Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 31

Third person pov

Everything went well, and we were in the car trying to figure out how to get access to his phone.

"I'm in," Xavier said, breaking the silence.

"Shit! Thank you, babe," Ruby said, placing kisses all over his face.

"Gross, guys. So gross," Brenda said, her face turning red.

"What is in his phone?" Lana asked, sitting up.

"I'm going to copy all I can copy, then I'll place a virus on his phone so I have access to it," Xavier said.

"Wait, aren't we supposed to erase everything?" I asked, clueless.

"No, that would be great, but he would notice. This virus was recently created by our company. It's contagious, so if it's connected to other devices, we can have access to his laptop and other devices too."

He paused before continuing.

"If we go through it and see something crazy, I can delete it from the comfort of my home, and he'll think it's just his phone acting up."

"That's impressive," Brenda said, looking amazed.

We spent the next few minutes doing exactly what Xavier had said. He copied everything he could from Philip's phone and made sure the access was in place before we returned the phone.

We couldn't keep it.

That would make Philip suspicious.

The whole point was for him to have his phone back while we could still see what he was doing.

"So I just need to call him and tell him I bumped into him and somehow we got each other's phones, right?" Brenda asked.

"Exactly," I said.

We had to do it before our break. Once we went on break, it would be harder to keep track of Philip, and we didn't want him realizing his phone was missing.

Brenda borrowed someone's phone and called Philip.

"Hello?"

"Philip, it's Brenda. I think we accidentally exchanged phones when I bumped into you earlier."

There was a short silence.

"Really?"

"Yeah. I just noticed. Can we meet so we can exchange them back?"

"Sure."

Brenda ended the call and took a deep breath.

"You've got this," Lana said.

Brenda nodded and stepped out of the car.

A few minutes later, she met Philip and handed him his phone.

He handed hers back.

"Sorry about that," Brenda said with a nervous smile.

"It's fine," Philip replied.

She smiled before turning around and walking back to us.

The moment she got into the car, Ruby looked at her.

"Done?"

Brenda nodded.

"Done."

We all breathed a sigh of relief.

Philip had his phone back.

He had no idea that we'd already copied what we needed and that Xavier could still access it.

"Let's go," I said.

We dropped Brenda off at her house and finally headed home.

For the first time in weeks, we felt like we'd actually gotten one step ahead of Philip.
