Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: The Scarlet Witch — Youth Edition

Wanda's beautiful eyes were filled with anticipation. That string of vows just now had truly left her feeling both bashful and frightened.

"Mr. Ferguson, can you teach me magic now?"

Seeing her eager look, Harvey said in a relaxed and cheerful manner, "Of course!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he channeled his magic into the Mind Scepter.

In an instant.

A bright beam of yellow energy erupted from the tip of the scepter, shooting straight toward Wanda.

Seeing Harvey suddenly turn hostile and attack her, a trace of confusion flickered in Wanda's eyes.

But soon enough.

When the Mind energy made contact with Wanda's body, she absorbed all of the energy without a single trace leaking out.

"Mnn... ngh..."

Accompanied by a series of ambiguous moans.

Wanda's entire body was enveloped by a massive cloud of pure, scarlet energy mist.

And the red glow between her hands grew increasingly intense.

Until—

A sort of invisible energy shockwave burst outward with a boom.

Scattering the cluster of red mist shrouding Wanda along with it.

"Did it work?"

Wanda looked in amazement at her hands, which were glowing with red light, and tried waving them forward.

A sphere of scarlet energy suddenly shot out.

"Boom!"

It forcefully blasted a large hole right through the wall of the villa's first-floor living room.

"Ah! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."

Seeing the astonishing destructive power she had caused, Wanda's pretty face was filled with embarrassment.

"Reparo!"

Harvey flicked his wand and cast a spell.

The wall bricks that had collapsed onto the floor flew back into the hole on their own, neatly stacking and patching the opening in just a few short seconds.

Until even the wall plaster and the embossed mahogany paneling were restored to their complete, original appearance.

Only then did Harvey speak up to remind her, "Be more careful next time. You can go to the spacious boxing ring in the gym to slowly familiarize yourself with your powers."

Watching the damaged wall revert to its pristine condition as if time had flowed backward.

Wanda's eyes were full of envy. Hearing Harvey's reminder, she hurriedly nodded and promised not to do it again.

Harvey looked up at the wall clock.

"It's 3:00 PM right now. You can pick any guest room you like to sleep in tonight."

"As for clothes and other daily necessities, you can go out and buy them yourself, or just use what's already in the villa for now."

"I have to go out for a bit later. Oh, by the way, you know how to cook, right?"

Wanda nodded her head vigorously like a pestle pounding garlic. "As long as there are ingredients, I can make some simple meals."

"Excellent." Harvey was highly satisfied.

Wanda was quite low-maintenance, unlike Hermione, who was always expecting to be spoon-fed.

However, this was also due to the need for secrecy; he hadn't hired any maids, butlers, or other servants.

Otherwise, such trivial daily chores wouldn't be this troublesome at all.

But with magic, a few household chores were nothing to Harvey anyway.

Opening a portal leading to the Harry Potter world.

Before leaving, Harvey warned her, "Remember, no matter what you hear, you are absolutely not allowed to enter the basement!"

"That is my private laboratory. It holds many precious potion ingredients and flora/fauna samples. Do you understand?"

Wanda nodded once again, looking the picture of a virtuous wife seeing her husband off on a long journey.

"Roughly what time will you be coming back tonight? I'll make dinner and wait for you."

"Thanks, but I don't want my stomach to suffer, so I'll handle my own dinner problem."

After cracking a small joke, Harvey didn't hesitate anymore, turning around and stepping into the portal.

Returning to the Harry Potter world.

Hogwarts, the top-floor dormitory room in Ravenclaw Tower.

Harvey first checked to see if any owls had left letters on his windowsill.

"One letter, two letters... over twenty letters."

"Looks like there's another pile of troublesome matters to deal with."

Sighing, Harvey began to check the letters one by one.

The first few letters were all sent by Harry Potter.

It seemed the struggle between the "Dumbledore's Army" formed by Harry, Ron, and Hermione against the Death Eaters was reaching a fever pitch.

Harry Potter narrated in his letter:

"Dear Harvey Ferguson,"

"My most trusted best friend, how have you been lately? Right now, the tide of our war with the Death Eaters is looking great..."

"If we could have Miss Granger join us, it would be even better..."

"Recently, we found a suspicious location that might house a Horcrux, and we urgently need the well-read Miss Know-It-All to help us break any Dark Magic curses that might appear..."

Harvey didn't even want to read the rest. He just tossed all the letters from Harry Potter straight into the trash can.

He'd leave this kind of troublesome mess for the destined Savior to get headaches over.

However, he still wrote one reply letter.

After all, Harry was his big sugar daddy funding him; he had to show some respect.

This would also make it easier to squeeze more Galleons out of him next time...

Harvey cast a Levitation Charm, controlling a quill to write on a blank piece of parchment.

In this reply letter.

Harvey briefly explained that he and Hermione were currently busy researching the resurrection spell these past few days and temporarily had no time to help.

Following that, he wrote a huge paragraph filled with words of praise and flattery.

Expressing that with Harry Potter's brilliant intellect, he would definitely be able to overcome all difficulties and single-handedly destroy Voldemort's evil rebirth plan!

Putting the finished reply into a rosewood tube, he figured he would drop by the Owlery later to send the letter out.

After that, Harvey continued to open the remaining dozen or so letters.

Most of these letters were sent by Luna, Cho Chang, and his junior, Ginny.

Ginny's letters were all about amusing daily anecdotes at school.

In Cho Chang's letters, besides talking about her daily life, she also asked if she could apply to join Harry Potter's "Dumbledore's Army".

As for Luna's letters, they were filled with her usual eccentric ramblings.

Things like: Recently, all the shoes in my shoe cabinet have mysteriously vanished. I suspect it's the work of Nargles...

Acting as an attentive and caring gentleman, Harvey began racking his brains to write three completely different reply letters.

The reason they couldn't be exactly the same...

Was obviously because Harvey had previously pulled the stunt of sending identical love letters to several girls.

Then, Ginny, who loved to share, took out the love letter to show off, and as a result, Hermione and the others discovered the truth.

At that time, Harvey was confronted at his door by three furiously resentful girls holding the love letters.

The scene was so mortifyingly awkward that he didn't even want to recall it.

So now, Harvey didn't dare use the god-tier skill of "copy and paste" ever again.

Right now, the quill danced swiftly across the parchment like dragons and snakes.

He wrote one letter showing concern for Ginny's study progress, and another expressing that he would pass Cho Chang's application request to Harry Potter.

As for the reply to Luna, it was the most special.

Because Harvey used "Luna-speak" as well!

The contents of the letter roughly went:

"To my dearest Luna:"

"In this complex world, we often find that the things we inadvertently lose seem to always, in some unheeded moment,"

"Quietly return to us in an unexpected form..."

After finishing the replies to the three girls, Harvey looked at the last unopened letter.

First, he glanced at the sender's name.

"Hm? Albus Dumbledore? Damn it, when this old man suddenly writes a letter, it definitely means nothing good is about to happen!"

Harvey didn't even bother to read it, directly tossing the last letter into the trash can.

But suddenly, a familiar, kindly voice came from behind him.
