will turn into a monster resembling a pile of jajangmyeon, idiotic and incompetent.
Christine rolled her eyes and picked up the document. "This is a document from the Pharmaceutical Association, wanting to hold a meeting to address the proliferation of biochemical weapons, inviting you to attend."
"Another meeting? It's endless. If you have time, go back to Goddess Island and pass the Fear Test." Eddie took out a cigarette and lit it.
Christine nodded. "That is indeed my next plan. There's also something else I need to tell you."
"What is it? For you to specifically come all this way." Eddie was a little curious.
"Lisa just finished her check-up; she's pregnant and needs rest. Jessica hasn't recovered yet, so you'll need to choose new bodyguards." Christine's lips curved into a charming smile.
"Lisa is pregnant? I'll go see her later. Transfer Hilda over and let her take the role. Oh, is she ready?" Eddie felt a little excited.
"She's still on Goddess Island. We'll go back together in a few days; that meeting isn't for another month." Christine glanced at the high heels under the desk, then left with a knowing look in her high heels.
Hailey finally fixed the circuit, crawled out from under the desk, and gargled with red wine. "Done! I've enhanced the router function. It can block other people's probes without Auntie's help. No hackers will get in!"
Eddie was speechless. "That's it?"
"Huh? Dad, do you think this isn't enough?" Hailey raised an eyebrow.
"Cough cough, very good, very impressive, you're very smart. Alright, I'm going to see your Auntie Lisa. You watch the computer for me here." Eddie smiled and patted his daughter's head.
"Oh, I know, you go do your thing. Your office is mine now." Hailey waved her hand carelessly. Looking at her eighteen-year-old appearance, no one would know she was only a few years old, though she learned things quite fast.
Arriving at the medical room, Lisa sat quietly, looking at the report on the computer, her face calm. Only when she saw the news of her pregnancy did her eyes show a hint of complexity.
"Lisa, are you alright?" Eddie walked into the medical room, holding two bottles of red wine.
Lisa took the red wine and nodded. "I'm fine, I'm just pregnant."
