The weekend arrived without pressure.
For once, Kang Min didn't wake up to a call. No sudden interruption, no message pulling him back to work.
The apartment felt lighter.
Ji Won stepped out of her room, adjusting her hair as she walked into the living area.
"You're already dressed?" she asked.
Kang Min picked up his keys.
"We're going out."
She narrowed her eyes slightly.
"You didn't cancel?"
"No."
She stared at him for a second, then let out a small laugh.
"That's new."
"Get ready," he said.
A few minutes later, they stepped outside together.
At the Amusement Park
The moment Ji Won saw where they were, she stopped walking.
"…seriously?"
Kang Min kept moving.
"You coming?"
She quickly caught up to him.
"You actually brought me here."
"You said you wanted to go."
"That was a long time ago."
"I remember."
She smiled without hiding it.
Inside, the place was alive with movement.
Music, laughter, the sound of rides starting and stopping—it all blended into something bright and energetic.
Ji Won looked around like she didn't want to miss anything.
"We're not wasting time," she said. "We're going on everything."
Kang Min glanced at one of the bigger rides.
"Not everything."
She turned to him immediately.
"You don't get to back out now."
"I'm not backing out."
"Good."
They started with the rides.
Ji Won dragged him from one to another, her energy never dropping.
Kang Min followed without complaining, even when the rides were faster than he preferred.
After one of the roller coasters, Ji Won stepped off laughing.
"That was amazing."
Kang Min walked beside her.
"It was fine."
She looked at him.
"You didn't even react."
"I was there."
She shook her head, smiling.
They continued moving through the park.
Tried games.
Missed some.
Won a few.
Ji Won insisted on trying until she got something.
When Kang Min stepped in and won easily, she gave him a look.
"You've done this before."
"No."
"You're lying."
"I'm not."
She took the prize anyway.
Time passed without them noticing.
Late Afternoon
They slowed down eventually, walking without rushing.
Ji Won held a drink in her hand, glancing around as if trying to take everything in.
"This was worth it," she said.
Kang Min nodded.
They found a place to sit for a while.
Ji Won leaned back slightly.
"You should take days like this more often."
"I'll try."
She gave him a look.
"You always say that."
He didn't respond.
She didn't push.
After resting, they stood up again and walked toward the exit as the sky began to change.
⸻
On the Way Home
The car moved steadily through the evening traffic.
Ji Won leaned her head slightly against the window, watching the city pass by.
For a while, neither of them spoke.
Then she broke the quiet.
"…we haven't gone in a long time."
Kang Min knew what she meant.
"No, we haven't."
She kept her eyes on the road ahead.
"We should go this year."
He nodded once.
"On his remembrance day."
She adjusted her position slightly.
"What do you think we should take?"
Kang Min thought about it.
"He liked simple things."
Ji Won smiled faintly.
"Food."
"Yes."
"Not anything expensive."
He agreed.
"That's fine."
She continued thinking out loud.
"We can take fruits."
"That works."
"And maybe something small… just something that feels normal."
Kang Min didn't interrupt.
She turned slightly toward him.
"I don't want it to feel too heavy."
He answered simply,
"It doesn't have to."
She nodded.
⸻
After a moment, she spoke again.
"Do you remember how he used to talk when we visited?"
Kang Min kept his eyes on the road.
"Yes."
"He never stayed quiet," she said.
"He always had something to say."
Kang Min gave a small nod.
"Even when it didn't matter."
Ji Won smiled to herself.
"He just talked anyway."
She let out a small breath.
"When we go this time… I think I'll talk too."
Kang Min listened.
"Not about anything serious. Just normal things."
He nodded slightly.
"That's fine."
She looked at him.
"What about you?"
Kang Min didn't answer immediately.
Then he said,
"I'll be there."
That was enough.
Ji Won nodded.
The rest of the drive was quiet, but not empty.
Back Home
They stepped into the apartment, the day settling behind them.
Ji Won placed the small prize she had won on the table.
"…today was really nice," she said.
Kang Min set his keys down.
She looked at him again.
"We should do this again."
"Alright."
She smiled, satisfied with that answer.
