Chapter 20 - Purgatory Difficulty

Correct, it floated over just like a ghost.

Seeing Lucien's appearance, the Goblin Warrior immediately launched an attack toward him.

Spirit of the Goblin Warrior

Level: 8

HP: 6000

MP: 2000

Attack Power: 500

Physical Defense: 500

Magic Defense: 400

Skills: Soul Body, Wraith Roar.

Soul Body: [Passive Skill] The physical body has perished, leaving only a Soul Body; damage taken from physical attacks is halved.

Wraith Roar: Deals 50 + Attack Power damage to enemies in front, with a 10% chance to stun the enemy for one second.

Description: A monster formed from the lingering resentment of one who was slain, subsequently corrupted by demonic energy.

Looking at this Spirit of the Goblin Warrior, its attributes were significantly higher in attack and defense compared to Hell Difficulty.

However, its health was somewhat lower.

Furthermore, this monster posed a massive challenge for players relying on physical attacks.

That 500-point defense alone was abnormal enough.

He estimated that most players probably wouldn't be able to break its defense even after reaching level ten.

And that passive skill halved the damage taken from physical attacks on top of that.

Breaking defense was already hard enough, and now damage was halved? How is anyone supposed to play this!

Even Lucien felt a headache looking at that high magic resistance of four hundred.

His own Magic Power was only 582 points, which meant a single Soul Fire Talisman would only deal a bit over two hundred damage.

And this was just the lowest-level Goblin Warrior.

Lucien didn't even dare to imagine whether he'd be able to break the defense if he encountered the BOSS.

Watching the monster rush over, Lucien commanded his zombies to step forward and attack.

With the zombies drawing aggro, Lucien didn't hesitate and cast a Soul Fire Talisman.

-900 [Critical Hit]

-500

-500

-565

Four consecutive damage numbers popped up from the monster's body.

In an instant, a third of the monster's health vanished.

Seeing the four damage numbers, Lucien couldn't help but be stunned.

This damage isn't right!

Even with a critical hit, shouldn't I only be dealing four hundred-plus damage?

How is a normal hit dealing over five hundred damage now?

He looked at the Thousand-Year Peach Wood Sword in his hand and suddenly realized.

He had actually forgotten the special traits of the peach wood sword earlier.

+50% damage to undead creatures

+20% Soul Fire Talisman damage

Because when he was farming Goblin Warriors earlier, they weren't in a spirit state.

He had forgotten about it for a moment.

Furthermore, the level-up of his Soul Fire Talisman had also increased its damage significantly.

That was why it dealt such terrifying damage.

Thinking of this, Lucien now felt there was a very high possibility of clearing the purgatory difficulty of the Goblin Forest.

He followed up with another Soul Fire Talisman, and another string of excessive damage popped out.

The health bar of the Spirit of the Goblin Warrior was instantly emptied.

"Ding, congratulations, you have killed a Spirit of the Goblin Warrior."

This spirit didn't drop anything, which made Lucien feel a bit unaccustomed for a moment.

Normally, it should at least drop a little bit of money!

But this monster actually had nothing.

Lucien continued deeper into the forest, and monsters became more numerous.

After a series of battles, he finally cleared all the Spirits of the Goblin Warriors without taking a scratch.

However, these Goblin Warriors still dropped nothing.

It seemed that the purgatory difficulty dungeon didn't drop items.

Next were the Goblin Mages. The Goblin Mages gave Lucien only one feeling.

And that was they were even easier to kill. Their attack power was indeed strong, but their health and defense were far inferior to the warriors.

In most cases, a single Soul Fire Talisman could instantly kill a Goblin Mage.

There was no helping it; having Multiple Spellcasting allowed him to be that willful.

Combined with high Luck, almost every cast of Soul Fire Talisman would deal more than six instances of damage.

In other words, Lucien's attack power was effectively increased by at least five times.

After half an hour, he finally saw the BOSS.

Ghost of the Goblin Princess

Level: 10

HP: 100,000

Attack: 2000

Defense: 300

The skills hadn't changed much, there was just an additional Soul Howl.

But it was completely useless against Lucien.

It only took three minutes for her to be ganged up on and killed by Lucien.

As the Goblin Princess died once more, the entire dungeon shook.

"Ding, congratulations on clearing the purgatory difficulty Goblin Forest. Initial attributes +3."

"Ding, congratulations, the quest is complete. Reward: Unique Hidden Class Scroll."

"Ding, you have cleared the highest difficulty of the Goblin Forest. From now on, you will receive 10% of all money earned by players who clear the Goblin Forest. You can toggle this on or off at any time!"

Hearing the system prompts, Lucien was dumbfounded.

He was originally complaining that this purgatory difficulty didn't drop any items.

But now it seemed he had been too narrow-minded; his perspective was too small.

It turned out that clearing the purgatory difficulty Goblin Forest provided such generous rewards.

The Hidden Class Scroll went without saying; that was a reward from his hidden quest.

But that +3 to all initial attributes was different.

This could increase his future ceiling.

If he added the one point from the previous system reward to these three, his initial attributes were as high as 24 points.

This was more than double what others had. If he gained one more point in the future, then every time he leveled up, all his attributes would increase by 5 points.

Him leveling up once would be equivalent to others leveling up twice!

And that final reward—there were tens of thousands of newcomers entering the game every day, and almost everyone would come to farm the dungeon.

He could actually get a 10% cut while doing absolutely nothing.

Wouldn't gold coins just come pouring in by the handfuls in the future?

Whatever items a BOSS dropped were just trivial matters.

After all, no matter how good the equipment was, this was only a low-level dungeon.

The equipment dropped here would eventually be obsolete.

But gold coins would never be obsolete.

Unfortunately, the dungeons in each country's Novice Village were different; otherwise, he could have fleeced the entire world.

Wouldn't his gold coins have been skyrocketing then?
