Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Teiha

Chapter 11: The Fall That Changed Him

Metal echoed.

Vinh didn't wait.

The moment the door shifted—

he moved.

Silent.

Fast.

The corridor stretched ahead.

Dark.

Cold.

No hesitation.

His body reacted before his mind could catch up.

Step.

Turn.

Breathe—

Pain.

Sharp.

From inside.

Vinh staggered for half a second.

"…Not now…"

Something was wrong.

Not outside.

Inside.

His chest tightened.

His veins burned faintly.

The wind around him flickered—

unstable.

He pushed forward.

A presence.

Behind him.

Vinh turned—

Too late.

A Dejteo stood at the end of the corridor.

Watching.

No sound.

No signal.

Then—

it moved.

Fast.

Vinh raised his blade.

Impact.

Metal collided.

The force pushed him back.

"…Tch—!"

Too strong.

No—

not stronger.

Just—

more stable.

Vinh moved again.

This time—

he didn't think.

Wind burst out.

Uncontrolled.

His body twisted—

The dagger struck first.

Then—

the short blade followed.

A clean cut.

The Dejteo collapsed.

Silence.

Vinh stood still.

Breathing hard.

"…I…"

His hand trembled.

Not from fear.

From exhaustion.

Too fast.

Too heavy.

"…This power…"

His vision blurred for a second.

"…It's killing me…"

A sound.

More steps.

Not one.

Many.

Vinh looked up.

Figures appeared at the far end.

Then—

more.

"…No way…"

They didn't rush.

They advanced.

Slow.

Certain.

Like they already knew—

he wouldn't escape.

Vinh clenched his teeth.

"…Then move."

He ran.

The corridor twisted.

Turned.

Shifted.

His footsteps echoed—

uneven now.

Every breath burned.

The wind around him flickered again—

weaker.

"…Not enough…"

Behind him—

they were still coming.

No panic.

No hesitation.

Just pursuit.

Dead end.

Vinh stopped.

The wall in front of him—

cracked.

A faint vibration ran through it.

"…What—"

Too late.

The ground beneath him broke.

Falling.

Darkness swallowed everything.

No sound.

No movement.

Then—

impact.

Silence.

Vinh coughed.

"…Ugh…"

His body refused to move.

Pain spread slowly this time.

Heavy.

Deep.

He forced himself up.

The space around him—

different.

No metal.

No light from above.

Only darkness.

Still.

"…Where…?"

His voice barely echoed.

Then—

he saw them.

Two shapes.

Resting.

Unmoving.

A sword.

Long.

Clean.

Not damaged.

Not rusted.

And beside it—

a dagger.

Smaller.

Darker.

Vinh stared.

"…Why are these here…?"

No answer.

He stepped closer.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Something felt—

off.

Not dangerous.

Just—

wrong.

He reached out.

His hand hovered for a moment—

Then—

touched the dagger.

Nothing happened.

No light.

No reaction.

"…Just normal…?"

He picked it up.

It felt—

light.

Too natural.

Like it belonged there.

His grip tightened slightly.

"…Strange…"

Then—

the sword.

He grabbed it.

Heavier.

But balanced.

Perfectly.

"…What is this…"

Still—

nothing.

No power.

No change.

Only—

silence.

Vinh exhaled slowly.

"…So they're just weapons…"

A pause.

"…Right?"

A sound.

From above.

Steps.

Closer.

They found him.

Vinh turned.

His body still weak.

His breath still uneven.

The dagger in one hand.

The sword in the other.

No power.

No advantage.

Only choice.

He stepped forward.

This time—

he didn't run.

If he ran… he would die.

If he fought… he might die faster.

But this time—

he chose to fight. The darkness lifted slowly.

Vinh opened his eyes.

Light.

White.

Cold.

His body didn't move.

Not because he couldn't—

But because something held him in place.

Metal restraints.

Arms.

Chest.

Legs.

Not tight.

Precise.

His breathing was steady.

Too steady.

"…They fixed me…"

A sound broke the silence.

Soft.

Not like the others.

Measured.

Vinh turned his head slightly.

A figure stood in the light.

Still.

Watching.

Different.

"…You're not one of them…"

No answer.

The figure stepped closer.

Slow.

Controlled.

Vinh's eyes narrowed.

"…What are you?"

A pause.

"Teiha."

Nothing more.

No explanation.

Vinh studied it.

"…You're the one who treated me…"

Silence.

Then—

Teiha spoke again.

"Three Dejteo entities were inside your body."

Vinh froze.

"…What…?"

"Now, only two remain."

His breath caught.

Something was… different.

The pressure.

The burning.

Gone.

"…What did you do…?"

Teiha didn't hesitate.

"I removed the fire entity."

No emotion.

Just fact.

Vinh's eyes widened.

The strongest one.

Gone.

"…You took it out…?"

No response.

Only confirmation through silence.

Teiha continued.

"One entity has already been weakened by you."

Wind.

The exhaustion.

The collapse.

It all aligned.

Then—

Teiha stopped for a brief moment.

Before finishing.

"The remaining one… has not been used."

A faint chill ran through Vinh.

The last one.

Still there.

Untouched.

"…There's still one left…"

His voice was low.

Uncertain.

Teiha didn't correct him.

"You do not understand it."

A pause.

"And it has not yet responded to you."

Vinh clenched his jaw slightly.

"…So I didn't beat them…"

Silence.

"…I just survived…"

"Correct."

No hesitation.

No comfort.

Only truth.

Vinh closed his eyes for a brief second.

Then opened them again.

"…Why didn't you kill me…?"

Teiha stepped closer.

Raised a hand—

And placed it on Vinh's chest.

Cold.

Precise.

Not healing.

Scanning.

"You are not compatible."

The words sank in.

"Your system… is not stable."

A pause.

"You were chosen recently."

Vinh's eyes shifted slightly.

"…Chosen…"

The word felt… wrong.

"…So I'm just another one…?"

Teiha withdrew its hand.

"You are not unique."

Silence filled the space again.

Heavy.

Vinh stared upward.

His thoughts moved faster than his body.

"…Then why keep me alive…?"

Teiha turned slightly.

As if the question had already been answered.

But it spoke anyway.

"I left the remaining two entities for you."

A pause.

"You will need them… for the battle that has already been assigned."

Vinh's breath slowed.

"…A battle…"

No reaction from Teiha.

Only one more statement.

"You will almost certainly die there."

Flat.

Absolute.

Vinh said nothing.

Couldn't.

Inside—

a realization formed.

"…It knew…"

"…It knew what I am…"

"…It didn't kill me…"

A pause.

"…It gave me a chance…"

But even as the thought appeared—

he wasn't sure.

Teiha walked toward the exit.

Without turning back—

it spoke one last time.

"The next phase will begin."

The door opened.

Light faded.

Darkness returned.

He wasn't saved.

He was being prepared.
