Shuya let out a long breath after leaving Kie's house.
He could guess what she really wanted. She didn't think the chances of her family turning back into humans were very high. Tanjiro and Takeo were determined to join the Demon Slayer Corps and learn Water Breathing. In her eyes, they probably wouldn't even be able to take care of themselves, let alone look after Nezuko and Hanako.
So she was hoping he would look after the two girls.
Especially since she was a woman. She knew exactly how important it was for a girl to have someone steady to rely on in times like these.
As for the "both sisters" part… well, for people in this era, especially from ordinary families like the Kamados, it wasn't that hard to accept.
And honestly, Kie couldn't think of any other way to repay him.
Shuya understood. But Nezuko was one thing—she was old enough, and he had already planned to contract her once she mastered Sun Breathing. Hanako, though… she was still too young. That would depend entirely on what she wanted when she grew up.
By then, Tamayo would probably have already finished the reversion drug anyway.
"Lord… Lord Shuya—"
A familiar voice pulled him out of his thoughts.
Under the cold moonlight stood a slender figure in a crisp Demon Slayer uniform. Two braids framed her face, each tied with a small blue butterfly clip. Her blue eyes reflected only him.
It was Aoi Kanzaki, the head caretaker of the Butterfly Mansion.
"Aoi? Why are you still awake this late?" Shuya asked, surprised.
Aoi looked up at the moon, then bit her lip. Her voice came out small and nervous. "The… the moon is beautiful tonight."
Shuya paused. That old-fashioned line. He hadn't expected to hear it here.
He smiled anyway and reached out his hand. "Yeah. Want to watch it with me, Aoi?"
"Yes!"
Aoi nodded quickly. That was exactly why she had stayed up—so she could catch him alone.
She had overheard Saeko teaching Mitsuri about love and stolen that line. Now she had used it first.
They walked together through the wisteria forest. Petals drifted down around them in the moonlight. Aoi leaned her head against his chest while he played with her soft hands.
The thought of secretly meeting him like this while Kanae and the others were asleep made her heart race.
Shuya looked down at her flushed face and felt his own desire stir. He leaned close to her ear. "Aoi… can I kiss you?"
Her ears burned. She gave the tiniest nod.
Shuya didn't hold back. He cupped her cheek and kissed her. It wasn't their first kiss, but it still made both of them dizzy. His hands wandered, and Aoi didn't stop him. She liked the way he touched her—like he was claiming her.
Then a soft cough cut through the moment.
Aoi jerked back and turned toward the sound.
Kanae Kocho stood quietly under the moonlight, watching them with a gentle smile.
"Kanae-nee…" Aoi's voice trembled. She had been so careful to keep this hidden.
Kanae's purple eyes stayed calm, but there was a hint of amusement in them. "Did it feel good, Aoi?"
Aoi panicked. "Kanae-nee, listen to me—"
Kanae raised a finger and gently pressed it against Aoi's lips. "It's fine. It's late. Go back and rest. Let me talk with Shuya for a bit."
Aoi looked at Shuya, who didn't seem the least bit worried, then back at Kanae. She bit her lip and nodded. There was nothing else she could do.
Once Aoi was gone, Kanae finally let go of her restraint. She stepped forward and threw herself into Shuya's arms, breathing him in greedily.
"Shuya~"
Shuya wrapped his arms around her and played with a strand of her hair. "So, Kanae… want to tell me what that little performance was about?"
Kanae pressed her face against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. "I did it on purpose."
"I figured," Shuya said. He had already guessed. "But why now?"
Kanae's voice was soft. "Because Shinobu's still asleep in her room right now."
That was all it took for Shuya to understand.
Ever since Kanae became his contractor, Shinobu had been strangely possessive. She didn't mind Kanae being close to him, but she watched her sister like a hawk. It made private time between him and Kanae rare.
Tonight, because he had gone to find Tamayo, Shinobu had finally let her guard down.
Kanae looked up at him with a playful smile. "I'm a girl too, you know."
Shuya pinched her cheek. "So my gentle big-sister Kanae actually knows how to act spoiled?"
She didn't deny it. Instead she leaned in and whispered against his ear, "Love me."
Shuya's blood ran hot.
Without another word, he picked her up and opened the Crossing Gate, carrying her straight into Greed Island.
Meanwhile, in Shinobu's room…
Shinobu's face was flushed deep red. She tossed and turned in her sleep, body burning hot.
In her dream, she was being held tightly by her sister. Then the face above her changed into Shuya's.
She jolted awake.
"Sister?"
She reached out and felt only cold sheets. Kanae had been gone for a while.
"Scumbag! Mister! Scumbag!!"
Shinobu sat up immediately. She knew exactly what was happening. Her sister had gone to find Shuya.
She threw on her slippers and hurried toward Shuya's room. The door wasn't locked. She pushed it open—empty.
Just as she was about to leave, a sudden, overwhelming sensation crashed through her body.
A broken moan escaped her throat before she could stop it.
Shinobu slapped both hands over her mouth, eyes wide with shock. She had never made a sound like that before.
The pleasure kept coming in waves. Her legs gave out and she collapsed onto Shuya's bed. His scent was still on the sheets, making everything feel even more intense.
She bit down on the blanket, trying desperately to stay quiet while her body trembled.
This was why she always kept such a close eye on her sister.
Because of their contract, they shared sensations.
Right now, wherever Shuya was, he was doing something to Kanae—and Shinobu was feeling every single bit of it.
She cursed him in her mind, but her body had no strength left to move.
Finally, when the sensation peaked, Shinobu's entire body arched.
"Shuya, you bastard!!"
Her vision went white.
