Chapter 137 - Chapter 137: Good Night

"Yu!"

Seeing Yuichiro being besieged, Mika's heart filled with anxiety, and he rushed forward without a second thought.

Lest Karr's attack was about to land on Yuichiro when Mika appeared before him without warning, sweeping his sword across. Lest Karr frowned and retreated.

"You brat, are you looking for death?"

Mika didn't bother to pay any attention to Lest Karr. After forcing him back, Mika moved to block Urd's attack.

However, Urd reacted extremely quickly, easily bypassing Mika and ignoring him to engage Yuichiro.

The Seraph inside Yuichiro's body seemed to sense that Urd was the strongest among them, naturally focusing most of its attention on him.

Yuichiro and Mika were already at a disadvantage, and Yuichiro would even attack Mika every now and then.

Luke couldn't help but facepalm.

"Attacking your own teammate! Are all Seraphs brainless? No situational awareness at all!"

But the Seraph wasn't completely useless. Mika relied on its attacks as cover several times to avoid being instantly killed, but the gap in raw power wasn't something he could bridge just with willpower; he was still getting pummeled.

Krul was uneasy, her expression serious.

"How do you plan to save Mika and Yu from Urd and the others? You haven't let the demonic sword drink blood in advance, have you?"

Luke gave her a reassuring look to put her at ease, while jokingly teasing her.

"What? Worried?"

Krul clicked her tongue, turning her head away to pretend to observe the battlefield, and whispered.

"...Of course I am!"

Luke hadn't expected Krul to be so honest this time and scratched his head.

"Haha, don't worry. I haven't even delivered on the body I promised Ashera yet, so how could I kick the bucket now? I still have a secret weapon."

Krul had heard Luke mention that 'kicking the bucket' meant dying. She wanted to ask what the secret weapon was, but he had already started walking toward Shinoa Hiragi, who was currently fighting in her Consciousness Space.

He turned and left, as if he had made a certain decision!

Krul hesitated to speak, then thought for a moment, her eyes suddenly lighting up. She then glanced at Crowley, who was slacking off.

A bad premonition rose in Crowley's heart; he felt that Krul looking at him definitely wasn't a good thing.

Luke walked up to Shinoa Hiragi. To the outside world, she appeared to be in a mindless state, looking completely hollow.

Luke pulled a player from out of nowhere, recorded an audio clip into it with a mischievous grin, and then played it on loop by Shinoa's ear.

After doing this, he noticed that Yuichiro was about to be torn apart and Mika was also quite badly injured, so he quickly ran over.

"My Lords, do you need a hand?"

Lest Karr was pushed back by Yuichiro's wing. He landed and stabilized himself, not even giving Luke a direct look.

"What can you do? Just get in the way?"

Luke spread his hands, summoning his demonic sword in the process.

"That's hurtful, but it's fine. I'm still happy to help you. Who told me to be so kind-hearted?"

With that, Luke joined the battlefield.

Swatting an attack toward an unprepared Lest Karr, knocking away Yuichiro just as Guren was about to disembowel him, and disrupting Urd's offensive rhythm by being pushed back—these were all basic maneuvers.

"My hand slipped!"

"My mistake!"

"I was careless!"

Even the Seraph seemed unable to bear these abnormal maneuvers and basically ignored Luke.

However, the three Progenitors were extremely uncomfortable.

Especially Lest Karr, whose face was as black as the bottom of a pot.

At this point, how could they not see it? This kid was a mole!

"You want to protect them? Who gave you the confidence? Krul..."

Lest Karr looked toward Krul as he spoke, but his words suddenly caught in his throat.

Krul, who had been standing to the side, was now leaning against the wall with her eyes closed as if she had fainted. Alucard was flying around her with an anxious expression. Not far away, there was a drag mark on the ground; following it, one could see Crowley lying stiffly on the floor.

Huh? This guy managed to knock out two Progenitors without him noticing?

But... Krul, your posture is way too comfortable for someone lying there! At least try to make it look real! Well, Crowley looks normal enough.

If Crowley knew what Lest Karr was thinking, he would probably tell him helplessly: That's because I really was sent flying by Krul!

Of course, Crowley wasn't actually unconscious, but if he moved now, he'd be finished.

Even if just to avoid worrying his two busy attendants back in his territory, Crowley felt he should continue faking unconsciousness.

Lest Karr withdrew his gaze, but before he could speak, Luke said,

"Don't provoke me. I even scare myself when I get ruthless!"

Guren, on the other hand, was eager to try.

"Eh?! Can I have a direct fight with Mr. Luke now? Lord Urd, can I handle this?"

Urd nodded slightly. Although he suspected Luke was hiding his true strength, Guren should be able to handle it.

"Wonderful! Mr. Luke, please guide me! I'll be very careful when I kill you!"

Luke, whose eyes had been on Shinoa Hiragi, replied,

"Bloop, you might be disappointed~"

Just as Guren felt those words were strange, his expression suddenly changed.

He felt his heart skip a beat; he sensed the aura of a superior bloodline.

Urd and Lest Karr turned their heads in disbelief toward the inconspicuous girl with greyish-purple hair who had been in the corner from the start.

Even Krul and Crowley, who were faking unconsciousness, opened their eyes.

"Shinoa Hiragi" raised her head, her gaze sweeping over everyone as she smiled.

"How have you all been lately?"

...A few minutes ago, within Shinoa Hiragi's Consciousness Space.

The Progenitor Sigmado was bound by chains, the wings on his back flapping occasionally. Beneath his feet, a door had opened on the pure white floor. Inside the door was pitch black like a giant abyss, and the chains wrapped around him were like monsters from the deep, struggling to pull the Progenitor inside.

Shinoa stood nearby with her hands behind her back, saying with a smile,

"Don't waste your effort. I won't give you any opportunity to hurt Yu!"

The Progenitor wasn't frustrated or panicked, but instead said calmly,

"You love Yu. Do you really want him to be a monster for the rest of his life? You know in your heart that I have a way to save him. All you need to do is accept me."

Shinoa's heart wavered, and the chains on the Progenitor loosened slightly, but they soon tightened again. Clearly, the Progenitor's words hadn't fooled her.

Actually, it wasn't exactly a trick, because the Progenitor really did have a way to return Yuichiro to being human.

The Progenitor merely felt it was a pity. He had been so close to breaking down Shinoa's mental defenses... Just as he was being pulled into the door and it was about to close, a voice echoed in Shinoa's Consciousness Space.

"Yuichiro is dying... As a Seraph, he's about to be killed by the Vampire Progenitors..."

"Yuichiro..."

The voice repeated incessantly. Like the final straw, it caused Shinoa, whose mental defenses were already fragile, to daze for a moment.

Shinoa muttered to herself.

"How can that be? Yu is dying? Because he's a Seraph? Impossible... No, Yu can't die. I have no family left. Yu, I only have you and everyone else. You can't let anything happen... If only Yu hadn't become a Seraph... If he were just human..."

Shinoa's psyche was actually very fragile. Because of her sister Hiiragi Mahiru and the Hiiragi Family, she had learned early on not to open her heart to others; no one could get the key to her heart's door.

Until Yuichiro appeared. He was like the one with the only key in the world, barging into Shinoa's heart. Thus, Shinoa was afraid of loss, very afraid... The door that was about to close stopped. The Progenitor felt the chains loosen again and seized the opportunity to break free in one go.

He flashed in front of Shinoa, spread his wings, and reached out his arms to pull her into his embrace.

Shinoa snapped back to her senses but could no longer dodge. She could only be like a fish on a chopping block, at his mercy.

A single tear slid down Shinoa's cheek.

"Yu, I love you..."

Her consciousness sank as the Progenitor threw the unconscious Shinoa into the door, which then gradually closed.

Sigmado, the Progenitor, softly said to the door,

"Good night, poor girl."
