"Eddie, this place is way too loud. I really don't like it. Can't you go drink somewhere quiet?"
In a bar, a man named Eddie Brock sat quietly in a corner drinking while enjoying the death rock being performed by the live singer.
If he had not bonded with the thing inside his body, he probably would have spent every day hanging around places like this.
After all, he was currently an unemployed drifter.
In his original world, he had been a social issues reporter who cared about the safety of ordinary people, including the homeless, and exposed the crimes of major corporations. But he was still a total loser.
Before all this, he had even had a beautiful, wealthy girlfriend with an amazing figure. But because he had nothing better to do, he secretly looked through her emails and tried to break a big story. In the end, it backfired. Both he and his girlfriend were fired, and even though they had already been engaged, they broke up. From then on, he completely fell apart and became a loser.
Whether that was deserved or karma, who knew?
After returning to his rundown apartment, he spent every day drowning his sorrows in alcohol, hanging around bars and watching the women dance under the lights while punk rock bands screamed their hearts out on stage. There were a few moments when he really wanted to live in a bar forever.
However, the kindness buried in his bones still drove him to expose injustice and protect public safety.
In order to save a homeless woman named Donna, whom he had only recently met, he broke into the Life Foundation alone. Then the thing inside him bonded with him.
And that guy called himself Venom, an alien symbiote.
But Venom was also a complete loser on his own planet.
Their meeting was like the union of two losers.
Unexpectedly, it produced an unexpected effect.
At first, Eddie was not used to it at all, because most of the time, Venom would use his body to go out and feed.
To maintain life, symbiotes needed a special substance, and that substance happened to exist in human brains. Because of that, Venom loved biting off people's heads.
But symbiotes had one trait: they amplified a person's desires. Eddie Brock, this loser, actually had the greatest wish of becoming a hero. As the saying went, the good became better, and the evil became worse. No one had expected that the combination of these two would become so strangely righteous.
Of course, Eddie did not allow Venom to eat people, because this guy used his body to do it, and Eddie could also feel that subtle sensation. Deep down, it made him sick.
Most of the time, he would buy several packs of chocolate from a convenience store to temporarily suppress that craving.
Maybe chocolate also contained a small amount of the energy Venom needed to survive.
However, Venom was not the only symbiote to visit Earth. Another symbiote named Riot had also arrived on Earth, and it came to America, found Doctor Drake from the Life Foundation, and the two immediately hit it off. Riot wanted to return to the symbiote homeworld and bring countless companions to Earth to bond with humans, which was exactly what Doctor Drake had always wanted to do.
But Venom did not want that to happen. Since he was a relatively weak loser among his own kind, he could still act impressive on Earth. But once thousands upon thousands of his companions arrived, he would no longer stand out. Meanwhile, Eddie wanted to protect Earth from invasion. Finally, the two reached the same goal and began a battle of alien symbiote against alien symbiote.
Fortunately, Venom and Eddie's combination ultimately won. But just when Venom wanted to help Eddie win his girlfriend back, a rift in the world appeared.
Then the two of them were sent to this strange world.
This place looked like New York in America, but it was also completely different from what Eddie remembered. As someone who often read science fiction novels, Eddie knew that he had probably come to a parallel universe through some kind of dimensional force.
"You saw yesterday's news too. It seems like another version of you exists in this universe. I'm wondering if there might also be another version of me in this universe."
"If there's another me in this world, does that mean their relationship is the same as ours? I know myself too well. I come to this bar all the time, so I believe he'll come here too."
After Eddie finished a glass of vanilla tequila, he picked up another glass of Bloody Mary from the table, held it under his nose, and smelled it with an expression of enjoyment.
"That's just a fake. Also, stop making that creepy face. You're embarrassing me too."
Venom communicated with Eddie mentally from inside his body, but Eddie could clearly feel that this guy was just being a tsundere.
After going through a battle to save the world, the two of them got along better and better. Eddie felt that continuing to live in symbiosis like this was not bad.
The only problem was that whenever he thought about getting married and having children, Venom would be watching everything from a first-person audience perspective. That gave Eddie a headache.
"Hey, if you keep thinking about that nonsense, do you believe I'll bite your head off? Stupid human creature, symbiotes don't have genders."
"So you can be male or female? No wonder... What would the female version of you look like?"
Eddie said with great interest, and then his mind started wandering again.
"What the hell, Eddie? Are you that desperate now? Are you seriously starting to think I look attractive?"
"If your body was good enough, I wouldn't mind covering your face."
"Go to hell, Eddie! How did I end up with a host like you? I see you as a comrade, and you want to sleep with me?"
At that moment, Venom's voice roared angrily inside Eddie's mind. Even he did not know what sin he had committed to encounter such a bizarre host.
But unfortunately, this bizarre host had an extremely high compatibility with him. If it were someone else, even a mutant or a human with magic, they might not necessarily be able to release his power properly.
But Eddie absolutely could.
"Wait, this strange feeling..."
Suddenly, Eddie's body shivered uncontrollably. He had experienced this feeling before. Back in his own world, he had felt this discomfort when encountering other symbiotes. That meant this universe also had symbiotes, and there was a high chance it was the other Venom from the phone news.
Venom said nothing, because he had also sensed the presence of one of his own kind. And the other party seemed to share the same origin as him, like another version of himself.
At the entrance of the bar, an ordinary-looking man appeared. The man walked straight to the counter and ordered a glass of vanilla tequila.
"Hey, isn't that the prison guy? Back here drinking again?"
No one knew which unlucky idiot suddenly said that, but it made the man drinking with his head lowered suddenly look up.
"You'd better keep that mouth of yours clean. Otherwise, I don't mind stuffing it full of trash."
The man spoke coldly.
"You don't still think you're some big reporter from the Daily Bugle, do you? Eddie Brock!"
"What righteous reporter? That's all crap! A girl killed herself because you ran your mouth without taking responsibility. Wasn't that your mistake? If Spider-Man hadn't found the real criminal, that girl still wouldn't have gotten justice! You spent a year in Ryker's Island and still haven't learned a thing!"
A red-haired man with a tongue piercing threw an arm around this world's Eddie Brock and spoke with extreme mockery.
At the mention of Spider-Man, Eddie could not suppress his hatred.
Spider-Man was clearly just a rookie kid, so why had he been able to earn such a huge reputation?
Eddie angrily blamed everything on Spider-Man, on that person called Peter Parker.
Because of him, Eddie had lost his job and gotten divorced from his wife. Now, he was not even allowed to see his daughter.
Everything was Spider-Man's fault.
But he had never thought about the fact that Spider-Man had only solved the case after Eddie had already been sent to prison. Could it be that from beginning to end, the problem had always been Eddie himself?
Sitting in the corner, Eddie Brock opened his mouth in surprise. He had only come here to try his luck and have a drink along the way. He had not expected his luck to be this good. He had directly run into the person he was looking for.
The version of himself in this world actually had blond hair, and he was much younger than him. What was even more infuriating was that this guy had already been married, while Eddie had only just gotten back together with his girlfriend and had not even taken things further yet.
Damn it. Comparing yourself to others really could drive a person mad.
Still, there was at least one thing Eddie was better at. He would never casually judge someone's good or evil. After all, starting a rumor only took one mouth, but clearing someone's name could take endless effort.
As a reporter, it was very easy to steer public opinion in the wrong direction. If that caused irreversible consequences, who could bear that responsibility?
"He has my scent on him."
After a long silence, Venom spoke inside Eddie's mind.
Every symbiote had its own unique scent, and Venom was naturally familiar with his own smell. Although there were slight differences, that was indeed his scent. And there was also a symbiote fluctuation on the other party's body.
"So that means this guy is the same as us?"
"I don't know."
Bang!
Suddenly, this world's Eddie slapped the table and stood up. He directly grabbed the other man by the collar and lifted him with one hand.
"What... what are you doing?"
The red-haired man said in panic.
He truly had not expected that even though the other man did not look as strong as him, he could lift him with one hand, and he seemed to do it with ease.
"I told you, shut your filthy mouth. Otherwise, I'll stuff it full of trash."
This world's Eddie's action startled everyone in the bar, but no one dared step forward to stop him.
That was America. If it had nothing to do with them, they stayed out of it.
This world's Eddie carried the red-haired man to a trash can, pinched his jaw to force his mouth open, and with his other hand, grabbed garbage from the trash can and shoved it into the man's mouth without another word. His methods were forceful, without the slightest hesitation.
"Does it taste good?"
He asked indifferently while moving faster, not caring at all about the screams and strange looks from the people around him.
He seemed very angry.
