Synopsis
Dire Crowley had observed Cygnus strange characteristics. He noticed that she didn’t contain any uniform or ceremonial robes, or not even one memory about a carriage traveling her to the gates. Though he completely ignored those strange characteristics and still made Cygnus arrive at the ceremony. Throughout the ceremony, Cygnus was introduced by the dorm leaders of each House: Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, Octavinelle, Scarabia, Pomefiore, Ignihyde and Diasomnia. As Dire Crowley has sent her to face the Dark Mirror to dedicate on which dorm her soul belongs—but—her magical power was too strong for the Dark Mirror to determine. Therefore, Cygnus is left without a dorm alongside an explanation on what the Dark Mirror sensed. This has led to Cygnus becoming the talk of the Night Raven College. Dire Crowley offers Cygnus a shelter in Ramshackle Dorm for her to bear. Surprised by the Dark Mirror confirming that her power was powerful, Dire Crowley couldn’t let Cygnus roam around freely without bringing too much attention to herself. Cygnus had also offered her shelter to Grim: with him by her side, she wanted him to help her in order to get back home. Grim showed disinterest and plain distrust regarding her. However, Cygnus swayed him with tuna, which he automatically and shamelessly obliged. Being the only girl and perhaps the youngest, or oldest according her age being physically unknown, Cygnus tries to make her journey at least suitable for her to manage. Since her magical power was already revealed to be too strong that no dorm suited her, or too strong that not even the dorm leaders could compete, she knew that she would had to face some difficulties to gain more allies on her side. Would she accomplish such things knowing that she’s the reason why the Twisted Wonderland universe’s canon plot takes a turn? Find out now by joining in her journey!

Chapter 1 - UNEXPECTED GUEST?

[Author's note: please excuse me for my inconsistent updates… School work has been getting in the way lately. For both my first novel and my fanfic, it'll take a bit of time writing chapters for both and updating. I will try and post every two days or three, but it'll probably be more days if I'm experiencing personal problems or lack of ideas. Also, I've decided to scrap the idea of this fanfic becoming an obey me, this will now be a twisted wonderland fanfic with my original character.]

[Also, I want to mention that NO: this is NOT an twisted wonderland oc. This is my original character but basically a crossover or whatever you wanna call it. I do not claim any of the dialogue from the game nor the characters! Also, I'm not sure if the characters are gonna be accurate to their personalities but I'll try! Let me shut up now.]

All I could remember was floating around in endless darkness.

I was there for years. Probably even decades.

I couldn't see anything. I didn't think I was able to until now. When I was traveling endlessly with no breaks, no sound, no time, a little sparkle in the shape of a pinkish-yellowish star appeared right in front of me.

I'd thought, "was this end? Was this the end of this loneliness?"

I tried moving my legs and arm, but unfortunately, nothing budged. I was stuck as if I were a icicle.

The pinkish-yellow star began to beam brighter. Time seemed to be going slow, but speed was most definitely going fast. The pinkish-yellow is warm—it's helping me to feel my blood that was once ever so chilling.

I'm not sure what this…gift was. I didn't think twice of it. My fingers twitched, my eyebrow spasms. The more closer I got to the shining star, my arm began to reach towards it.

"After years of loneliness,"

My vision began to become white,

"I've finally did it..."

I didn't care what laid ahead,

I didn't care if it would kill me,

All I care about is my accomplishment.

"I've finally traveled to another dimension."

.....…....

"Hm?.."

My eyes remained closed. I didn't feel like getting up or opening them.

I couldn't remember what happened. I'm assumed it was one of those dreams again: traveling through different dimensions or worlds. However, the only thing I could remember is sleeping on a bed.

"Is it morning already?.." I muttered. I heard something raddling. I didn't choose to open my eyes yet.

'What is that stupid noise?..'

I twitched my finger. I felt a soild ground underneath me. Wasn't my bed, but it was smooth.

"I better hurry up and find that uniform before someone spots me…" A voice that sounded high-pitched and a bit rusty caught my attention. It sounded muffled from the outside—was I inside of something?

I turned my body just a bit. It felt cramped inside. The thing from outside tried lifting it up.

"Urghhhhh… this lid weighs a ton!" The thing exclaimed.

"Try this on for size! Mya-ha!"

Just as I wasn't expecting, blue flames engulfed, causing the lid to disintegrate.

'F-Fire?' I gasped softly, crouching up protecting myself from the flames that were summoned by the thing.

"Now to grab the goods…"

What goods was this talking about?!

I quickly placed my fingers on the edges of this container. I stared at what was standing in front of me. We both locked eyes for a moment. I blinked multiple times to see if my minds were playing tricks on me…

…a cat?

"WHAT?! YOU AIN'T SUPPOSED TO BE AWAKE!" The cat raised its paws up, its expression shifting into a shock.

"A t-talking weasel?!" Definitely wasn't the weirdest things I could ever imagine.

The cat eyebrows furrowed. "How… How DARE YOU! I am no WEASEL! I'm Grim, sorcerer extraordinaire!"

I can only stare at the cat in confusion. I gazed up at the floating coffins behind it, shivering when I noticed I was inside of a coffin too.

"Am I dead?.." I muttered, mostly to myself.

"Tch. Whatever. You… human! Just gimme your uniform and be…"

The cat, who was now known as "Grim, sorcerer extraordinaire," tilted its head.

"…you ain't got no uniform on. What the heck is this?!" Grim exclaimed. "I'm looking for a uniform! Not some bandaged, stupid ripped-white robe girl.."

Grim huffed, "o-or a boy? Just what the hell are you anyway?"

Me waking up inside of a coffin, a talking floating cat, floating coffins around… can this get any more confusing? I didn't want to think of this as a reality. This had to be another dream!

"I-I.." I couldn't phantom a proper sentence. Why couldn't I remember anything that led me to here? Where even was this? WHEN was this? I groaned placing my palm against my forehead.

"Why is a talking weasel asking me such things? Wake up, wake up!" I began to hit myself, begging for this to be a dream.

"I told you: I'M NOT A WEASEL!" Grim yelled in frustration. "Whatever. Just give me your uniform, or whatever you call them raggedy clothes!"

I gasped. I kicked Grim from getting close to me.

"H-hey!" Grim growled.

"Somebody help!" I jumped out from the coffin, making a run from it.

"Hey, come on! I'm on a tight schedule here!!!"

I can hear the sounds of the cackling blue flames once again.

I pushed the door opened, taking a right turn to a hallway. The atmosphere was dark, a bit of enchanted air as well. I kept running down the hallway with Grim yelling at me to surrender my uniform or end up dying. I obviously didn't choose neither, making another turn to the left.

I appeared in a strange room. A room that almost resembles a classroom. I turned my head towards another door, booking for it. I was now outside of this castle or whatever it was!

"Stop running!" Grim exclaimed. I ran around the well in the center of the castle, huffing as I raised my hand up.

"W-wait!" I tried to reason with Grim, but it truly didn't seem like it wanted to talk.

"Wait for what exactly?!" Grim puffed up its furry chest, blowing another set of blue flames. I dodged underneath the well's wall to prevent the flames hitting me then began to run again.

"J-just listen!" I knew it was useless to talk to a creature or whatever that thing is who so desperately wanted to attack me and get my clothes.

'Let me wake up, please!'

I ran back inside of the castle. I continued to run for the next 20 minutes before landing inside of a library where books were floating and green lights were shining. I huffed, whipping my head wiping the sweat beads dripping from my head.

"W-where am I?" Was this a haunted house of some sort? Why is everything just floating around?

"BAGGHHH!!" Blue flames engulfed around me. Grim cornered me successfully, leaving me no advantages to escape. I gulped turning my body around.

Grim snickers, "Foolish human!" Its mischievous smile disappeared.

"Now, unless you wanna get burned to a crisp, take off that—"

WHIP!

"Me-YEOW! That hurt! What gives!" Grim's tears formed in the corner of its eyes.

A deep, stern voice bellowed causing me to flinch a bit.

"Consider it tough love."

I gazed up to see a tall man with a crow-mask covering half of his face, only leaving his mouth visible. I've noticed his hat had a blue print wrapped around the black color alongside a shiny, purple mirror that's attached to the side of his hat.

His glowing yellow eyes that sat inside of two black holes which I assumed were the eye sockets of the mask he wore.

"Ah, I've found you at last. Splendid. I trust you're one of this year's new students?" He lowered himself slightly to get a good look at my face.

"Hmm…I see that there was an option to custom your clothing?" He placed a gloved finger on his chin.

"My, were you ever eager to make your debut." He crossed his arms, straightened his position. "And bringing a poorly trained familiar with you?"

I whimpered. Grim raised its arms, its high-pitched voice becoming extremely higher.

"As if I'd serve some lowly human! Now lemme go!"

Just who were these people? Why is this man assuming I'm a student? And what's with the uniform situation?! I could only just gaze at the two of them, my mind going in circles.

"Yes, yes," the man slid to Grim, covering its mouth. "Rebellious familiars always say that. Do be quiet for a bit, won't you?"

Grim muffled.

The man in the crow-mask sighed. He crossed his arms, closing his eyes. "Dear me. Of all the students I've dealth with, you're the first with temerity enough to open their own gate and step out of it."

"Does the very notion of patience elude you?" He asked. I was gonn answer, but he caught me off. "No matter. Your orientation has already begun. Let us return to the—"

I raised my hand up, respectfully making him pause. "W-wait, slow down, please." I begged. I tried not to be overwhelmed, but this is too much for me to comprehend so quickly.

"What do you mean student? What are these gates you speak of?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowed. "I'm n-not understanding ANYTHING you said."

"You awakened in a room full of gates, did you not?" He asked me, as if I already said I didn't know what 'gates' he was talking about.

"All of the students here at the campus arrived by passing through such gates." He added.

I'm assuming that these 'gates' were the floating coffins that I once had been. But why was he calling them gates? Why not coffins?

"Although typically the students have restraint enough to wait until I open them before waking up." He hummed.

"But are you truly a student? You don't appear wearing the required uniform or at least something similar to it." Again, the uniform. Am I supposed to be wearing something special?

"Were the 'gates' supposed to be transforming me into something?" I asked, now getting frustrated.

The man nodded. "Yes. Your 'ceremonial robes.' The black, hooded formal year that students wear the moment they rebirth."

"Rebirth?.." I blinked, "as in…the coffins are supposed to be gates to reincarnation?"

The man chuckled lightly, shaking his head. "Not exactly. The design is intended to symbolize a parting with your former world, and a rebirth into a new one."

His gloved finger landed on his chin. "But now is not the time for such prattle."

He turned back to me, "you've got a student orientation to attend!"

"But I'm not a—" I gasped when he flipped me around by one shoulder. He patted my back insisting me to move on.

"Go on, now. Make haste." I turned back up to stare at him.

"W-wait," he stared at me blankly, "f-first, just tell me on thing: Where am I?"

He lets out a hum. "Have you not fully regained consciousness?" His voice became softer. "The timespace teleportation must have addled your memories…"

'Teleportation.. why is that word feel so similar to something?..'

The man brushed it off. "Well, these things happen, I suppose." He gently placed a hand on my shoulder, a smile forming to cheek to cheek. "I shall explain it to you while we walk. Truly, my magnanimity is boundless."

Why do I feel like this would be the worst decision he'll make? My gazed shifted to Grim, who gave up on trying to remove the man's strong grip on its mouth.

"..o-ok. I guess."

.....…....

We've arrived at spot where I got chased by Grim—this is the courtyard, explained my the man. The courtyard which I hid behind the well in order to dodge Grim's attack. I'm glad it's over or else I would've had more bandages on the way.

The man cleared his throat. He raised his hand up aiming at the castle.

"This is Night Raven College. It is an institution for students the world over who demonstrate a rare aptitude for magic."

"It is the most prestigious academy of its sort in all of Twisted Wonderland."

The choice of words and tone really reflect on his character. I find that assuming.

"And I am Dire Crowley. Having been entrusted with its care by the chairman, I serve as headmage."

I couldn't believe that this huge, brick of a place was a academic institution that allowed students to enroll if they had an aptitude for magic. I did wanted to be a castle…this place looks to be big for it to be only just a college. Also, magic? Just what type of magic was he talking about?

"Only those who the Dark Mirror perceives as having a talent for magic are admitted to the college." Dire Crowley added, "those who are selected are summoned the campus through those 'gates,' which can appear anywhere."

"A black carriage bearing one such gate should have come to meet you."

I couldn't remember a black carriage. I stared at me, raising a finger. "Um, w-what does it mean if I don't remember a carriage?.."

Dire Crowley only stared blankly. I shivered underneath his longing gaze. I couldn't bring myself to remain eye contact with those glowing, yellow eyes that one could wish for them to stop staring into their soul!

"…That black carriage serves to receive a student chosen by the Dark Mirror, it too bears a gate that connects to this campus." He hummed, "I guess the timespace transportation really addled your memory."

Dire Crowley brushed it off once again. "However, you've had ended up here in the gates of rebirth, so it couldn't be a mistake by the Dark Mirror. That's simply impossible."

He opened his arms. "Sending a carriage to meet someone on a special day is a time-honored tradition."

"So, basically, this carriage dragged me against my will?" I say, rubbing my forehead.

Grim muffled, trying to get out of Dire Crowley's grip once again. Dire Crowley remained unfazed. His attention only remained on my me and me only.

"Now, let us attend to your orientation."

"Great…" I grumbled. I'm not even a student here, am I? I didn't have those "ceremonial robes," nor do I have any memories of being carried by a carriage that basically kidnapped me.

Also, did he know that I wasn't supposed to be in a college?

.....…....

Dire Crowely guided me inside of the college to the ceremony. He talked all the way through—the way his voice held a sense of bravo and expression—it made me wonder how deep his character is. He seemed to be taking this job of the headmage pretty seriously. He introduced himself as stern yet polite individual to me: he didn't question too much about my clothes or how I couldn't remember the carriage that chosen me by the Dark Mirror.

I mean, to me, he only cared about the Dark Mirror choosing me. After all he did say that the Dark Mirror couldn't make a mistake, right? It's simply impossible.

I noticed that Grim was still being silenced by his hand. Oh, poor Grim. Though we haven't gotten on the right foot, I don't think it should be handle or treated like that.

'Calling Grim 'it' wasn't quite nice either. I'm assuming Grim was a male-cat. Not that it was important, but if Grim didn't want people calling him a weasel, how would he react calling me him an "it?"

"We have arrived, my dear student." Dire Crowely bent down to me, whispering. "Don't be all jittery now." He swiftly opened the door pushing me in.

I blinked. A lot of people were here, well, a lot boys were here. I'm assuming that these boys were also new students like myself. Everyone's huddled up in a grow, I've noticed that they were wearing those cemeorial robes that Dire Crowley mentioned.

Oh my stars, I've felt so out of place. I gulped but I tried blending in the group. My ripped-white robes weren't really helping at all…

I stood there hoping that nobody would noticed me too much. I only received a few glances, but I don't think they cared too much. Dire Crowley was right beside me. I'm assuming he wanted to be there for emotional support. Not only did my white robes differ from the black robes, but my youth was a major key factor in this ceremony.

'And I'm also assuming that Dire Crowley mistaken me as a boy. Not that I care, but I'm worried about anyone finding out if I'm a girl, as this is clearly a ceremony for boys.'

'Was there any for girls though?'

Grim seemed to be suspicious about me. He's the only one who noticed that I was pretty different from everyone. Not by gender, but by my uniform. Anyways, enough of that. The red headed boy was speaking.

"We're done with orientation and form assignments?" The red headed boy asked. "All right, new students—let me be clear, At Heartslabyul House, I am the law. Break the rules, and it's off with your head!"

The phrase sounded oddly familiar. I hope he didn't mean that literally though…

The boy with his ears, that were a lion's ear, yawned and stretched. "Well, that ceremony was as boring as ever." He lazily turned to the student. "I'm going back to the dorm. If you're in the Savanaclaw House, follow me."

Heartslabyul and Savanaclaw… I gently tapped Dire Crowley, getting his attention.

"Am I assigned to those or?.." I wasn't sure what my position here was. Dire Crowley patted my head, shifting his attention back to the ceremony.

"The Dark Mirror will dedicate where you'll land. Patience."

I sighed. He talks to me as if I'm his child. I mean, I am a child, but not his. It almost sounded degrading in some way that I couldn't necessarily explain in words…

The boy with glasses spoke: his tone had a bit of enthusiasm unlike the others. "New students! Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your achievement!"

"As dorm leader of Octavinelle House, I am honored to have the opportunity to support you in what I hope will be a fulfilling campus experience!"

His words sounded sincere. If there was an option to choose a house, I'd choose his. But I don't think I could choose—the one who I assume is the dorm of the Savanaclaw House—kept glancing at me. Now I definitely don't want problems with him in the future. He's intimidating, that's for sure…

Alongside with the red headed bone, who can only be the dorm leader of Heartslabyul. He had a sense of authority and a great choice of such terrifying words that it made me want to shut up and follow the rules of this college. "Off with your head" sounded too much of a promise rather than a threat.

"Hey, does anyone know where the headmage went? He disappeared midway through the ceremony…."

Whoever that boy is, he's extremely handsome. His aura had a sense of rich elegance, almost too rich for me. I'm not complaining about it, no no no, I'm simply pointing out how it managed to make me captivated.

A voice from a table spoke. "What headmage he is."

A boy with red eyes began to speak too. I couldn't lie that I was only focused on his eyes. "Maybe he had a tummyache?"

The headmage gasped softly. He left my side quickly, placing his hands on his hips. "I most certainly did not!"

The red headed boy hummed. "Ah, speak of the devil."

"If you must know, I was searching for the new student who'd failed to show for orientation." Dire Crowley mentioned. Great. I'm eventually gonna have to introduce myself than just to be quiet as a mouse.

Dire Crowley turned to me, "you are the only one who has yet to be assigned a dorm. Step up to the Dark Mirror and be quick about." His hand tightened up around Grim's mouth.

"I'll watch your weasel."

My legs are shaking like jello. Beads of sweat are dripping from my forehead. The faster I could get this done, the faster this will be over. The dorm leaders are shooting me confused glances. Especially that one boy with the lion ears who's eyes are stuck onto me, following my every move.

I can hear the whispers of people. Only just a few, which wasn't all too bad.

I climbed up the small stairs to the face in the dark mirror. In a dark, cold tone, the mirror spoke to me.

"State your name."

I exhaled. "I-I'm Cyguns."

The dark took a few moments before responding.

"Cyguns…"

"The nature of your soul is…."

A few moments of silence. My doom is arriving…

"…unclear to me."

Everyone lets out soft, surprised gasps.

Dire Crowley's expression was shocked aswell. "What did you just say?"

The Dark Mirrior black eyes widen at me, am I supposed to be surprised as well?

"I can sense magical power within the child—but a magical power that I can't describe. Sound is deafening. Vibrant colors. Utterly… gorgeous, but too much."

Everyone is too quiet. I can only glance at Dire Crowely, unsure of what the Dark Mirror was talking about.

"Yet, no dorm is suitable for such power…"

"Therefore, no dorm would be appropriate."

Everyone began to whisper themselves. I could only just stand up here. Confused and overwhelmed.

"Are you suggesting that the black carriage went to receive a person who's magic is so intense that it's impossible to comprehend?" Dire Crowley sounded strangely astonished rather than alerted.

"I'm so confused.." I muttered.

Grim managed to get out of Dire Crowley's grip, gasping relived for the air coming back to him.

"ME! Let ME have his seat!" He shouted, pointing at me.

"Not so fast, you hyperactive weasel!"

"Unlike that human, my magic is suitable for any dorm! So let me be a student here!" Grim confidence beamed. "Look, I'll show you! My spells're the cat's meow!"

"Wait, Grim!—"

I tried stopping him by summoning his blue flames, but it was too late.

"Everyone, get down!" The handsome boy ordered.

I quickly crouched, whipping my arms to cover my face. Grim roared loudly. Blue flames engulfed, cackling in determination and boldness. Everyone began to panic as they began to back up from the blue flames surrounding me and the dorm leaders.

The boy with shiny, red eyes began to scream.

"AHHHHH!!! HELP! I'm on fire over here!" He said, patting his behind as he screamed in agony.

Dire Crowley pointed a strict finger towards Grim, "someone catch that blasted animal before it sets the entire school ablaze!" He demanded.

But, everyone else was too afraid to step up.

The boy with Lion Ears sighed. "I mean, that student looked too different from the rest…but I can't bring myself to care. Ugh. Can I go now, or…?"

The handsome boy glared at him, placing a hand on his hips. "Oh? I thought you fancied yourself a hunter. Go and help yourself to that plumb little furball of a monster!"

The boy with lion ears scoffed. "Too much work. Do it yourself."

The boy with glasses smiled at Crowley. "Allow me to handle this, Headmage Crowley."

I'm surprised how most of the leaders can stay calm despite being circled around the blue flame circle.

"If none of you are up to the task of catching a small animal, I will accept the responsibility." He seemed to overjoyed for this.

"Rackin' up those participation credits." The voice from the table said.

"Hey, um, my butt's still on fire! Could some maybe put this out?!"

Dire Crowley's voice roared, "I'm sorry, were my instructions unclear?!"

The boy with lion ears sighed. "Preeetty sure you, or maybe the new student over there, can handle catching one mangy weasel all on your lonesome there."

I turned to the boy with lion ears. My eyebrows furrowed, my voice raising a bit. "And how am I supposed to stop him? Why do you keep bringing me up?"

The boy with lion ears raised one eyebrow at me, "I thought you had an unclear magical power that not even the Dark Mirror can comprehend?"

I stopped talking for a moment, before stammering my words. "W-what does that have to do with anything right now?!"

The boy with glasses, now named "Azul," spoke with such a tone that just sounds joyous for this to be happening.

"Aren't you a spunky little fellow?" He teased Grim, before turning to the red headed boy, "Riddle, would you be so kind…?"

"Furry miscreant. I will abide no rule-breaking. You will be judged by my hand."

Oh my stars, this isn't at all good.
