Subsequently, realizing that March 7th and Himeko still lacked proper weapons, Su Mu couldn't help but frown. It seemed the most urgent task at hand was to find a way to earn more gold coins.
"If you two don't have weapons, can you handle the monsters outside?" Su Mu walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze sweeping over the various grotesque silhouettes darting through the architectural ruins as he asked.
At that moment, March 7th was hunched over the computer playing a game. Hearing his voice, she didn't even look up, simply waving a hand dismissively.
"It's no problem at all! Those monsters outside, besides being ugly, their strength is just so-so—they aren't that strong!" As she spoke, she casually picked up her camera and shook it, displaying the monster photos she had taken earlier.
Himeko was standing before the mirror, arranging her long hair. Upon hearing the inquiry, she walked slowly to the window. While smoothing her silken locks with a comb, she spoke calmly, "Yes. Even without weapons, we can use our own talents and skills. For us, a weapon is merely a medium to assist our attacks."
"In that case, go out and hunt!" Su Mu made an immediate decision. "It's a good way to earn more gold."
"Heck yeah!" March 7th instantly paused her game and leaped from her chair, stretching her limbs. "Himeko-jie, let's go!"
"Mm." Himeko set down her comb and gave a soft affirmative.
In the next second, both of their figures vanished from the living room into thin air.
Seeing this, Su Mu immediately utilized his Manager permissions to check their status. He soon discovered that March 7th and Himeko had already appeared in the first-floor corridor of the apartment.
"They can move directly to the first floor? Isn't that a permission only I, the Manager, should have...?" Su Mu was stunned for a moment before realizing. "Right, the clones are essentially 'me' at the core. It makes sense they can use Manager permissions. In that case..."
His gaze landed on the [Otherworld Exploration] option on the apartment's function panel, and a thought suddenly occurred to him.
Perhaps I can let a clone explore the otherworld?
Just then, a notification popped up before Su Mu's eyes.
[Killed F-rank Mysterious Being [Goblin]. Obtained 5,925 Hunting EXP and 262 Gold Coins.]
[Detected: No tenants or employees participated in this hunt. Apartment Manager Su Mu receives all Hunting EXP and Gold Coins.]
Immediately after, the kill notifications began to refresh rapidly, mostly reporting the slaughter of Goblins.
Although the experience and gold dropped by a single Goblin weren't much, the sheer quantity made up for it. In just ten minutes, Su Mu's gold balance broke ten thousand again, rising to 10,436, and his level climbed to Lv. 28.
Through the sensory connection with his clones, Su Mu learned that the Goblins in the immediate vicinity had been cleared. Those remaining were agile, flying monster-birds that were difficult to kill. Thus, he sent a mental command for the two to return.
Before long, March 7th and Himeko reappeared in the living room.
March 7th dove back in front of the computer to resume her game, while Himeko began tidying up the clutter in the living room. She moved efficiently, and in no time, she had several bags of trash organized.
"I'm going to take the trash out," Himeko said, picking up the bags and looking at Su Mu. "As for the Otherworld Exploration, let March 7th try it first. She should enjoy that kind of novelty."
With that, Himeko used her permissions and vanished instantly, heading to the first floor to dispose of the trash far away from the building.
"Otherworld?" Hearing this, March 7th paused her game once more. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Su Mu and leaned in close. "Main Body, can I go now? It sounds so interesting!"
"Yeah, give it a try." Su Mu nodded.
"Yay!" March 7th cheered excitedly. She immediately pulled up the apartment panel, found the [Otherworld Exploration] option, and clicked it. "Otherworld, here I, March 7th, come~!"
A sudden light erupted, enveloping March 7th's figure. The next second, the light dissipated, and she was gone from the living room.
The blinding light snapped away, and March 7th instinctively squinted. She felt the airflow around her pause for a heartbeat, and in the next moment, a chilly night wind carrying the scent of grass and wood buffeted her face.
At the same time, the previous brilliance faded completely, and the surroundings plunged into deep twilight.
"Wow—so this is the otherworld?" March 7th blinked, curiously turning her head to take in her surroundings.
Towering ancient trees rose from the ground, their thick trunks requiring several people to encircle them. Dense branches and leaves intertwined to form a thick canopy, leaving only scattered cracks through which the sky was visible.
A massive full moon hung in the sky, its silver radiance spilling through the forest like water, coating the dark woods in a layer of hazy, cold light.
"It's a total forest scene, and it's already night. I wonder what the 'art style' of this otherworld is? Is it sword and sorcery, or does it have some other weird setting?" March 7th muttered to herself as she surveyed the area.
Rustle— rustle—
The faint sound of friction came from a patch of grass not far ahead. It was accompanied by the crisp sound of leaves being crushed, echoing clearly in the silent forest.
"No way, no way... An enemy right after landing?" March 7th's nerves tightened instantly. She instinctively took a half-step back, her tone carrying a hint of mock surprise but little genuine panic.
She looked toward the swaying grass. As soon as her vision locked onto the target, a massive figure strolled slowly out of the brush. Its heavy hooves hit the ground with muffled thuds, vibrating the fallen leaves beneath its feet.
It was an impossibly large wild boar—but using "stroll" to describe its movement was indeed accurate, because this boar was walking steadily on its two hind legs.
Its height of nearly three meters made it look like a mobile small mountain, its massive frame filling the gaps between the trees. Its head was even larger than a standard millstone, with two curved, sharp tusks protruding abruptly from its mouth, glinting with a cold metallic luster. Thick saliva dripped from the tips of the tusks, hitting the leaves with a drip-drop sound. It looked hideous and terrifying.
Its eyes were a piercing crimson, like blood-soaked gemstones. Its gaze locked onto March 7th, radiating a savage aura so thick it almost felt physical. Just being stared at like that would be enough to make an ordinary person tremble.
Even more bizarre were its limbs. Its hind legs were as thick as iron pillars, steadily supporting its massive body. But where its front legs should have been, there were four muscular, knotty arms. Every arm was covered in coarse black hair, ending in sharp, jagged claws.
As it shifted its body slightly, the muscles on its arms rippled, exuding a suffocating sense of power.
"This guy... why does he look a little familiar?" March 7th frowned, her delicate nose scrunching up as her not-so-bright brain began to work at high speed.
