Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

When the bright light obscuring his vision faded, Rin found himself floating in a white space that stretched infinitely. This was normal, as stated in the online forums. This was the spirit plane where ones character was created.

A blue holographic screen popped up Infront of him prompting him to choose his in-game name.

" Rin "

Rin always used his real name in any game he played and twilight was no different.

Immediately after picking a name, a blue light from the holographic screen scanned his whole body.

In Twilight, unlike the other games, your in game character was just a replica of yourself. Some changes were allowed like the color of your eyes, how long your hair was and most surprisingly your gender could also be changed.

But in terms of changing gender, your in game character was just a female version of yourself.

Rin increased the length of his hair to match those cultivation characters in eastern cultivation novels. And also picked a dark blue hanfu with a white collar as his starting attire.

He really was getting into character.

Suddenly the space in the spirit realm started closing in on itself at an extremely fast rate and in the blink of an eye Rin was ejected from the space.

This time his vision blacked out and in the next instant he was standing a few hundred meters away from what seemed to be a colossal wall.

All that surrounded him was the sand from the desert and sometimes huge boulders protruding from the ground. The only landmark visible to him was the colossal wall in the distance.

Rin started making his way towards the the wall.

In Twilight humans were the weaker beings and had to rely on these colossal citadels in order to survive the harsh natural selection process.

Anything could be a calamity level threat for weaker beings; from the monsters that roamed the desert to even something silly like the sun, albeit under certain conditions.

As Rin was getting closer and closer to the citadel, he took this time to check his profile.

The same blue holographic screen he saw a while back popped up infront of him.

Name: Rin

Race: Human

Exp: 0/100

Level: 1

Title: None

Class: None

Hit points(Hp): 100 ATK: 5 DEF: 3 AGI: 4 STAMINA: 10

Mana: None

This was his complete profile, pretty blund but quite acceptable since he had just started the game. His stats were also quite good compared to other beginners at level one, especially his stamina.

Most newbies got an avarage of 1-3 stats in every sector but his were higher. Maybe it was a side effect of him training his body constantly in the real world.

Twilight was a story that revolved around the aftermath of the great war between Gods and Demons that took place hundreds of years back.

This world served as a battleground for those higher beings and as a consequence caused a foreign energy called mana to invade the world. This energy, Mana, caused lifeforms all around the world to evolve.

Even the plants weren't left out. Ordinary trees turned into calamity level threats to humans, who at that time had not yet adapted.

As the war come to an end, the world was in turmoil trying to adjust itself. The land turned into deserts that refused to support life again. While the forests that remain became a place off limits to humans because of how dangerous it had become.

Convectional methods of fighting had little effect and humanity was facing a crisis so great that it could lead to their extinction.

Just as humanity had lost all hope, some humans came out. They had awakened supernatural powers due to prolonged exposure to mana. They banded together and fought for humanity. Even though thier powers weren't overwhelming, they did ease the pressure that humanity faced gave humans some time to properly respond to their sutuation.

After two months of struggle humanity managed to build several citadels which were surrounded by thick colossal walls that were several hundreds of meters high.

There were seven of this citadels around the world and many more smaller citadels that sheltered humanity.

At last humanity was saved and had time to build up it's strength. The war had ended with no clear outcome on who became the victor since both parties retreated. And just like that several hundreds of tears had passed in the blink of an eye.

Rin who had arrived infont if the citadel walls realized how gigantic the walls were. They stood at atleast 500 meters high, and what was even more shocking was that according to the online forums this was not even a main citadel among the founding seven.

How colossal were the main citadels then ?

 >You have discovered Blackmoor citadel <

"Show me your permit" one of the guard stationed at the gate said coolly.

' permit? ' Rin thought, noone at the forum had mentioned anything about having a permit in order to enter a citadel.

Rin looked at the guard, confused. At the same time his basic information popped up.

Name: ??

Level:??

Almost immediately the guard raised their weapons pointing them at Rin, when they realized that he didn't have a permit.

At Blackmoor citadel only adventurers had the freedom of moving in and out of the citadel freely. Any other person required a permit that was issued at the gate to enter or leave the citadel.

And considering how weak and feeble the person Infront of them looked, they doubted that he was an adventurer.

The only other explanation was that he was a powerful monster that had taken human form planning to wreck havoc inside the city.

Rin was shocked by the sudden hostility but didn't resist when he was arrested.

Rin soon realized that he was the only one wearing a different attire that would seem wierd to the locals. He also noticed that their were no other players around.

It was relatively easy to Identify a player just by the way they dressed but some players would prefer to dress as locals in order to blend in.

Rin was transferred to a small dimly lit room that had two chairs and a table in between.

'It looks like they want to interrogate me' Rin thought. But five minutes had passed and no one had come to the room so he decided to log off.

He had already created his character and was already in a citadel so there was nothing in particular he wanted to do until summer break started.

The officer from earlier was watching Rin from the one way glass window, when suddenly Rin disappeared.

He was startled, feeling that his hunch about Rin being a monster in disguise was actually true.

Just as he was about to investigate, he suddenly stopped as if he was in a daze then went back toan the gate as if nothing had happened.

Rin didn't log in the game for the rest of the week, and apart from James starting to bother him more at School nothing much happened.

In the blink of an eye, the week had ended and summer break was just about to begin.

" Boss, did you already create your account? Tell me your user name so that I can add you to my friends list" James started behind him as he walked out of the school gate. "I told you, don't call me that" Rin reprimanded but at this point he knew that James would assume him like he didn't hear a word he said.

" Rin, it's Rin " Rin said as he started walking in the opposite direction where his house was located.
