Miss Amelia I could hear Gertrude's voice in the distance, I stood up and looked around once more hoping to see where he went to but he was completely out of sight almost like he wasn't even here at all I decided to forget about it and focus on the journey ahead,but far in the distance 2 men were up in a tree looking down on the girl, she's so cute promise to treat her nicely all he heard was a small grunt and he glanced back hmph I guess I was just hopeful we'll be better get going before the elders grow any more gray hair than they should he chuckled and started running in the other direction the mysterious man shortly followed after taking one glance at the girl before disappearing, I walked over to where Gertrude was looking for me " I'm over here" oh miss thank the heavens I couldn't find you near the grass I thought you might have fallen in the water, I chuckled at the worried look on her face " I'm fine Gertrude I just took a little stroll " please miss be mindful of your surroundings we don't know what or who lurks here she said hooking the horses back into the carriage " I would never forgive myself if something happened to you on my watch she said taking on her mother tone " I know I'm sorry it won't happen again "I said stepping into the carriage and then we were on our way again. Gertrude has been working with my family for as long as I can remember my mother told me the story when I could understand things better, it happened on a stormy night I was about two years old, it was just me and my mama at home dad had gone out for some business I was on the living room floor playing and mama was in the kitchen cooking awaiting my fathers return, it was around eleven at night when my father burst through the doors with a limp woman in his arms blood dripping through her and staining the floor my mother rushed to my fathers side and they took her to one of the rooms to treat her injury after hours of helping her they got her into a stable state and then called the doctor for further treatment then my parents were in the kitchen whispering among themselves I later got to learn what they were talking about was that my father had got into some trouble with a mafia group normally my father could always handle it himself but they had planned to kill him and got a lot of backup, before the situation my father had seen a slave woman in a cell and freed her so when he was fighting of the men heavily wounded and outnumbered the woman appeared with two guns in her hand shooting at everyone except my father she and even after she finished the bullets single handedly killed thirty plus men with a pocket knife and right when they were about to escape the mafia boss shot her in her abdomen, my father saw this and shot at the mafia boss making sure he was dead then he knew that if not for this woman he would've been dead so he took her back home. After she woke up the woman thanked the family profusely for saving her life and told them the story of her life and how she ended up there I wasn't privy to that information I thought rolling my eyes while looking at the scenery outside the carriage but I was told that she knew martial arts and was skilled in assassination and since she saved my fathers life and had no where else to go my parents made it their sole responsibility to give her a roof over her head and since I was a baby and the daughter of a very sought after maffian boss they decided to keep her as my body guard and chauffeur but she was a woman and women weren't allowed to do any other work but house work so she decided to cut her hair and dress like a man to be undetected by the public eye and it's only I and my family that knows this secret and she's been with me every since I look at her as a mother figure in some ways. Miss Amelia "what? Yes? I said snorting awake" it's dusk and getting very late I've already booked a room for us at an inn "oh alright then" we shall reach the castle in the morning when we leave she said bringing the carriage to the front of the inn then she came down and opened the doors for me to alight, one of the workers girl already by my side to direct me while Gertrude took the carriage to the stables I stepped in the inn and felt a tremor go through my body, I started looking around but there was no one else in the reception but a tall tan man at the counter with shiny black curly hair wearing a pin stripe black suit speaking to the inn keeper, I walked up to the counter to take my room key and glanced over at the man he wasn't looking at me at all but he had a sharp jawline a round nose defined cheek bone and pink supple lips then he turned to look at me and my heart skipped a beat he grinned a little barely noticeable like he was amused it felt like time slowed down for five seconds and then he looked away with indifference and continued speaking to the inn keeper and I gulped I was so dazed I didn't know when the inn keeper was trying to give me my keys" hello miss ? Miss your Keys" oh um sorry yes my keys thank you I said flustered and feeling my face turn warm "would you like anything be brought to your room miss" yes un just some food will be fine thank you I said walking away from there fast the mysterious man gave her one more glance and then stepped out of the inn . I shut my door then started breathing profusely " Amelia what the hell was that , who was that , why am I even getting flustered he just looked at me, oh no I said covering my face and plopping down on the bed I must be delirious from sleep I'm sure after I eat and sleep I'll be fine . After having her bath and eating food Amelia finally went to bed with a calm heart in preparation for tomorrow when she will finally reach the dukes palace.
