Chapter 2 - The Vow of the Last Apostle

Then I made it to the door where I had originally heard that dark voice, but as I approached it I was hesitant about removing the seal that could lead me to even greater power. While removing it could mean that I get enough power to kill the people that were killing my brother I was worried about what level of darkness that removing the seal would possibly unleash.

"I can sense that you are unsure of the decision that you are about to make, but you must remember what it felt like to lose yet another person of your family to these insane religious practices of the final human city.

Remember that they buried your father alive, and they chose to take a very extreme measure with your mother. They chose to burn her alive in a public square just because she gave her daily rations to those that were unable to work due to an injury or an illness. Never forget the rage that this gives you.

If you open that door there is power that you can claim as your own behind it. when you take this power for yourself you will be more than a standard human. To others of your race, you will like a god. As a god you will be able to remake this city however you want." The mysterious dark voice said to me as I pulled back from the door out of fear.

The thought of what had happened to my parents sent my blood to that point of boiling out of rage.

"Maintain that rage that are now feeling. If you remember that feeling then you will be able to find what it is that you seek, the power to rule this city of humans however you please." The dark voice said to as I was stepping towards the door.

I decided that I would trust this dark voice as least for now. If he could lead me to the power that I needed to rule and reshape this flawed system that I lived in then I would throw caution to the wind and see what it is that is behind this door,

As I walked to the door, I ripped off the seal and tore it into a bunch of small pieces. Then I threw it on the ground.

I opened the door and noticed that there was a set of broken stairs that seemed to not had any maintenance done to it in a very long time.

When I made my way to the stairs, I took my time taking only one step at a time to ensure that I do not fall with each step that I took away from the light from above and into the darkness that lied below me."

The darkness made it very difficult to see what was in front of me. With every step my world went black bit by bit.

When the area around me went black the only thing that I could see was a pedestal that had a glowing object on it. it was very difficult to see what was on it clearly due to the darkness that surrounded it. the only source of light was a dark almost blood red energy that I saw coming from the pedestal.

"Come towards the source of the light. That is where you can claim the power that I promised you." The dark voice said to me.

I started to approach the source of this glowing red light and as I came closer to it I noticed that the glow was coming from the pedestal was in fact a square shaped artifact that had a shattered cross with a red skull on it.

"Take the artifact and place your right hand on it so that you may begin the process that will allow you to absorb the power that it contains."

I took a step forward and as I did, I felt a sudden temptation to touch the artifact, but as I almost contacted it, I hesitated because if I were to do this there would be no going back. My normal life would be over forever; this would begin my journey to rule this city.

"Remember wat they had done to your family."

The rage inside of me began to rise to the point of boiling as soon as the voice had brought up my family. The way they killed them made me become raged at the thought of it. Because of how I feeling I ignored my instinct and just walked up to the artifact.

It was black and cube shaped with a shattered white cross that was cut down the middle. In front of the cross I could see a red demon head that had two pairs of horns on top of it. it also had a black x shaped tattoo that was black on the top center of his head.

I stretched out my right hand and grabbed the artifact as I felt the smooth texture of it I felt a rush of energy course through me, and then deep male voice started to talk to me again.

"To absorb the power that is within this artifact and claim it as your own you must make say this vow."

As the voice began to speak, I started to say it as soon as the words left his lips. The more that I spoke these words the more that I felt them bound to my soul.

"Bind my soul to steal. Let my weapon know me as I know it until neither can exist without the other. I make a promise to live by The Vow of the Black Blade."

After I finished speaking that artifact in my hand began to shift until it was turned into a massive great sword that was black and it had an opening that suddenly filled with the same symbol that I saw on the artifact only a few moments ago.

I could hear footsteps behind me that were getting closer with every passing second. When it got close to me, I could see a light source that caused me to swiftly turn around to see where the light was coming from.

As I spun around, I noticed that the great sword was thrust into something. I could see streams of a red liquid that seemed to flow down his body faster with every passing second.

With the limited light that was being provided by the person who had come down into this dark chamber I could notice that they were a bald priest who had come down here with a lantern and they laid lifeless on my new great sword.

After a bit of time the rush that had come with making the vow faded and I started to walk out of the room. With every step my strength started to slip away as if my body had used too much energy to kill this priest.

When I made it back up to the hallway that led me to this dark room I fell to my knees and the world started to get hazy and fade around me.

The final thing that I saw was a pir of paladins in white armor with their great swords pointed at me.
