As she was walking ,Adriana noticed it again, that uneasy feeling that something bad was about to happen.
Or was it just her paranoia?
She started walking , not sure of the direction she was headed in.
After walking the corner she saw him again. The same person that was before .
The person that was staring for a second too long but now, he was staring for some full minutes.
Unaware, Adriana had fully stopped walking and was now looking at that strange person with a million questions in her head ; "Why her?" "What was so special about her that attracted dangerous people?"
As she was lost in her thoughts and her eyes didn't fully work in those moments, she didn't see the man heading towards her.
With each step he took, he got a little faster and that was when Adriana finally snapped back to reality and saw him.
Instinctively ,she started running like her life depended on it - because it actually did.
The man started running too and he was chasing her for a block when Adriana decided to take a turn and surprisingly , somebody dragged her into a black SUV .
She thought that was it.
That was the end of her life that she didn't get to live fully. She was thinking about all the times she wanted to do fun stuff and she didn't do any of it.
Adriana started crying hysterically and begging for them not to kill her but she didn't see any of them and when she finally opened her eyes the man sitting in front of her said:
"Miss calm down , we will explain everything eventually but firstly, you need to know we aren't the ones that are trying to hurt you. We are the ones who will protect you and for now we are going to take you to a safe place so you can rest."
"What? But who-"
"As I said we will explain everything when the time comes."
"So you're not kidnapping me?"
"No miss. We are just protecting you."
"What do you mean by "we"?, you're the only one that's talking to me."
"Well I'm not the one who knows you miss, I've just been ordered to do this."
"By who?"
"Enough questions for today, don't you think?"
Adriana stayed silent after that.
Except when she asked for the guy's name and he introduced himself as Larry.
After what felt like a few hours they arrived at a massive mansion on top of a mountain.
Larry made her call her close friends and parents and tell them she was going on a trip and not to call her . Then he threw her phone out the window.
So now, Adriana was stuck in the middle of nowhere with a random man who claimed he would be her "personal butler" for some time and surrounded by people with guns on their waist and with a million questions on her head.
So you could say she wasn't at her peak but somehow surviving.
They gave her a massive room which honestly, was even bigger then her own room.
It even had a massive bathroom and a hot tub and for a moment she thought : "Well I mean they did give me a room that looks like a penthouse so I might as well enjoy it."
And she did. She got into the hot tub then took a shower and even had fresh clothes in the walk-in closet that were exactly her size and a ton of fancy bags and jewellery.
Adriana was confused but didn't complain.
She wore some pyjamas and just laid on the massive bed , looking at the ceiling , she was mesmerised by the huge painting .
It was a baby Cupid that was shooting love arrows into the clouds.
Adriana was so caught up into the painting that she didn't notice that someone was knocking on the door.
When she finally did, she said:
"Come in!"
It was Larry, he had brought her what looked like a five-star meal.
"Dinner is served." Larry said in his monotone voice.
"Does this have shrimp? I'm allergic to it."
"No miss, master made sure of that beforehand."
"Interesting" Adriana muttered under her breath,
"Thank you, Larry."
"Of course. If you need anything just ring the bell" he pointed to a small bell on the bedside table.
"Will do."
After Larry left she ate in silence and kept wondering about who this "master" was.
She was thinking about everything that had happened to her these past few days. Starting from Adam's disappearance leading up to this moment.
She kept thinking and thinking and slowly everything was starting to make sense.
She started crying. The type of crying where you can't breathe and wondering why everything was happening to her.
Then, just like that, she fell asleep.
Leaving another puzzle unsolved.
But everything will unravel soon.
