Dio understood Jack's intention immediately. He was very familiar with Jack's tamashii—the monster that could wipe out every Defense Position monster on the opponent's field.

"This won't satisfy anyone, Jack."
From the sidelines, Kiryu shook his head, seemingly disappointed by Jack's choice.
"Huh? Why not?"
Dole turned to him in confusion, but Kiryu gave no answer. He simply kept his eyes fixed on the duel.
"Now, the stage is set!"
Jack paid no attention to the commentary from the sidelines. All of his focus was on the duel before him, and his voice rang out with rising intensity.
"I tune my Level 3 Tuner monster, Dark Resonator, with Invasion Worm, and the Level 4 Embodiment of Apophis!"
"The king's thunderous might will be made manifest here and now! Behold the force that shakes heaven and earth!"
Jack spread his arms wide.
"Synchro Summon! My soul—Red Dragon Archfiend!!!"
A pillar of light shot skyward, and scorching, violent flames swept outward in all directions.
Then a demonic dragon clad from head to toe in crimson armor descended with a roar.
Its savage head was crowned by three horns, the central one thrusting upward as though it might pierce the heavens themselves. Its entire body radiated the overwhelming aura of a tyrant.
Red Dragon Archfiend / Synchro / Dragon / DARK / Level 8 / ATK 3000 / DEF 2000
The pressure rolling off it was immense. Dio could clearly feel the terrifying power contained within this monster.
This was Jack Atlas's ace—the famed "King's Soul" of the anime.
Too bad it was only worth 250 yen.
"Battle!"
Jack wasted no time and went straight into the Battle Phase.
"Red Dragon Archfiend, attack the Defense Position Scrap Golem! Crush it beneath your absolute might—Absolute Powerforce!"
Red Dragon Archfiend let out a deafening roar. A blazing breath of dragonfire mixed with raw destructive force engulfed Scrap Golem in an instant.
The Golem's sturdy refrigerator-like main body melted beneath the raging flames and impact, finally dissolving into a pool of glowing molten metal before vanishing.
"And because Red Dragon Archfiend destroyed a Defense Position monster by battle, I can activate its effect!"
Jack pressed the attack, shouting loudly,
"Destroy every Defense Position monster on my opponent's field! Take this—Demonic Meteor Burst!"
Red Dragon Archfiend threw back its head, and countless meteors burning with deep crimson fire rained down from the sky. They slammed with perfect accuracy into the lone Scrap Kong remaining on Dio's field. Kong struggled briefly beneath the fiery meteor shower before it too was blasted into scrap.
"But Scrap Factory's effect activates!"
Dio's calm voice rang out.
"When a face-up 'Scrap' monster on my field is destroyed by a card effect and sent to my Graveyard, I can Special Summon 1 'Scrap' monster from my Deck!"
Jack's expression changed abruptly.
Damn it.
He had been so focused on Synchro Summoning and pressing the attack that he had momentarily forgotten about that annoying Field Spell effect.
The mechanical arms of Scrap Factory immediately sprang into motion again, collecting the remains of Scrap Kong, which had just been destroyed by Red Dragon Archfiend's effect, and feeding them into the production line.
Before long, a brand-new Scrap Kong, identical in every way, was assembled and placed onto Dio's field.
"Actually... it doesn't make much difference."
Looking at Jack's darkened expression, Dio tried to offer an objective analysis.
"Whether you used Earthquake to force my monsters into Defense Position or not, wouldn't I have ended up with this one Level 4 monster left on my field either way?"
But to Jack—already desperate to win—those words sounded full of mockery, and his face grew even uglier.
"Damn it..."
Jack gritted his teeth and forced himself to calm down.
The field had at least been partially pulled back. His ace monster was now on the board, and its attack power held an absolute advantage. A lone 2200-ATK monster could never overcome it.
Even if Dio Synchro Summoned, very few monsters could surpass Red Dragon Archfiend in raw power.
"Main Phase 2. I equip my Red Dragon Archfiend with this Equip Spell—Mist Body!"
A pale mist wrapped itself around the demonic dragon, cloaking its body in a haze that would keep it from being worn down.
"As long as this card is equipped, that monster cannot be destroyed by battle," Jack explained.
"Then I end my turn."
Jack glanced at the final card left in his hand and clenched it tightly.
That was his trump card—his hope for a comeback next turn.
Watching Red Dragon Archfiend and Mist Body on Jack's field, Dole felt a vague unease rising in his chest.
Equipping battle destruction protection was certainly a solid play, but he knew that Dio's Synchro Monster that had yet to appear—Scrap Dragon—could pose a tremendous threat to Jack's field.
"Then it's my turn."
Dio declared calmly and drew from the top of his deck.
After a quick glance at his hand and the state of the field, he had more or less confirmed victory in his mind—unless Jack just happened to be holding something like Battle Fader, Kuriboh, or Gorz the Emissary of Darkness.
But in Satellite, in this era, the odds of a hand trap that rare existing in Jack's hand...
Were low.
Still, just to be safe, he would finish this in the most reliable way possible.
"I Normal Summon Scrap Beast."
Scrap Beast let out a low growl like grinding metal.
Scrap Beast / Tuner / Beast / EARTH / Level 4 / ATK 1600 → 1800 / DEF 1300 → 1500
"A Tuner monster—here it comes!"
Jack immediately tensed up, though at this point there was little he could do except clutch the card in his hand tighter.
"I tune my Level 4 Tuner monster, Scrap Beast, with my Level 4 Scrap Kong!"
Dio's voice rose.
"From the barren ruins where scrap is born—show me your indomitable will! Synchro Summon!"
"Appear—Scrap Dragon!"
Scrap Dragon opened its massive mouth of welded steel plates and released a roar that shook the entire arena.
The gale produced by that roar forced Jack to raise an arm in front of his face instinctively.
Squinting through the wind, he looked at the newly summoned Synchro Dragon—
And saw that, under the boost from the Field Spell, its attack power had likewise reached 3000.
Scrap Dragon / Synchro / Dragon / EARTH / Level 8 / ATK 2800 → 3000 / DEF 2000 → 2200
"So its attack is equal to my Red Dragon Archfiend now..."
Jack said in a low voice, but immediately shot back,
"But even so, it still can't destroy my Red Dragon Archfiend, which is equipped with Mist Body and can't be destroyed by battle!"
"In that case, I'll equip Scrap Dragon with this Equip Spell."
Completely unhurried, Dio placed a card from his hand into his Spell and Trap Zone.
"Smoke Grenade of the Thief."
