I didn't know how long I'd been out. Could've been minutes. Could've been hours. My head felt like someone had used it for batting practice. I squeezed my eyes shut again, waited a second, then tried opening them slower this time so the light wouldn't feel like it was trying to kill me.

When the room finally came into focus, I let out a tired breath. Same old place. Same concrete walls with the water stains in the corner, same metal chair I was tied to, same faint smell of rust and old blood. This was the spot they always dragged me to. I knew the route by heart at this point.

Too lazy to do anything about it, though. Ambushing them, killing every last one of them, burning the whole damn building down — it sounded like way too much work for a Tuesday.
