Chapter 19: The Assist, Lan Enters the Scene
Arriving at the venue, there was none of the noise from outside. The soothing music was intoxicating. Under the bright lights, a few people gathered together, whispering to each other. Lan Xingyu really liked this melodious music.
Lan Xingyu walked up to the bar, and a waiter approached, looking at the cute child in front of him with a bit of surprise. But, remaining very professional, he asked, "Little one, what would you like? You can't order alcohol!"
"A cup of milk tea and some desserts, please," Lan Xingyu said. Then he looked around. After all, we are here to watch the ball game in a civilized manner. Suddenly thinking of something, Lan Xingyu put on the sunglasses he had swiped from Tony's car. It perfectly concealed his mischievous gaze.
Just as he was looking around, someone came up beside him.
"May I sit here? Little one?" Lan Xingyu looked toward the voice and saw a man with a receding hairline standing next to him. Lan Xingyu recognized the person at a glance. Indeed, the person was Agent Coulson.
"Aren't you that Agent uncle? Sorry, I can't remember the name of your organization..." Lan Xingyu said, pretending.
"It's fine, you can just call us Shield. Your suggestion last time was excellent. Our higher-ups have already approved this name. Thank you, little one, you saved us a lot of trouble," Coulson said kindly.
"Hehe, it's nothing! Why is Agent uncle here too? Aren't you an Agent? In movies, Agents rarely come to places like this." Lan Xingyu looked curious, though in his heart he was cursing, because with Coulson's arrival, his plan to watch the ball game in a civilized manner had completely failed.
"Not all Agents are like those in the movies. Take me, for example; I am an Agent who specializes in negotiation issues. But I am also very capable," Coulson said.
At this moment, the waiter brought the milk and desserts that Lan Xingyu had ordered to the bar.
"Let me help you." Coulson took the tray and placed it in front of Lan Xingyu.
"Thank you." Lan Xingyu took off his sunglasses and began to taste the food. Oh well. Since the plan to watch the ball game failed, he certainly couldn't waste this delicious food.
"By the way, my name is Phil Coulson. What is your name, little one?" Coulson asked.
"My name is Xingyu. Lan. Nice to meet you, Uncle Coulson," Xingyu replied.
Just then, Tony also walked into the venue and spotted Lan Xingyu at a glance.
"Hey, you're fast! Oh, you're already eating," Tony said.
"Hi Tony."
"Aren't you that..."
"You can just call us Shield, an opinion provided by Xingyu! The higher-ups approved it unanimously."
"Oh, when was this, Xingyu? You're quite impressive. Did they pay you a naming fee?" he teased.
Lan Xingyu gave Tony a look that said, 'figure it out yourself.'
"I'm going to go look around elsewhere, you guys talk." Lan Xingyu left his seat; he needed to scout the location first. Lan Xingyu thought to himself: I remember Tony and Pepper Potts were about to kiss on a rooftop, found it.
Lan Xingyu arrived at the rooftop, feeling the breeze, ready to watch the most interesting scene of the night. Sure enough, it wasn't long before Tony and Pepper Potts came out, though it seemed their attention wasn't on this. Next came a conversation.
"It feels too strange."
"It doesn't matter at all."
"It definitely matters."
"We just danced. No one was watching."
"No, all my colleagues. No, that's not it, do you know why?"
...
Suddenly, both of them stopped talking and slowly got closer and closer. Lan Xingyu was watching so intently he forgot to eat. As expected, gossip is the eighth great instinct of humanity.
But just as they were about to kiss, they both stopped.
Lan Xingyu just thought, 'What the hell? I've waited so long and you're just going to end it like a damp squib? No way, it seems in the end, it's still up to me, the Assist Lan.'
Lan Xingyu turned into a streak of light, flashed behind Pepper Potts, and gave a gentle push. The lips that had just parted were now completely locked together. Pepper Potts seemed to have cast aside her previous concerns. Her two arms rested gently on Tony's shoulders, and Tony also gently held Pepper Potts. Two hearts that were already close were now completely connected.
After a long while, their lips parted, and their eyes met. They remained silent for a long time.
"Uh, although I don't want to disturb you, I must state that I was here first."
A child's voice rang out, giving Pepper Potts a start. She hurriedly pushed Tony away, and only then did she look toward the direction of Lan Xingyu.
"Uh, don't look at me like that, I told you I was here first..." Lan Xingyu smiled mischievously.
"My god, no, Xingyu, that, it wasn't you..." Pepper was a bit incoherent, her face already flushed with red.
"Pepper, would you like a glass of red wine?" Tony asked.
"Mm! Yes, any kind is fine, thank you." Pepper was trying hard to calm her heart.
She only started to feel better after seeing Tony leave.
"Xingyu, was it you who pushed me just now?" After calming down, Pepper Potts immediately realized the peculiarity of the moment and the force that had come from behind.
"No! What push? I don't know what you're talking about!" Lan Xingyu, of course, could not admit it.
Looking at the cute Xingyu putting on an innocent look again, Pepper Potts couldn't stay angry. She could only go over and mess with Xingyu's cheeks to vent her frustration.
After playing for a while, she let Xingyu go and stood on the balcony with Xingyu to catch the breeze.
"Hey, isn't that Tony and Obadiah? Tony's expression looks really bad." Lan Xingyu suddenly pointed in a direction and said.
Pepper Potts looked in the direction Lan Xingyu was pointing, and it really was them. Tony's expression was indeed not good; she saw Tony walk straight to his car and drive away immediately, as if he had something urgent to attend to.
At this moment, Pepper Potts's phone rang. It was Tony calling.
"Tony, are you okay? I saw your face looked terrible just now!"
"I'm fine! Sorry, Pepper Potts, could you please drop Xingyu off later?"
"No need, I'm ready to go back now, there's nothing fun here anymore. Wait, I'll just open a Teleportation Gate!" Lan Xingyu, of course, knew what was happening, and for this kind of matter, Xingyu had to be involved.
"Mm, that works. See you at home then." Tony hung up after saying that.
"Then, Sister Potts, I'll head back first. Good night."
"Mm, get some rest! Good night!"
Lan Xingyu walked to a place where no one was around and opened a Teleportation Gate to return home.
Not long after, Tony returned home, walking toward the laboratory with a gloomy expression.
Xingyu followed him and asked, "What's wrong? What happened, Tony?"
"My company is selling weapons to those terrorists. They just ransacked Yin Sen's hometown. I think I need to do something."
Tony took a sip of the green liquid and continued, "I should have committed suicide long ago, but only by living can I atone for my sins. I need to do something, Xingyu."
"Then what are you waiting for? Once your armor is ready, we set off. This time, we're going to give them something harsh." Lan Xingyu made a palm with one hand and a fist with the other, then slammed the two hands together.
Before long, two streaks of light streaked across the sky...
One's life cannot always be as one wishes, but one only seeks to have no regrets in one's heart. Good morning.
