Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

Quickly and without delay Wyatt arrived at the classroom before the professor even arrived and giving a quick glance at the classroom he quickly opted for a seat in the middle section of the room. Neither so close that the professor could see what he was doing and ask him questions nor so far as to not pay attention to what the professor was saying in class; he was basically in what could be called the sweet spot of the classroom.

The class he had at the first hour of the day was Arts and Humanities, a general course for most new students who had not completed their first year of their major. Once he arrived at the place he left his backpack on the chair at his side while taking a seat and taking his laptop out of the backpack and opening the class website.

Seeing how the professor still had not arrived and he had free time he decided to open his Instagram to see if there was something interesting to see on it. The first post that appeared on his feed was one from the tigers university team in which there were videos of the training session they had had a few minutes ago. The official account of the university football team had more than 500 thousand followers which demonstrated how popular and beloved the team was in the student community and in general. Seeing the post Wyatt immediately decided to comment on it and share it through his own profile. @SterlingW: Looking forward to the start of this season 💪💪#tigers#clemson#gotigers

Finishing posting that Wyatt continued scrolling through the website until he felt how the seat at his side made a noise, a sign that someone had occupied the seat at his side. Without looking up at any moment Wyatt remained focused on his affairs, something that the person sitting at his side felt as a complete offense.

"Uhum" cleared her throat the girl seeking to call his attention to which Wyatt looked up briefly in her direction before fixing it again on the screen of his laptop.

"Need something?" he asked suddenly feeling how the girl's gaze remained fixed on him as if she wanted to tell him something.

"I just wanted to talk to you" she told him with a side smile while she did not look away from Wyatt who remained concentrated on his laptop. "And why is that?" Wyatt finally asked her turning and looking more closely at the girl who was at his side who was throwing him a big smile.

"I simply thought you were cute and that we could be good friends" she told him in a low voice while her hand was immediately placed on Wyatt's hand who upon understanding the intentions of the girl in question slightly pulled his hand away.

The girl was pretty, that was something that Wyatt could not deny with her neatly combed brown hair and her smile with which her dimples were marked; she was the type of girl who knew she was pretty and had the confidence to use it to her advantage.

"Look, I'm not interested" was Wyatt's simple answer hoping that the girl in question would not be an intense one and would know how to understand that he was not in search of any kind of relationship at this precise moment.

"That's what they all say" said the girl without understanding the message. "But I know I can make you change your mind about that" she said while her hand slowly slid until reaching Wyatt's bicep and giving it a slight squeeze.

"I'm Ashley by the way" she told him with a sensual smile while she tucked her hair behind her ear under the attentive gaze of Wyatt who did not look impressed at all. "In case you change your mind, here is my number" she told him while extending a paper on which a phone number was written to then stand up and return to her group of friends who had been paying attention to everything that happened.

Seeing the phone number he had in his hand Wyatt put it directly in his pocket without even giving it a second look before the professor arrived just in time to begin with the class.

"Good morning students" said the teacher while leaving his things on the table in front of the chalkboard and began with his introduction of the course and other important dates that should be taken into account to start directly with the classes.

1 hour and a half later.

"And that would be all for today please do not forget to review the chapters of the book" the teacher told them while finishing organizing his things in his briefcase and went straight out of the classroom while the students did the same.

Wyatt immediately stood up with the backpack on his shoulder while immediately heading toward the classroom exit before being approached again by Ashley. "So, did you think about my proposal?" she asked him standing in front of him blocking his way toward the exit.

"It's still a no" said Wyatt slightly frustrated since during the whole class Ashley had not stopped looking in his direction or making insinuations which he decided to ignore as much as he could.

"Come on, it will be fun" said Ashley approaching a little more invading Wyatt's personal space to which he simply retreated instinctively.

"Look, I already told you no, so don't bother" he told her this time in a deeper and more severe tone hoping that this way she would manage to understand that he didn't want anything with her.

After hearing the change in Wyatt's voice Ashley stayed slightly paralyzed since usually nobody treated her like that and in high school she was practically the queen for whom all the boys were dying to be with and that had not changed much since she arrived at Clemson.

Seeing how Ashley retreated slightly Wyatt decided to pass by her side leaving the hallway leaving Ashley standing there until one of her friends who had witnessed everything approached her and took her out of her stupor.

"Ashley are you okay?" her friend asked her upon seeing the state in which her friend was. "Don't think about him, he's just an idiot" her friend continued saying throwing venom in the direction where Wyatt had gone out without even turning to give a second look at what was happening.

"Maybe, but he's a sexy idiot" said Ashley while slightly biting her lip remembering the expression that Wyatt had made in that moment.

"And he will be mine" were the thoughts that Ashley had in her head at that moment not willing to let Wyatt escape from her claws until he was hers.

A look of concern crossed her friend's face upon seeing a facet of Ashley that until now she had not known, reason why she decided to simply leave the classroom along with her.

Wyatt without knowing that he was Ashley's target instead headed straight toward the university cafeteria to eat his midday meal and recover energies after the exhausting first training session and the class this morning.

Arriving at the cafeteria he immediately took one of the trays that were in the corner and began to stand in line along with the rest of the students who just like him were hungry and looking to eat before their next class or activity they had pending.

Once it was his turn Wyatt did not skimp on serving himself fruit, pasta and a lot of food full of calories with which he would replenish the calories he had spent this morning.

Finishing serving himself he immediately approached the lady in charge of charging and took out his student card to which all the food expenses and others he made inside the university campus were charged.

Being a student-athlete both the food and the lodging of Wyatt inside the university were paid for by Clemson reason why Wyatt did not have to worry about how much he spent or making ends meet; his only mission was to perform well on the field and maintain a good academic average something with which he could agree.

Looking for a free table Wyatt immediately sat at a table next to the window and while he ate his gaze rested on the university landscape and on the students who walked around the campus.

Feeling how the seat in front of him moved Wyatt fixed his attention on Laquon who seemed that he had also finished his first class of the day and was preparing to find something to eat.

"Old man, who would think that math would be so complicated" said Laquon pitifully while leaving his tray directly on the table and began to rant about his first class in the university.

At that Wyatt did nothing more than roll his eyes while fixing his gaze again to the outside and listening to how his friend continued ranting about derivatives and mathematical functions which he did not see the point of.

"It's not that bad" Wyatt told him who had taken the same class as him last semester and had done relatively well. "Think that in football math is also used" that single phrase caused Laquon to put on a look of horror.

"That's not true, I just catch the ball based on my instincts" Laquon told him not willing to believe that math was involved in football.

"Think about when I throw the ball" Wyatt told him while making the throwing pose as if he had an invisible ball in his hands. "In order for the throw to reach you or any other player on the field I must quickly calculate the distance, the angle and the optimal parabola that the ball must take so that it reaches where I want" next Wyatt made the gesture as if he were throwing the ball across the entire cafeteria.

"I still believe that instincts are better" said Laquon reluctant to accept the firmly argued opinion of his friend but while that was happening Laquon's gaze fixed on another table in which one of the people sitting there had their gaze firmly placed on their table or rather on the person sitting in front of Laquon.

"Friend don't turn around but a girl won't stop looking in your direction" said Laquon with a smile while his gaze rested on the girl in question but nevertheless Wyatt did not even react to that news and continued concentrated on his tray he had in front of him.

Wyatt without needing to turn around already had an idea of who the person in question could be reason why he found no reason to turn and see in that direction. "Leave her, I'm not interested" he told him without hesitation while taking another spoonful of food to his mouth.

"Are you sure friend?" Laquon asked him who gave a second look at the girl and immediately gave her a 9/10 rating being clearly someone very attractive.

"For now I care more about the start of the season" Wyatt told him causing Laquon to also get serious knowing that the season...

The first game of the season for the tigers will be Saturday, August 31, in which they would face the Georgia Bulldogs team here at Memorial Stadium.

"Do you think you'll get any playing minutes?" Laquon asked him seriously knowing that the starting quarterback position was firmly held by Tajh.

"My goal is to play the entire 4th quarter" Wyatt told him who was also realistic and knew that, effectively, Coach Swinney will not let him start as a starter unless something happened to Tajh before the game.

"You, on the other hand, have a chance to start," Wyatt told him remembering Laquon's performances in training and the look that the coaches directed in his direction.

the wide receiver position was more competitive since by having 3 positions Laquon had many chances to be able to start as a starter in the next game against Georgia.

"Do you think so?" Laquon thought excitedly imagining stepping onto Memorial Stadium under the shouts of the crowd of Clemson students chanting his name at the moment he caught the pass that gave the victory to the tigers team.

"But first you have to learn the playbook," said Wyatt, causing Laquon, who before was imagining a great scenario, to deflate, thinking that he had to study and memorize hundreds of plays.

"Don't forget that in the afternoon is the film session," Wyatt told him while finishing picking up his tray and preparing to go to his next class, leaving his friend who still had a look of defeat, thinking about how he would combine university study with football.
