Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 17: The Woman at the Top

Power, when worn long enough, becomes invisible.

People stop questioning it.

They just accept it.

The meeting room was already filled before she arrived.

No one spoke loudly.

No one relaxed.

Everyone waited.

Then the door opened.

Seo Eun Sang walked in.

Calm.

Elegant.

Unrushed.

Every movement deliberate, like she had nowhere else to be—because wherever she was, that place became important.

"Good morning," she said lightly, taking her seat.

The room responded in unison.

"Good morning, ma'am."

Files were opened immediately.

Presentations began.

"The quarterly report shows a steady increase in revenue," one of the executives said carefully. "However, the overseas branch is still experiencing delays—"

"Then reduce the delay," Eun Sang replied, flipping through the pages.

Her tone wasn't harsh.

But it wasn't a suggestion either.

"We're currently negotiating with—"

"Then negotiate better."

Silence followed.

Not uncomfortable.

Just… understood.

She continued reviewing the documents, her expression composed.

Every number made sense.

Every decision had direction.

Nothing in this company moved without her knowing.

After the meeting ended, the executives stood as she left.

Some bowed slightly.

Others simply stepped aside.

Respect came naturally around her.

In her office, the city stretched endlessly beyond the glass walls.

Seo Eun Sang walked in and placed her files neatly on the desk.

Everything was organized.

Clean.

Controlled.

Just the way she liked it.

Her assistant entered shortly after.

"Ma'am, you have a lunch meeting scheduled with the investors at—"

"Move it to tomorrow," Eun Sang said calmly.

"Yes, ma'am."

"And the media request?"

"They're asking for a statement regarding the company's growth after the transition of ownership."

Eun Sang paused briefly.

Then sat down.

"Prepare a formal response," she said. "Keep it simple."

"Yes, ma'am."

When the assistant left, the room returned to silence.

Eun Sang leaned back slightly in her chair, her gaze drifting toward the window.

The company had grown.

Stronger.

More stable.

More profitable.

Everything was exactly where it needed to be.

Her phone buzzed lightly on the desk.

She picked it up.

A short message.

A business contact confirming an upcoming deal.

Nothing unusual.

She set it back down without a second thought.

For a moment, she allowed herself to be still.

No meetings.

No decisions.

Just quiet.

Her gaze shifted briefly to a framed photo on the shelf.

A family portrait.

Perfectly arranged.

Perfectly presented.

She looked at it for a second longer than usual.

Then looked away.

A knock came again.

"Come in."

"Ma'am, your driver is ready."

Eun Sang stood, adjusting her coat smoothly.

"Good."

She picked up her bag and walked toward the door.

Outside, employees moved quickly, greeting her as she passed.

"Good afternoon, ma'am."

She acknowledged them with a slight nod.

Nothing more.

Nothing less.

At the entrance, the car door was opened for her.

She stepped in gracefully, the door closing behind her.

As the car pulled away, the building grew smaller in the distance.

But her presence—

Remained.

Inside the moving car, she closed her eyes briefly.

Just for a moment.

A rare pause in a life that never slowed down.

When she opened them again, her expression was the same as always.

Composed.

Unreadable.

Untouchable.
