Chapter 245 - Chapter 245: Request (EC)

After receiving Shyvana's affirmative answer, Caleb left her in the laboratory.

Super Galaxy mecha, the strongest mecha they could currently build. To Caleb, this kind of heavy weapon was almost no weaker than an Aspect in combat power.

But mecha still had one advantage over Aspects, they had switches.

If Shyvana later proved that Caleb's judgment had been wrong, it would only be a matter of pressing a button.

Caleb had already set up contingencies, including for the Mecha Malphite and Mecha Kha'Zix suits.

But since they had performed well, Caleb was naturally willing to give them more chances.

The trade route to Ixtal in the south had already begun commerce with the twin cities.

If anyone saw a few people dressed in noble luxury, yet wearing expressions like country folk entering the big city, there was no need to think about it. They were basically from Ixtal.

However, Caleb had issued a strict order. No one was allowed to treat them like suckers and rip them off.

Zaun did not have much of an opinion about that, but Piltover's merchants had plenty of complaints.

Caleb did not care about them at all. The Firelights had already been sent out, especially those kids who had grown up in Zaun. Every last one of them knew how to bargain better than the next.

They had a problem with it? They could go find Ekko, or Caleb himself.

Caleb would be more than happy to spend a little time teaching those merchants what respect meant.

Still, this situation would not last very long. After all, Ixtal's merchants would eventually learn.

If they did not?

Then Caleb could start considering a plan to make Zaun's territory more than ten times larger.

After all, an empress or whatever was nothing before a council.

By then, even Clan Ferros would not amount to much.

But this kind of thing was fine to think about in dreams. Caleb could tell with his toes that this brainless power-fantasy plot was not going to happen.

Caleb was still a little worried. Aside from Renata, he truly had not found a single candidate for his council seats.

But there was still one person. Caleb thought for a moment...

If there really was no other choice, there was still Silco in prison?

No, no, that would not work. If he came out, those Chem-Barons Caleb had sent in might break out of prison one after another.

Silco lying in prison reading the newspaper was the best kind of Silco.

...

"Me?"

Warwick pointed one sharp claw at himself, somewhat confused.

His past identity was no real secret before the Governor, and Warwick knew that.

"We really are short on candidates. And you happen to be free now. Just hand over pollution control in the Entresol to Zac and the others."

As the former leader of Zaun's Lanes, there was no doubt that Vander could not only fight, but also think clearly.

"Renata always likes to tinker with new things, but someone still needs to help keep her in check."

Caleb continued.

"All right..."

Warwick agreed.

"But, Governor, can you help me with something?"

"Go ahead."

Caleb was somewhat curious. Warwick, with his PROJECT mecha, could be considered one of Zaun's front-line fighters beneath only Janna.

What would he need Caleb's help with?

"That kid Vi, after learning who I used to be, she's been avoiding me. Can you let me say a few words to her?"

"She hasn't come looking for you?"

Caleb was somewhat surprised. He had not expected Vi, who had come out of prison with him, to be hiding now.

Finding her was not difficult. It would not even be difficult for Jinx.

After all, one set of PROJECT mecha had been prepared specifically for Vi.

Jinx simply did not want to give it to her, not because she could not find her.

Those enormous gauntlets also had room for improvement.

After all, their original design purpose had been mining, not combat.

Although as combat tools, they were already ridiculously overpowered.

"I'll handle this. Before I go to Ionia, I'll help the two of you meet."

Caleb considered the two of them former prison friends, so this small matter naturally was not a problem.

"Then I definitely won't let you down, Governor!"

"Don't all of you start talking like that..."

Although Caleb complained, he was still somewhat happy inside.

Of course, it would be even better if they called him by his real name.

Caleb's thoughts did not drift too far, because a cat riding on a magical book soon came looking for him.

"When are we going to Ionia?"

Yuumi waved her paws. She still wanted to see what the highest places in Ionia's spirit realm looked like.

"After I finish this busy stretch. There are a ton of things going on in the city. Go bother Heimerdinger and ask him to let you into a mecha cockpit for a look."

Caleb rubbed Yuumi's head twice, then continued studying the final candidate.

Warwick and Renata, one seasoned and one young, could complement each other.

As for the last one...

Caleb could not think of anyone immediately, but it was not that important.

Worst case, he could announce that the seat was his and casually find someone to temporarily act in his place.

Still, it would be better to find someone.

"Me?"

Zeri pointed at herself, her big, sparkling eyes full of disbelief.

"You're just going to hold a slot. After all, Zaun needs three people on this side. Just follow Renata and Warwick's lead."

"Really?"

Unlike Ekko, Zeri had plenty of free time.

So when she heard about such a good thing, her eyes could not help lighting up.

This was a chance to stand at the peak of power, to truly decide the city's future path.

"You said it!"

Zeri's words carried excitement she could not hide.

"Mm-hmm."

Caleb's original intention had only been to pull someone in to make up the three-person count.

But it was indeed quite good. After all, Zeri came from the true bottom of the Undercity.

She was different from Renata, who, although she had not recovered a lot of money, still had plenty of it.

And she was also different from Vander, who was extremely capable in a fight and had made his fortune with a pair of cast-iron gauntlets.

Zeri would not stand so high, but she would truly be able to see what the people whose lives still were not that good actually needed.

"I need to tell my mother and the neighbors this news."

"See you, Governor!"

Zeri had already stepped along the wall and left, waving at Caleb from far away.

In Zaun, rebuilding a council hall was not exactly a secret anymore.

Of course, what many people were curious about was which people would make up the new council.

"I bet Governor Caleb is definitely one of them!"

"You're betting on something that obvious? What the hell is the point?"

Caleb's hearing had also improved greatly. Hearing the people's whispers, a faint smile appeared on his face.

"Where's Vi?"

Caleb went to the Firelights' headquarters, that great tree.

When it came to hiding, the only people who could help her, aside from Caitlyn from topside, were probably little Ekko, who had often been with her when they were young.

"Did Warwick tell you?"

Ekko also looked worried. Vi really was with him. She had been living in seclusion, and whenever she went out, she completely ignored anyone who called out to her.

By now, even all of Zaun's opinion of her was not very good.

"He really is..."

Before Ekko could finish speaking, Caleb nodded.

"Yes. He really is Vander."
