For the next month, they kept rebuilding, watching Nolen and the other doctors remove most of the diamond, leaving the rest in Jeff, where it was safe for him to keep a maintained level.
They sat in a nature center, surrounded by forests, with guards watching them, some hidden, some not lying low. Jeff looked at them, and his voice was even. "How long are they going to be following us?" Pia replied, snarky, "Until the day we die or when we transfer the power over to someone else." James then asked, "Do we know who we are giving the power over to?" Mason laughed, thinking over, "I have no idea yet, but we will find a way." The sun soon rose over them. As the group looked at one another, Mason looked over to James. He took Pia's hand and got up, saying, "Pia, I've got lovely poppy flowers to show you." Pia was confused, and she got up to say, "Okay, we will be back, guys." Jeff said when they weren't in hearing distance, "They are going to make sure I'm sure of it." Mason, trying to flirt, said, "Well, it's just us now." Jeff sighed heavily, rubbing his hand. "I know it's so hot outside; we should grab drinks after this. Nolan and Nurse Terra told me about this great place." Mason was slightly annoyed, saying, "That sounds great; it can be a date." Jeff looked over to a rainbow flower meadow. "Well, it could be counted as a double date, but we are not a couple, so that would be strange. Plus, James and Pia don't count themselves as a couple either."
Mason rolled his eyes and groaned, grabbing Jeff's face, saying, "Jeff!" Both of their faces went red; Jeff turned his head, looking at him. Mason tilted his head, smirking, and kissed him and started to pull back, saying, "I have been waiting for two months to do that." Jeff froze, saying, "Did you just kiss me?" Mason smiled, shaking his head yes. "If you don't want me to-" Jeff cut him off, kissing him back. James shouted out, "Took you long enough." They both came back and sat down. Mason looked at him, smirking before sighing. Lying back on the bench, looking into the sky. Pia held James' hands as they smiled at each other. Jeff then said, "Does this mean we are dating?" Mason replied, "You idiot, of course," and they all laughed. Mason kissed him again. James rolled his eyes, lying back, looking up into the sky, seeing the double moons, whispering to himself, "We did, we did it!" They looked at each other, James saying louder, "Guys, we finally did." They all smiled, now looking up into the sky.
A week later, Nolen called them into a meeting. "I called you all here; I found my way to your houses, yet we could only see you all home to one universe." Pia, Jeff, and James all looked at each other, saying in unison, "Mason universe." Mason looked at them, puzzled. "Are we sure about this?" They all agreed. Jeff spoke, "We've been talking about if this could ever happen, and we picked yours." Mason cried before they all looked at Nolen and agreed on the Mason universe. They went back to their fancy bedrooms, with a large mirror on the dresser by their bed; they had to share one because of tradition. They didn't mind it when Mason went into the bathroom, closing the door behind him, seeing his facial hair starting to grow in his mustache. James knocked on the door. Mason unlocked it, causing James to come in. "Are you ready for this?" Mason sighed, then Jeff came in with Pia. They all looked at each other in the mirror. Their hair was long and messy, they had large eye bags, and their nails were unkempt. Mason groaned, "I'm about to get in the shower." They all left except Jeff. He smirked, Jeff, "We can try to save water." Mason felt hot. He laughed, "I am just joking." Jeff winked, slowly walking away. Mason wasn't sure what to say. They made a public statement to give all their power to Nolen. Many people were surprised, and others were happy about it. As the night turned, Pia said she would be back before going back to their room. He kept running until they saw a large American suburban house in the forest. Knocking on the door, the door swung open as Mabel pointed a shotgun at her. Before looking at Pia, lowering her gun, "Oh, sorry about that, kid, or should I say my queen." Pia smiled, handing the knife to her. "Here is your knife back; sorry it took over a month." Mabel took the knife, looking at her hair. "Your hair looks better." Pia felt like throwing her hair. It was now more balanced with white and brown hair. "Yeah, I found a better solution. See you later," Mabel smiled. "See you later, kid." A couple of days later, Nolen and other mages gathered as James, Pia, Jeff, and Mason sat in a circle surrounded by green dust in the middle of a vast field they sat in together, surrounding it. As they all held hands, the cloud went dark grey with the sky following; lightning cracked, thunder roared, and rain poured, and the wind picked up. Together, Nolen looked at them as all of their eyes glowed green; he said: "Safe travel, my friends." James replied, "Your grandma would be proud." Nolen looked at him, surprised, and then smiled. Nolen looked towards Pia. "Don't forget the bag," smiling before time and space moved around them until everything went black.
They looked at each other as a figure over them; it was larger than any plant or any celestial body in the universe. They saw their dark blue ocean deep eyes and their black cloak that contained stolen stars to help illuminate their body. Their golden hair was long and floating like a sea of gases. Their fingers pointed at them, their voice booming, "Chosen mortals." Time and space moved again before they looked around, feeling the warm sun. Then, hearing the honking of car horns, dogs barking, and people chatting. They were in a park, seeing people looking back at them. Mason's eyes grew wide, tears in his eyes guiding them through the street, their overlong hair flowing in the air. Jeff looked at their long, chipped nails, plucking his ears from the noise. James, Jeff, and Mason all had bits and pieces of facial hair. Mason had a full mustache, along with James. They walked through the streets. Jeff's eyes went wide seeing someone on their phone. He watched the phone in awe before Pia pulled him away. He looked around, and Pia was also. James was trying to keep up with Mason, who kept turning to every street. Jeff said, "These people have tiny devices in their hands." James said, "They have phones." Jeff looked more intrigued. Pia interrupted him, "This tech looked old." People were watching a news story about an older couple. Jeff said, "Hello, Ms and Mr can-uh." The women smiled as they both saw the president of this universe. James turned to Mason, saying, "Is your president a normal orange?" Pia added, "Tan." Mason stopped looking around, exhaustedly groaning, meeting up with the rest of the group. The couple looked at each other, concerned. "Do you kids need help?" Mason took over, saying to the group, "My name is Mason Jay Jones. Do you know their names, Ziva and Dallas Jay Jones?" The man looked surprised when someone came up to an older black man with thinning hair, gray streaking, and a wrinkled face. He was surprised by "Mr Jones." Mason smiled briefly, saying, "Dr West, can you bring me home?" He replied, "Of course, come with me." They got in the car they were driving through the streets. Jeff was enjoying himself, Pia whispering to James, who was beside him. "What do we do once we see his parents?" They looked to the front seat, seeing Mason and Dr West were talking. James said, "Let's figure that part out later." They were dropped off in front of a medium-sized two-story house. Everyone was in shock. Mason's eyes were watering, and Dr West was saying, "Tell your parents hey since I am back from my vacation for the last few months." They waved as he left, and they walked to the door. Mason stopped, thinking to himself, "They don't want me to see me." His thoughts turned in his head. Jeff grabbed his hand. Squeezing Mason's hand, saying, "They would love to see you."
Mason knocked on the door as they waited; all of them were sweating. People were talking through the door before a woman said: "Wait, I'll be there." As the woman answered, it was curly light brown hair tied into a bun, a woman with dark green eyes. Her face surprised Mason, smiled, "Hey, Mom, I am back." She cried, hugging Mason. Seeing an older man with brown hair, brown skin, dark blue eyes, light brown freckles, and a smile as white as pure snow. He spoke in a hushed voice, "Oh my gosh!" James' eyes flickered awake as he looked around his friend, not too far from him. They entered the house.
