Chapter 2 - Chapter -2, Who is the best?

"Finally... You stupid, what were you even babbling in sleep, now go and get ready," My mother said, "Since you have already taken the bath, just wear your clothes and leave."

"Sure," I replied, My voice defeated. I was still grieving the loss of such a beautiful dream. I was hungry but I guessed it would be dangerous to ask for breakfast.

I reached the village's centre where the kids, who were ready to embark on their journey to the Capital of the kingdom, were gathered with their parents to hear the cheif's speech. I spotted my friend, Dhruv, among them, who was just like me was here without his parents.

"Hehe...i thought you weren't going to come," he said giggling.

"Why wouldn't I? Afterall I am the best archer there is," I said.

"Huh...", His eyes narrowed, "Time will tell who is the best, and who's the losser."

"Sure, Time will."

"So the dear kids of our village, you are our hope, hope of those who have been wronged. I announce you that your efforts will not be in vain," said the chief. His crown without hair, and his eye balls protruding out a little, "The Great King has finally seen us, that we too are his subjects like others and has granted this golden opportunity to send you, our kids, into the army of the kingdom," he continued.

"What this old fart bablling about?" I inquired Dhruv.

"Just how we should be grateful to the benovalent king...i am pretty sure...someone from the capital is in the crowd, or if I am wrong he is just dumb."

"Well, He has seen all the wronges too, so there might be someone."

"This is our opportunity to show the king that how much loyal we are to the race," He said with quite an emphasis on loyalty.

"Duh...he is practically crying," I remarked silently, It made Dhruv laugh.
