Inside the Kamui dimension, the air crackled with tension.
"Ugh—Kakashi!!!"
"Yaha—Obito!!!"
This wasn't a love confession, but the final cries of Kakashi and Obito as they unleashed their attacks in the heat of battle.
Clang!
Obito, caught off guard, fell. His scythe flew into the air.
Kakashi, cloaked in a Nine-Tails Chakra Cloak, his right hand crackling with the Lightning Blade, stopped before him.
Clearly, without the power of Tailed Beast Mode, Obito was no match for Kakashi.
"Hehehe..." Despite his injury, Obito showed no fear, instead laughing mockingly. "Kakashi, you said before that I wouldn't dare to kill, but aren't you hesitating now, too?"
Hearing this, Kakashi nodded.
"I didn't dare to kill you. But I didn't hesitate because I never intended to kill you. I wanted you to turn back. Everything is back to normal now. Rin has regained her life. You don't need to continue hating this world."
"For me and Rin, seek forgiveness. Atone for the crimes you committed."
"Hahaha... for you?" Obito threw his head back and laughed as if he'd heard the biggest joke in the world. "Kakashi, it's been so long, and you've actually learned to tell jokes."
"Obito, don't be so stubborn..."
"Shut up!" Obito's expression changed, sharply interrupting Kakashi. "Who do you think is responsible for all of this? Isn't it because of you!"
"Because of me?" Kakashi frowned, his mind racing.
"That's right." Obito glared at Kakashi. Having witnessed Rin stealing a kiss from him, his long-suppressed jealousy and resentment erupted. "If you hadn't broken your promise to me, hadn't failed to protect Rin, would any of this have happened? So, why did you survive alone after breaking your promise?"
Survived alone...
Kakashi's body trembled as the words echoed in his mind. His pupils quivered. Obito's words mirrored his own past thoughts. Back then, his father, his teacher, his friends—almost everyone close to him was dead!
He wondered why he was the only one who survived. Why he hadn't died!
Looking at the sorrow and despair in Kakashi's lifeless eyes, Obito's heart skipped a beat, and his mocking expression hardened.
"Don't think I'll suddenly realize my mistake. If you're planning to abandon Rin again, then keep refusing to act until I recover my chakra and finish you off!"
"Obito... I understand." Kakashi's expression turned serious. "I finally understand what you're fussing about. What you saw before was just a misunderstanding. Rin was only acting on Menma's orders; it wasn't what you thought!"
Obito's expression froze. A slight smile appeared on his lips, only to be quickly suppressed and replaced by rage.
"I don't need your pity, your humility, or your explanations! Do you think I did all this simply because of Rin, or because of you?"
Thud!
Obito, having gathered his strength, suddenly stood up, allowing Kakashi to pierce right through his heart.
Kakashi was stunned, not expecting Obito to run into him like that—just as he had done with Rin! He tried to pull his hand away, but Obito grabbed it.
"Do you know? To me, you, Rin, Minato-sensei—you're all imposters! The real Kakashi would keep his promise to protect Rin, and the real Rin wouldn't die at the hands of her comrades! The real Minato-sensei would save everyone in times of crisis!"
"Therefore, I feel disgust for the village, the ninjas, and even the entire ninja system! I hate this false and hopeless world!"
With that, Obito released Kakashi's arm as he retracted it. Kakashi, caught off guard, stumbled back.
But he immediately stepped forward again, his Lightning Blade vanishing and transforming into an outstretched hand.
"Obito, all of this will change soon. Menma can change this world. He can change all of this! And Rin is alive, you are alive, and I am alive. We are not fake; we all hold each other in our hearts!"
Slap!
Obito slapped Kakashi's hand away, then placed his hands in front of the gaping hole in his chest.
"Look closely! There's nothing in my heart. No pain, no emotion, only an emptiness! An emptiness torn open by this hellish world!"
With that, Obito suddenly took a step back, his right eye's Kamui causing spatial ripples.
"Kakashi, I'd rather believe in myself than in that tyrannical guy you speak of. But I still want to thank you for breaking free from what bound me. Just wait, I will bring eternal happiness to this world... uh!"
Obito's retreat, and the ripples in space, stopped abruptly.
Menma appeared behind Obito, grabbing the back of his neck!
At the same time, Menma's impatient, cold voice rang out. "Kakashi, I sent you to deal with Obito, not to participate in a lovers' spat."
"How could this be?" Obito, his neck gripped, glanced in disbelief at Menma behind him. "How could you possibly get into the Kamui dimension? This is impossible!"
"Obito!" Kakashi was also taken aback. He quickly stepped forward to explain. "Menma, I'm about to convince Obito! He'll do what you say!"
As he spoke, Kakashi urgently winked at Obito. "Didn't you just say you wanted to join the Four-Star Village?"
"I... I..." Feeling his neck tighten, Obito couldn't utter a complete sentence. A large amount of blood blocked his throat, spilling from the corner of his mouth.
"It's too late now."
Menma's arm, gripping Obito's neck, bulged with veins. Obito's expression grew pained and resentful, his limbs struggling violently.
After a few cracking sounds, a loud pop rang out.
The light vanished from Obito's eyes, his writhing limbs falling limply to his sides. A large amount of blood splattered on the ground, followed by his head, which rolled to the ground in front of the stunned Kakashi.
"Alright, done."
Menma casually tossed the corpse to the ground. After glancing at the dumbfounded Kakashi, he left a sentence and disappeared into the Kamui dimension.
"If you want to see him again, learn the Impure World Reincarnation yourself, or ask Sasori for help. But I don't recommend you get too close to this traitorous scum."
