"Fufufu, seems like we're lucky Seraphiel, we not only have an Elite Boss, but we have a rare monster in the midst."
Calux laughed amusedly.
Known beasts go from common, rare, elite, and epic.
Of course that's only by the known standards of S rank gates.
Of course Calux knew there was something above, considering Nyraxis was a Spirit Beast, which is probably one of the highest if not the highest rank.
What changes between ranks?
Skills, intelligence, and durability.
Although these beasts were of the same beast and rank, the rare beast probably had a skill or higher intelligence, it was evident since this beast stayed in the back as if commanding a legion of soldiers.
"It seems it is our lucky day Calux..."
Seraphiel snorted amusedly, but you could see the nervousness in her face.
There were a lot of beasts for just the two of them to face, and Calux didn't seem worried although he had Nyraxis as a back up he had not summoned her either.
Is he not worried?
She thought considering he was not looking worried at all, just amused.
Suddenly a big howl was heard in the cave, and it was a kind of sonic attack.
"Agh...", Seraphiel winced while she dropped to one knee on the floor.
"Well fuck that hurt.", Calux just cursed outwardly.
"Well it seems I have to deal with you first huh."
Seraphiel was going to ask what he meant, but suddenly she just heard him talk.
"Void steps."
Calux stepped out of Void Steps and stood a few feet from the rare beast that looked at him menacingly.
The beast used its skill again but this time it targeted only Calux, and it definitely hurt.
You could see some blood coming out of Calux's ears, which was a rare sight.
"Well that skill is definitely annoying huh, I don't have a way to counter it but it's fine."
With unhurried steps, Calux walked towards the beast.
Void Edge seemed to be ready to be used, as a humming sound was being transmitted by the sword, as if urging for Calux to do what he was about to do.
"See you later little pup."
"Void Slash."
The sword in Calux's hand started to glow a deep shade of purple, and the beast instinctively tried to step back but it was too late.
Calux gave a light step towards the beast and slashed diagonally splitting the beast in half in an instant.
Now, it's important to note that this all happened in the span of two seconds, the only one to react partially was Seraphiel who looked at the slain beast in shock.
She saw what happened with her own eyes, she knew the skills since after a few hours between the day before and this morning he had explained his skills to her and she had seen them in action the previous day, albeit on training dummies.
However, seeing a rare C rank beast being slain as if it were a piece of paper with one slash was still something unbelievable.
One has to understand that elements cause different types of damage on the skin of a beast.
If this would of been a C rank fire attack which was Calux's rank, this would of perhaps damaged the beast, but because of its hide and fur, it wouldn't of gotten incinerated which would of been the one hit kill that Calux achieved.
For ice, a C rank awakener didn't have any skills capable of completely freezing a beast in one go.
Lightning could have incapacitated it for a few seconds, or caused burns like fire but not kill either.
That is why, after seeing Calux casually cut the beast in half thanks to both his sword and element, she was sure that this man was going to be a menace going forward to the academy.
There was probably no one of their generation capable of actually beating him if he used his element, and it was very probable he could win with his sword alone.
The rest of the beasts had not had a chance to react and were waiting for their 'leader' to act and kill the prey they were here to kill, but that is not what happened.
Calux looked back, and a smile was plastered on his face.
"Ready to play little wolves?"
He void stepped to the front of two wolves that were closer to him, and since they were so close together he decided to use Void Slash again, essentially being able to Void Slash going from one head of the left wolf to the right of the wolf to the right.
Thud.
Thud.
Two bodies hit the floor at the same time, a single void slash was able to take out both beasts at the same time.
Now only eight wolves remained.
Seraphiel had already gotten out of her shock and was fighting against a wolf while two of her constructs were each fighting passively against a wolf each, while the crossbow construct was fighting and moving around evading the wolf that was trying to destroy it.
The other four beasts were facing Calux with menacing stares that wanted to wholly destroy Calux.
This human had killed not only their leader but also two of their pack in the span of a few seconds and he looked at them amusedly.
Calux shook his sword to clean the blood of the beasts and looked at them with an innocent face.
"It's four of you, one of me. Can't you take me on?"
He taunted the beasts, and as if they understood, they barked menacingly.
Saliva dripping on the floor, fangs turned against him.
All four roamed around him like sharks encircling a piece of fish.
Suddenly, they all attacked from different sides.
Little did they know that Calux had spatial awareness for a 1km radius, and there was nothing that could escape his awareness in this area.
He dropped to the floor, rolled around and slashed the legs of one of the wolves, cutting both of its front legs.
Before it could fall down, he turned his sword upwards, impaling the wolf in his sword.
He void stepped behind one of the three remaining wolves and slashed him, gutting its insides from the back towards the upper half of its body.
The remaining two wolves now looked at him cautiously, but the instinct of corrupted beasts with low intelligence was always to attack first, therefore deciding to attack together, they slashed their paws in an X motion towards Calux's body.
Calux, gave a back flip, giving him some space, void stepped towards the wolf on his right, and thrust his sword from the bottom of its mouth towards its head, killing it instantly.
Taking the sword out of the wolf and cleaning it with a simple movement like before, he walked calmly towards the remaining wolf.
"Is that fear I smell?"
Calux spoke to the wolf that didn't dare to attack after the members of its pack were slaughtered by this man in front of him.
When the beast was about to turn and run towards the remaining members of its pack to avoid getting killed alone, all it could see before it was decapitated was the human it thought was behind him, suddenly appearing on his left, and slashing his sword to its neck, separating it from his body.
"Few, this sword is extremely good, I'm so thankful to aunt for the gift."
His aura suddenly changed to a more gentle one after the battle, and he looked towards Seraphiel.
If the beasts that just died to this man could see the face he had now, they would ask themselves, 'Is this the same man? Why isn't he acting so blood thirsty now?!'
Hm, she's doing good, she hasn't gotten injured, the constructs alone against a C rank beast, although not doing much damage are still fine in theory and that talks a lot about her control.
... I'll let her finish them off as a part of training, nothing will happen to her with me here.
Calux walked towards a boulder, and sat down to observe the battle happening below.
