Chapter 46 - EXECUTIVE

The phone line went dead with a sharp click. Thomas ended the call in a fit of rage, leaving only the quiet dial tone echoing across the outdoor stone terrace. Mason reached forward and pressed the button to turn the speaker off. He picked up his mobile phone and slipped it back into his tailored jacket pocket.

I sat in my iron chair and looked across the white tablecloth. The morning air felt much warmer now that Harrison was gone. We had broken the main pillar of his uncle's corrupt alliance, and we knew Thomas would not accept his defeat with grace.

"He sounded very desperate on the phone," I noted while I placed my hands on the table. "He knows Harrison betrayed him, so he understands he lost his majority for the board vote."

"Thomas is desperate, and desperate men make reckless mistakes," Mason agreed in a serious tone. "He cannot rely on the senior board members anymore, so he will try to rally his remaining allies before the news spreads through the company."
