Ronald's POV
The weekend ended too quickly. Sunday evening came, and I had to go home. James walked me to the door of his apartment and kissed me softly before I left. His hand lingered on the back of my neck for a second longer than needed.
"Text me when you get home," he said.
"I will."
The drive back felt short. Streetlights flickered past the windows, and my body still carried the deep, pleasant ache from the nights before. When I stepped inside my house, the familiar smell of dinner greeted me.
My mom looked up from the couch. "You're back. How was the weekend?"
I tried to keep my face normal. "It was good. We just relaxed and spent time together. Watched some movies, swam a little, talked a lot."
She gave me that knowing smile but didn't push further. Sophia ran over from the hallway, her small feet quick on the floor. I bent down and kissed her cheek.
"Hey, little trouble."
