He abruptly sat up on the bed while breathing heavily. Sweat covered his entire body once again. His chest rose and fell violently as tears continuously streamed down his face.
Damon instantly sat beside him and grabbed his face carefully with both hands.
"Fuck. Are you alright?" he asked immediately while forcing Jacob to look at him.
Jacob's trembling eyes slowly focused on Damon's face. For a few seconds, he looked completely lost. As if he still could not separate reality from his nightmare.
"Damon..." he whispered weakly.
"I'm here," Damon answered quickly. "Look at me."
Jacob's lips trembled badly. Then finally, he spoke. "I-I'm scared."
Those two words immediately made something heavy settle inside Damon's chest. Because Jacob rarely admitted fear. No matter how much pain he received from Damon before, Jacob always endured everything silently.
But now...
He looked completely terrified. And before Damon could even ask another question, Jacob's body suddenly went limp.
