Chapter 14:
Ever since Victor came back from the banquet, he had been restless. Something kept nagging at him, refusing to leave his mind.
He couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, and couldn't sit still for more than a minute before his thoughts spiraled out of control. No matter what he did, the feeling only grew stronger.
Finally, he couldn't take it anymore and ordered one of his most trusted men to investigate Yuvan.
The truth was revealed piece by piece.
Yuvan was born in India. His parents died in a house fire when he was still very young.
He was then taken to Canada by Mable Bailey, who raised him there as her own.
He graduated from high school with the highest score in the country before earning his degree from Blackstone University.
His academic record was flawless, and his achievements were enough to make anyone admire him.
Later, he married Sebastian Sterling and became the Sterling family's one and only son-in-law.
But what shocked Victor the most wasn't Yuvan's achievements.
It was the names listed under Parents.
Vincent Blackwood and Anaya Verma.
Victor froze.
His fingers tightened around the investigation report as he stared at the page in disbelief.
The grandson he had been searching for ever since his son's death...
...was Yuvan Sterling.
His eyes slowly filled with tears as memories of the past flashed through his mind. Every mistake he had made and every regret he had buried came rushing back all at once.
His heart ached with guilt.
He sat there in silence for what felt like hours, unable to move.
Finally, he took a deep breath and composed himself.
The past couldn't be changed.
But he could make sure he didn't repeat the same mistakes again.
"Alex," he called quietly.
The door opened almost immediately.
"Yes, Master," Alex replied, standing respectfully with his hands folded behind his back.
"Call a family meeting."
Alex lowered his head.
"At once, Master"
---
The atmosphere in Victor's study was tense as everyone gathered in the room except the person who had called the meeting.
No one knew why Victor had suddenly summoned the entire family, and the silence only made everyone more anxious.
Lucien Blackwood sat in a chair, lightly tapping his fingers on the table. Although his expression remained calm, there was a hint of impatience in his eyes.
After Vincent left, he took over the business even though he had never wanted to.
He had always admired Vincent and believed that his elder brother was the most suitable person to lead the Blackwood family. Unfortunately, his wish never came true.
Vincent left and cut off all contact with him. Lucien tried every possible way to reach him, but he couldn't.
He searched for him for years, refusing to believe that his brother had simply disappeared.
When he finally received the news that Vincent had died and his son was missing, Lucien was the one who took the blow the hardest.
He was so devastated that he couldn't function for days. He locked himself in his office and refused to meet anyone.
After that, he was never the same. He became cold, calculating, and ruthless. However, one thing never changed.
He never stopped searching for his missing nephew.
Years later, he got married and had two children.
He had an elder son named Adrian Blackwood and a younger daughter named Seraphina Blackwood.
Both of them were also in the study.
Adrian leaned against the window frame, looking out at the garden, while Seraphina sat on the couch, absentmindedly scrolling through her phone.
About five minutes later, the study door finally opened.
Victor walked in with Alex following closely behind him, holding a file in his hands.
Lucien immediately stood up. Adrian straightened his posture, while Seraphina quickly put away her phone
"Father, why did you call this meeting so suddenly?" Lucien asked.
"Sit down," Victor said calmly as he walked to his chair and sat down.
Alex stepped forward and handed him the file.
Victor took it without saying a word. His gaze slowly swept across everyone in the room before stopping on Lucien.
He reached out and handed the file to him.
Leaning back in his chair, he spoke only one sentence.
"We found your nephew"
