Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11: SWEET REVENGE GONE WRONG

‎AN: Bonus chapter

*****

Alice rushed into the room, with a blue sword forming in her right hand, and a small shield materializing in her left.

‎Her class granted her two skills; one that allowed her to use her mana to create weapon constructs, of which she could manage these two for the moment, and a passive called weapon mastery, that allowed her to quickly build experience in handling any weapon she wield.

‎Having allocated the majority of her free attribute points into the agility stat, Alice's body sliced through the air in a blur.

‎The first zombie that had reacted to movement outside the room lunged at her first, but Alice merely slid under it, her face a perfect pool of calm.

‎With her skirt offering coverage against the floor's friction, she closed the distance to the second zombie who had just reacted to her entrance, as her body spun, still in her kneeling position, her forward momentum guiding her sword stroke in a sharp yet elegant arc.

‎The sword construct met no resistance at all and smoothly separated the zombie from its legs at the knee.

‎The zombie fell forward helplessly while Alice rose to her feet gracefully, her small shield connecting with the zombie's lower jaw.

‎-BAM!

‎-CRACK!

‎The female zombie's neck twisted backward grotesquely, the skin on its front neck torn with just a few threads still connecting its head to the torso, while the immense force flung the corpse away.

‎But Alice couldn't relax, as she felt the air rush toward her, and not a breath after, a shadow loomed over her.

‎She was able to barely twist around in time to see the burly zombie, now covered in bony armor, shove its left hand forward in a backhand slap.

‎-BANG!

‎Despite raising her shield to block the attack, the immense force still sent Alice flying sideways into the wall.

‎The undead turned and was about to continue its assault, but it wouldn't get its chance.

‎Alice was able to twist her body around still in mid-air and smoothly landed on the wall with both feet, her knees slightly bent.

‎Pushing away from the wall, she flew high into the air, her raised sword almost touching the ceiling.

‎At the same time, she dumped her remaining attribute points she had been saving for emergencies into her strength stat, and slashed the sword down with all her might, the force of gravity adding more strength to her attack.

‎The sword cleaved through the zombie, bone and skin offering no resistance, as Alice landed lightly before the undead.

‎A thin line formed from the top of the zombie's head down to its lower body, and soon after, a shower of blood bloomed in the air as the undead split vertically, both halves falling to the ground.

[YOU HAVE KILLED A LEVEL 3 ZOMBIE(RARE)]

‎[YOU HAVE LEVELED UP!]

‎[+1 TO ALL STATS, AND +4 FREE ATTRIBUTE POINTS GAINED]

LEVEL : 4 (0/160)

‎Barely thirty breaths passed from the beginning of the clash to the end, which was an impressive feat.

‎But what she didn't know was that Kael was even more formidable.

‎"Haa." Alice released a light breath and quickly moved towards the door, her work still not done.

‎It was then she saw it!

‎Her sister standing rooted a bit away from the entrance, her gaze fixed in the direction Kael had left in.

‎Alice wasn't any different, as she lost her usual impassive expression, her face turning pale and a look of horror flashing within the depth of her eyes.

‎There, at the entrance of the room Kael had entered, stood the Level 10 Undead, and with not so much of a glance, two dark roots flew out from the back of the zombie, their pointed ends rushing at their figures.

‎Alice was barely able to duck and roll to the side away from the attack.

‎Her body flowed fluidly from the roll to her feet, as she threw herself in the path of the other root moving towards her sister.

‎-BAM!

‎The raised shield shattered instantly, the force sending her flying away like a ragdoll.

‎She collided with her younger sister, their bodies tumbling together on the ground as they rolled away to the other side of the corridor.

‎*****

‎Kael grinned victoriously when the countdown of his previous two points agility boost passed, yet his stat remained fixed at ten, confirming his theory.

‎The zombie sensing his attack miss was about to growl in anger only for Kael's good hand to blur upward, his speed-enhanced fist connecting with the monster's lower jaw in a devastating uppercut.

‎-BAM!

‎The zombie staggered backward as spit flew from its mouth.

‎Still in that flow state, Kael moved forward like a shadow glued to the zombie.

‎'This is boring...'

‎He had thought the undead would be able to offer some challenge and might even prove troublesome, yet he was left disappointed at the moment.

‎It wasn't even a fight.

‎Sure, the zombie was higher level than him and must have higher stats too, but with Energi to bridge the gap between their stats and considering the zombie had zero intellect, which would be reflected in its mind stat, Kael found the undead almost...

‎'Weak.'

‎He flashed a toothy grin as his hands blurred into motion.

‎The act of overwhelming an opponent through sheer power sent that familiar rush through him.

‎[IGNITION FIST!]

‎His right hand pulled the zombie closer to him, while golden flames ignited on his left stump.

‎The pointed bone at the end of his limb cut into the undead's abdomen, the golden flames around it licking and searing the surrounding flesh.

‎This was something he had mistakenly done when he killed the very first zombie he had encountered.

‎-RO...

‎The zombie almost growled out, yet Kael simply released his grip on its arm and slammed his palm up once again, shutting its opened mouth with sheer brutal force.

‎A tongue flew into the air as black blood splashed onto Kael's face

‎He merely grinned maniacally and whispered:

‎'I told you I will butcher you!'

‎He sent three points of ENERGI into his strength stat and pulled violently upward, his still plunged limb cleaving the undead from its abdomen up and out the top of its skull.

‎Intestines, innards, and fluid sprayed out with blood as the undead fell down, deader than dead.

[LV. 5 ZOMBIE(RARE) KILLED]

‎[10 EXP GAINED!]

‎'Nice!'

‎A feeling of happiness welled inside Kael as he flashed a satisfied smile.

‎Though the smile stiffened ever so slightly when he saw the next message.

[EXP (23/100)]

‎'Are you trying to pull my leg, system? Jeez, you don't need to show me. I already know.'

‎He sighed helplessly, before comforting himself:

‎'Well, it's not that bad. In the long run, the stat surplus I am guessing I will receive would make me as strong as someone several levels above me.'

‎Kael's toothy grin returned once again as he thought of his grand future only for his eyes to widen.

‎Goosebumps spread over his skin, and a feeling of unease almost overwhelmed him.

‎Before he could react, a black root pierced into his right shoulder, sending him staggering forward.

‎"Hmm..."

‎Even as a spike of pain shot through his body, Kael was able to hold back his scream and merely grunted, as he quickly turned to face the new threat.

‎The previous root tore out of him, while two new ones burrowed into his abdomen once again before he could react.

‎There, standing at the doorway, was a zombie barely a meter and half tall.

‎From the zombie's attire, Kael could tell it was a girl.

‎Yes, Kael could only make a guess from the clothes because the zombie's scalp was bare, its eye sockets empty and leaking a yellowish pus, while the flesh in its exposed chest was mangled and bloodied.

‎A root came out of its disgusting mouth, but this time with an eerie-looking eyeball, with crimson red sclera and snake-like pupil currently locked onto him at its end.

‎The roots tearing into his abdomen came from the zombie's mangled chest, and before Kael could react, two more black roots tore out of the undead's back before flying out and deep into the corridor.

‎Also, above the zombie floated not the level 10 he was expecting. Instead, what he saw was...

‎[LV 11 ZOMBIE(RARE)]

The bright orange text appeared so glaring in his vision.

‎'How the fuck did its level increase, or is this another one of these crazy motherfuckers?'

‎Kael's thoughts churned furiously even as the eerie eyeball drew closer to him and his body was lifted off the ground.

‎Just when Kael felt he was adjusting to the apocalypse, fate pulled this horror out to crush that thought.

‎'Bloody hell...'
