Chapter 57 - Convergence Echo: When the Past Reaches the Present

The world didn't warn them.

It changed.

Kael stopped mid-step.

Not because he sensed danger.

Because the space ahead of him no longer felt consistent.

"…Something's wrong," Riven said immediately.

No jokes this time.

Elara didn't speak.

Her eyes were fixed forward again.

The air looked normal.

The ground looked the same.

But something underneath it—

was shifting.

"…They've started," she whispered.

Kael's gaze sharpened.

"…Who?"

Elara hesitated.

"…All of them."

Convergence Echo Reaches Them

The ground beneath their feet flickered.

Not breaking.

Overlaying.

For a moment—

another world appeared over theirs.

A silent plane.

No sky.

No ground.

Only layered light.

Then it vanished.

Riven stepped back.

"…Yeah, I saw that."

Kael nodded slightly.

"…So did I."

Elara closed her eyes briefly.

"…They're meeting," she said.

"…And the past is moving with them."

Silence followed.

Because none of them fully understood what that meant.

Riven's Instinct Fracture

Riven suddenly went still.

"…No…"

Kael turned.

"…What is it?"

Riven didn't answer immediately.

His eyes were locked on empty space.

"…That place…" he muttered.

"…I've seen it…"

The world around him shifted—

just for him.

Fragment — Riven's Past

Darkness.

Not Shadow Clan.

Something else.

A ruined field.

Burned.

Broken.

A presence standing far away.

Unclear.

But overwhelming.

Riven—younger—stood frozen.

Unable to move.

Unable to breathe.

A voice echoed:

"You are not part of this."

Another:

"Leave."

And then—

pressure.

Crushing.

Absolute.

Riven's knees hit the ground.

"…I couldn't move…" he whispered in the present.

Back to Present

"…Riven."

Kael's voice snapped him back.

He blinked.

Breathing uneven.

"…That wasn't just memory," Riven said.

"…That was real."

Kael didn't question it.

"…What did you see?"

Riven looked away slightly.

"…Him."

Silence.

Kael's voice lowered.

"…Vireon."

Riven didn't confirm.

Didn't deny.

That was enough.

Elara's Second Shift

Elara stepped forward slowly.

"…It's getting closer," she said.

Kael moved beside her instantly.

"…What is?"

She looked ahead.

"…The moment they decided."

The air tightened again.

Past Overlay — Second Echo

This time—

all three saw it.

A flash.

Clans.

Not divided.

Standing together.

A central structure.

Core-like.

Voices overlapping:

"This cannot continue."

"The system will collapse."

"Then we divide it."

Elara's breath caught.

"…No…"

The image shifted—

A figure standing near the core.

Unclear.

But familiar.

Standing in front of someone else.

Protecting them.

Then—

fracture.

Everything split apart.

The vision ended.

Realization

Silence returned.

Riven exhaled slowly.

"…Okay…"

"…I'm officially done calling this 'coincidence.'"

Kael's eyes narrowed.

"…That wasn't just past," he said.

"…That was a decision."

Elara nodded slowly.

"…The one that broke everything."

Convergence Pressure Increases

The environment reacted again.

The ground cracked slightly—

not from force—

from instability.

"Divine convergence nearing completion."

The voice wasn't external.

It came from the system itself.

Riven looked around.

"…Why does it feel like we're being pulled into something?"

Kael answered immediately.

"…Because we are."

Subtle Elara Moment

Elara stepped closer again.

Not consciously.

"…If they decide again…" she whispered,

"…will I disappear?"

Kael looked at her.

"…No."

No hesitation.

No doubt.

"…Not while I'm here."

Riven glanced at them—

but didn't interrupt.

For once.

Final Shift

The sky above them fractured slightly.

Not breaking.

Opening.

A distant convergence point became faintly visible.

Not fully.

Just enough to feel its presence.

Five authorities.

One decision.

And somehow—

they were connected to it.

Elara looked up.

"…This time…"

Her voice steadied.

"…we won't let them decide for us."

Kael didn't respond.

Because for the first time—

he was starting to realize—

They weren't just moving through the system.

They were about to enter its origin.
