Luna's POV
I stood there, completely still, as if time itself had frozen around me.
Khalil's words echoed in my mind over and over again.
"Your services are no longer needed."
It didn't feel real. It felt like a cruel dream—one I kept waiting to wake up from.
But no matter how hard I blinked, no matter how tightly I clenched my fists, reality refused to change.
He had fired me.
Just like that.
No explanation. No hesitation.
I watched him walk past me without even a second glance, as if I were nothing more than a stranger… as if everything I had given to that hospital meant absolutely nothing.
My chest tightened, but I refused to cry. Not there. Not in front of him.
I turned and walked to my office, each step heavier than the last. The moment I closed the door behind me, the silence hit differently. It wasn't peaceful—it was painful.
I slowly began packing my things, my hands trembling slightly.
My gaze fell on the desk.
Memories flooded in.
Dr. Shiva Aurora.
She had stood right there, smiling warmly, telling me I had earned this office. She had helped me choose the curtains, the furniture, even the smallest decorations. She didn't just welcome me—she believed in me.
And now…
It was all over.
I paused, running my fingers across the table, remembering my very first day. The nervous excitement. The supportive smiles from the staff. The way that hospital slowly became more than just a workplace—it became home.
A family.
As I walked through the hallways one last time, every ward held a memory. Every corner whispered a story I wasn't ready to let go of.
I knew this wasn't the end of my career.
I knew I still had a long journey ahead.
But leaving this place… leaving them… it hurt more than I expected.
I stopped at the entrance and turned back one last time.
Then I walked away.
After losing my parents, I had nothing.
But Grandma Ayesha… she gave me everything.
She was a healer, strong and wise, and she taught me that healing wasn't just about medicine—it was about heart.
She inspired me to become who I am today.
But even she was taken from me two years ago.
Now, th
e only family I have left…
Is Irina, Kayla, and Jake.
They're siblings, completely chaotic, sometimes annoying—but they're mine. And honestly, I don't know what I'd do without them.
Lately, though, I haven't been myself.
Since getting fired, I've done nothing but stay home—watching movies, overthinking… and occasionally irritating Jake.
Actually, scratch that.
I really enjoy irritating Jake.
It's one of my favorite hobbies.
I was curled up on the couch, watching Sidelined: The QB and Me, completely lost in the story, when suddenly—
BANG
!
The door flew open.
"I HOPE THERE'S FOOD IN HERE!" Jake shouted dramatically as he burst inside.
I jumped up in shock.
"Oh really?" I shot back, walking toward the door. "You might as well cook for yourself, lazy man."
Then I froze.
"Jake! The door wasn't even locked!"
"I know," he said casually, already chewing something. "I just wanted to make a grand entrance."
I stared at him.
Unbelievable.
"Jake, that's not your foo—"
Before I could finish, the door opened again.
Kayla and Irina walked in.
Kayla's eyes immediately landed on Jake… and then on her lunchbox in his hands.
Her expression changed instantly.
Slowly… dangerously.
"Jake…"
Uh oh.
She didn't even finish her sentence before screaming his name and chasing him across the house.
And just like that—
Chaos.
Pure chaos.
They ran around like children, arguing and laughing like a real-life Tom and Jerry.
I sighed and sat back down.
Irina joined me, grabbing a blanket.
We continued watching the movie like nothing was happening.
"Luna," she nudged me, smirking. "You watch a lot of romantic movies. I wonder if you'll ever find true love."
I scoffed.
"Oh please, coming from someone who has never even kissed a guy."
She gasped dramatically.
"You know what, Irina? Your whole body is a virgin—except your hands, because at least you've greeted men with those."
For a second, she just stared at me.
Then—
She burst out laughing.
Loud. Uncontrollable laughter.
Soon, I joined in.
We spent the rest of the day talking, gossiping, and reminiscing about our childhood. About my mother… about Grandma Ayesha…
At some point, the laughter faded into silence.
And tears.
But not the painful kind.
The healing kind.
Kayla and Jake eventually returned and joined us.
I looked at all of them, my heart full.
"I'm so lucky to have you guys," I said softly. "I love you all so much."
They didn't say anything.
They just pulled me into a group hug.
And in that moment…
I felt okay.
Khalil's POV
Back at the mansion, chaos reigned.
Glass shattered.
Furniture broke.
Servants stood frozen in fear as Khalil destroyed everything in his path.
His chest rose and fell with rage.
"What the hell did she mean…" he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "She said I can't marry her?!"
Celine stood across from him, equally furious.
"Why don't you go back and ask her?" KJ snapped coldly.
"How dare you speak to me like that?" Celine shouted. "I am your fiancée! We love each other—that's all that matters! We will get married!"
Khalil's eyes darkened
.
"You can say that," he said sharply, "because your family isn't the one that's going to die one by one."
Silence fell.
"But KJ—"
"No," he cut her off. "No 'buts.' I already lost my parents. I'm not losing anyone else."
Celine's expression twisted in disbelief.
"So you're telling me…" she said slowly, her voice dripping with disdain, "that you're going to marry that feeble human? A weakling? Someone who can't even defend herself?"
Khalil didn't hesitate.
"If it means my loved ones are safe… then yes."
"KJ!!!" she screamed.
"It's Alpha Khalil," he roared, his alpha tone shaking the entire room.
Everyone flinched.
Celine froze.
Without another word, she turned and stormed out.
Moments later, Meredith approached, gently patting his back, trying to calm him.
Xander joined them, his expression serious.
But Khalil wasn't listening.
Because deep down…
His mind was somewhere else.
The Truth (Foreshadowing)
Khalil knows.
He knows exactly who Luna is.
He recognized her the moment he saw her.
The same eyes.
The same presence.
The same girl from twenty years ago.
But Luna…
Luna doesn't remember.
To her, Khalil is just a cold, heartless man who ruined her life.
She doesn't see the boy he once was.
The boy who knew her.
The boy who never forgot her.
And now…
Fate has brought them together again.
But this time—
They stand on opposite sides.
