Chapter 10 - The Game She Never Ended

Night.

Silence filled the house.

The kind of silence that feels… watched.

Aanya and Kaito were asleep.

Peaceful.

As if nothing had happened.

Ren stood alone in the living room.

The broken locket in his hand.

"…A locket…"

"…With a destroyed photo…"

He sat down slowly.

His eyes sharp now.

No laziness.

No jokes.

"…That glow earlier…"

He picked it up again.

Carefully.

"…That wasn't normal."

He rotated it under the light.

Front.

Back.

Edges.

Then—

He stopped.

"…What is this…"

A tiny crack inside the inner frame.

Too precise.

Too unnatural.

Ren narrowed his eyes.

"…No way…"

He went to his desk.

Grabbed a small toolkit.

"…Let's see…"

Piece by piece—

He started opening the broken parts.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Click.

Something shifted.

A small component dropped into his palm.

Ren froze.

"…A camera…"

Silence.

Heavy.

"…And I never noticed…"

His expression darkened.

"…So you've been watching me…"

He looked at it closely.

Even broken—

It still had structure.

Purpose.

"…Not cheap either…"

He smirked slightly.

But his eyes—

Cold.

"…Then let's talk."

He adjusted the broken camera.

Fixed the loose connection roughly.

Enough to function… maybe.

Then he lifted it.

Straight in front of his face.

"…I know you're watching."

Silence.

"…Or at least… you were."

His voice dropped.

Dangerously calm.

"…Who are you?"

No response.

"…How do these kids have my blood?"

His grip tightened.

"…Why send them to me?"

A pause.

"…And the most important thing…"

His eyes sharpened.

"…Do I know you?"

Silence.

But this silence—

Felt like someone was listening.

"…Or…"

"…Did someone erase my past?"

The air itself felt heavier.

"…Answer me."

Nothing.

Ren stared at the lens for a few seconds.

Then—

"…Fine."

His expression changed.

Cold.

Sharp.

"…If you won't answer…"

"…I'll find you myself."

And then—

CRACK!

He crushed the camera completely in his hand.

Pieces fell to the floor.

Dead.

"…Game over."

Somewhere else—

A dark room.

Quiet.

A mobile screen flickered—

Then went black.

A girl sat in front of it.

Her face hidden in shadows.

Silence.

Then—

She smiled.

"…You noticed faster than I expected."

Her voice soft.

Calm.

Dangerous.

"…Ren…"

She leaned back slowly.

"…I knew your skills wouldn't disappoint me."

Her fingers lightly tapped the table.

"…So you've started playing…"

A pause.

"…Good."

Her smile deepened slightly.

"…Because this game…"

"…never ended."

A memory—

Not his.

Not fully clear.

But something…

Echoing.

Two children.

A boy.

A girl.

Laughing.

"…Let's play a game!"

"…What game?"

"…We both give something precious…"

"…Then hide it."

"…And meet again later to get it back!"

"…How long?"

"…One day!"

Laughter.

Innocent.

Pure.

But that memory—

Twisted.

Distorted.

"…What if we make it longer?"

"…How long?"

Silence.

"…Ten years."

Back to present—

The girl slowly stood up.

"…I already made my move."

"…I gave you what was mine."

A soft whisper.

"…Our children."

Her eyes faintly visible now—

But still unclear.

"…Now it's your turn…"

"…to come find me."

Back in the house—

Ren stood still.

Looking at the broken pieces on the floor.

"…Ten years…"

He didn't know why—

But that number…

Felt heavy.

"…Why does it feel like…"

"…I've heard that before…"

Silence.

Somewhere deep inside—

Something was waking up.

Not memories.

But instincts.

🔻 Hidden Hint (as you said, subtle):

The female lead isn't just hiding… she's continuing a childhood game they both created—where they exchange something precious and meet again after a set time.

But now… the time limit isn't one day.

It's 10 years… or maybe even more.
