This was not unusual in itself. Lucas kept spreadsheets for everything—coffee temperatures at exactly 155 degrees Fahrenheit, the forty-seven functions of the microwave, Vivian's smile frequency before and after the confession, the exact number of days since he had stopped waiting and started being. His tablet contained more data than most corporate servers, all of it meticulously organized, color-coded, and cross-referenced. Kevin had once described Lucas's filing system as "the most comprehensive personal database I have ever encountered, and I have encountered seventeen." Lucas had taken this as a professional compliment.
But this spreadsheet was different. This spreadsheet was personal in a way his other documentation was not, and he had kept it hidden for two full weeks.
