3rd POV
He doesn't know what to say about this stupid human. One minute she was throwing a fit, and the next minute she was already smiling at him sweetly and happily.
As if he didn't even do anything wrong to her. As if he didn't actually abducted her and take advantage of her naivety.
She was a simple-minded girl, and she seems to have no idea about her being a pure-blooded hunter. Her parents mustn't have taught her how their world works. They raised her up amongst the human environment. They raised her into a normal life.
Traiver's plan was to torture her after he abducted the girl, but he can't find to himself hurting a poor soul like her. Something about her made him stop doing what was planned.
Every time he dared to touch and hurt her, his heart and mind was protesting over his body. He can't hurt her.
She's young and innocent...
Usually, when you were obviously kidnapped, you would fear your abductor. You would try to escape, you would try to provoke and fight the one who kidnapped you.
But Navelle was different. Not only could he easily bribe her with delicious food, but she is also easy to manipulate, too.
And that made Traiver feel the need to protect her.
It was absurd. She's a human. A pure-blooded hunter. Not a simple hunter, because her parents themselves killed his family.
Yeah, right. He should not soften his heart to this human. She is nothing but a mere tool he would use to have his revenge.
He must remember that her family bloodline kills their race without remorse just because of their twisted beliefs that humans are superior to everyone, and the outnumbered yet powerful creatures like them shouldn't be a threat to their realm. Humans are the most disgusting and selfish existing creatures in this world.
"Prey," he called.
Messy eating with a mouth filled with food, cheeks puffed, and some crumbs on the side of her mouth, Navelle shifted her gaze from the table, and up to his crimson eyes.
Her big, doe-like jet-black and innocent eyes were locked in his. She smiled sheepishly.
He clenched his jaw. Looking at those eyes, who would have thought that this girl's parents are heartless people who kill lives for money?
"Hmm?" she mumbled while munching.
He sighed and raised his hand to wipe her lips. "You'll choke yourself. Eat slowly."
She glared at him, her eyes were a little swollen from all the crying, but she still looked stunningly beautiful. Her nose was red as well. What a cry baby.
She managed to swallow her food and messily wiped her mouth through the back of her hand. "But sweets are amazing! She should take some of it home! Let's bring some sweets to Rasheb! I'm pretty upset because we didn't tag him along."
Home...
She said home. What did she think when she said home? Does she mean her home, or to his mansion where he had her captured for the past weeks?
She grumbled some things and he was just silently listening to her. His face has no expression, just like the usual, but he finds everything she says amusing to him.
Who wouldn't find it amusing, right? She was talking to him in a casual way as if he didn't wish her death at all. As if he didn't plan how to kill her these days. As if she didn't know that he's a bad guy.
"When's the juice gonna arrive?" she whined silently while gazing around. Some people threw a glance in their direction. Most of them look confused. It is the first time that Traiver has brought a date, and it wasn't a vampire but a human. He hasn't have any slave before, so people thought that this human here was kinda special to his heart.
But they were all wrong, though. Traiver doesn't feel anything about the human. He just wants to use her. He wants to use her innocence as his leverage to get his revenge.
He smiled at that thought.
"Yeah, let's bring Rasheb some sweets. I'm sure he'd love it," he said with a dark look on his face, which Navelle didn't notice as she was busy filling her stomach.
A minute or two later, a waiter arrived and gave them their juice. Well, a blood for him. This is an exclusive event for vampires. An annual celebration specifically for the 5th vampire king.
An annual event to praise his braveness to fight against their rights over the other races who dared to take their race down.
An annual event which needs to offer blood from each human here to the stone of eternity. With their blood, it would awaken the presence of the dead king. One unlucky person would die and burn his soul. The purpose of this event was to make people remember the way where they are about to vanish into this world and how humans take their kindness for granted. It is to remember not to associate with humans because they were the most cruel beings in this world.
For Traiver, it is a ridiculous event. They all know that humans are the most selfish beings in this world—there is no reason for them to hold this event because even without this, they will all remember that.
But then again, it's also fun to watch someone die. It would be a great show.
The bell rang through the hall. Everyone look at each other and smirk, while the humans—slaves—trembled in fear. Everyone stood up, which caught Navelle's attention.
"What is going on?"
Traiver shrugged. "Continue eating."
"Hmm, okay," she said and resumed eating.
The slaves are pushed towards the front. They lined up. In front of them was an old man holding a dagger to slice up every human's palms. They slaves dared not to made a sound even though they were literally sliced open. Their blood dripped to the scorching stone. After all people had offered their blood, one person's palm began to light. She gasped as her eyes widened in fear.
"N-No... No... No..." she muttered as she looked around, trying to find her master. Tears streamed down her cheeks and she began to scream when a vampire dragged her towards the front and poured gasoline on her. "NO! NO! PLEASE, NO! PLEASE! I BEG YOU! MASTER, PLEASE HELP ME!" she cried, but it was too late because a fire was thrown at her and she was burnt to death.
Navelle, who was watching the scene, had her hand covering her mouth. Her terrified eyes were widened in fear. She could feel her heart breaking as tears welled up in her eyes.
Traiver smirked while looking at her terrified face. It brought rejoice within his heart. Soon, she would be able to watch her own parents die before her eyes.
Just like how he watched his parents getting killed in front of him…
