Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: trinity

The atmosphere above Sector 4 didn't just vibrate; it groaned under the weight of three converging titans. Drayke Void stood with his boots melted into the asphalt, his fingers weaving through the air like a conductor of a lethal orchestra. He wasn't just blowing wind; he was stacking atmospheric plates, creating pressurized layers of air that acted as invisible, razor-sharp walls.

"Reid! Shift the friction to zero! Now!" Drayke roared, his lungs burning as he pulled the oxygen out of the surrounding blocks to fuel his gale.

Reid snapped his fingers, his eyes glowing with a cold, mathematical light. "Vector Shift: Absolute Lubrication." Within a twenty-meter radius, the air resistance vanished. Every law of physics that slowed a human body down was deleted. In that same heartbeat, Liora lunged. Because there was no air friction to hold her back, her speed tripled instantly. She became a blur of white-hot, predatory kinetic energy.

Liora went for a low-crouch spring, launching a sweeping claw aimed at Valkhyre's Achilles tendon. Valkhyre didn't jump; he shifted his center of gravity by a fraction of a millimeter, the claw whistling past his obsidian skin with the sound of a jet engine. Liora transitioned instantly into a mid-air twist, using her beast-tail for balance, and unleashed a flurry of eight rapid-fire strikes: two palm-thrusts to the chest, a double-throat jab, and four serrated kicks aimed at his vitals.

Valkhyre's defense was a masterclass in economy. He didn't waste a single movement. He moved his head an inch to the left, parried the palm-thrusts with the back of his wrists, and caught the final kick with a casual open palm. The shockwave of the catch shattered the windows of every skyscraper within three blocks.

"My turn," Valkhyre whispered, his voice appearing inside their minds before his lips even moved.

He moved at light-speed. Drayke reacted by slamming a High-Pressure Vacuum Wall between them, but Valkhyre punched through the vacuum. The sheer heat generated by his fist moving at those speeds ignited the remaining trace gases into a streak of purple plasma. Reid intercepted, touching the air to Inverse the Gravity Vector of the punch. Valkhyre's fist was forced upward, missing Reid's skull by a hair's breadth, but the wind pressure alone tore a deep gash in Reid's shoulder and sent him skidding fifty meters back.

Liora leaped onto Valkhyre's back, locking her arms in a Rear Naked Choke while simultaneously digging her venomous fangs into his obsidian shoulder. Valkhyre didn't scream. He performed a vertical wall-run up a fallen billboard, flipped backward, and slammed Liora into the ground with the weight of a falling meteor.

Liora rolled through the impact, coughing obsidian dust and red blood. She looked at her claws—there was a single, microscopic smear of violet ichor on the tip. "I... I grazed him."

The Three Captains stood panting, "you're no joke, it's been long since I've fought someone this strong" she said with a smirk "

"Looks like we've gotten rusty Reid and drakye added", " but I must say you're quite entertaining yourself " valkhyre replied while giving a predatory smile.

II. The Underground:

Deep in the bowels of the hideout, the silence was broken by the frantic, wet sound of Sloane's breathing. She was hunched over Kaelen, her palms pressed to his cold chest. Her green light was flickering like a dying candle in a hurricane.

"Please wake up... Kaelen, please," she sobbed, her forehead resting against his. "I'm running out of Evo... I can't hold the internal bleeding much longer... you have to stay with me...", few metres outside the hideout.

Skull stepped over a pile of rubble, his heavy boots crunching on glass. He didn't look at the girl. He looked at the boy. "He's a corpse that hasn't realized it yet, . Move, or be buried with him.", "Shut up" Elias cuts in.

"SKULL! I'M GONNA MAKE YOU PAY!" Elias screamed, his voice cracking with pure, unadulterated rage.

The three of them—Elias, Renji, and Jaxen—moved in a perfect, desperate sync. They didn't have the Captains' elegance, but they had the savage hunger of team mates who had nothing left to lose.

Jaxen led the charge with a High-Voltage Dash, his blue lightning trailing behind him like a jagged cape. He feinted a high punch to draw Skull's guard up and then went for a sliding leg-sweep reinforced by electric discharge. As Skull stepped over it, Renji—with his Star Eyes burning a hole in his sockets—activated his X-Ray vision.

He saw the internal systems and the weak points in skull's body .

"The second abdominal plate! The latch is loose!" Renji yelled.

Renji delivered a precision-point kick to the exact spot his eyes identified. Skull staggered, his balance broken for the first time. Elias didn't waste the window. He lunged in with a Double-Handed Vibration Strike. His arms were vibrating at such a high frequency they looked like a grey blur. He slammed both palms into the center of Skull's chest.

BOOM.

The shockwave sent a visible ripple through the entire area, blowing the dust off the ceiling. Skull was actually pushed back, his boots dragging deep, jagged furrows into the stone floor as he tried to find purchase.

Skull roared, swinging a massive arm to swat Elias away like a fly, but Jaxen caught the arm mid-swing. Jaxen's skin was blistering and turning red from the heat of his own lightning. He used a Grappling Lock, wrapping his legs around Skull's arm and channeling every single volt of his remaining Evo into Skull's elbow joint. Renji reappeared from the shadows, his Star Eyes scanning Skull's throat. He saw the Weakness—a tiny opening in between hyoid bone

Renji drove a heavy, reinforced punch directly into that opening.

Skull, staggered trying to catch his breath

"Keep him moving!" Renji yelled, blood dripping from his eyes as the Star Eyes reached their absolute limit, the stars within them flickering as he forced the X-Ray to go deeper. "Don't let him set his feet! If he plants his weight, we're dead!"

They were pushing him. Step by step, the three broken, bleeding boys were forcing the monster backward , They were fighting with every ounce of muscle and spirit, their knuckles split and raw, their lungs burning for air in the smoke-filled chamber.

Skull was snarling, he struggled to absorb the constant, overlapping rhythm of their strikes. He threw a heavy punch that caught Jaxen in the ribs, sending the lightning-user flying into a stone pillar with a sickening crunch, but Elias was already there to fill the gap, delivering a flying knee that caught Skull's chin.

"Is that all?" Skull growled, even as his head snapped back. "You think anger wins wars?"

He caught Elias by the throat mid-air, but before he could squeeze, Renji slammed a heavy combat boot into the back of Skull's knee— The joint buckled, and Skull dropped to one knee.

The 10th was holding the line, pushing a mountain back through pure coordination. But every second they fought, the green light on Kaelen's chest grew dimmer. The battle was a grinding, bloody stalemate of attrition, and none of them knew how much longer their bodies would hold together.
