Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Nothing goes unnoticed

Not knowing what to order, Connie took it upon herself to choose their drinks from the menu while Aimee quietly browsed the selection of food and snacks.

When their orders arrived, Aimee could hardly contain herself. She quickly grabbed her fork and began gobbling down the beef nacho fries, taking mouthfuls of chips and beef while a bit of sauce lingered at the corner of her lips.

" Beef never disappoints", Aimee murmured enjoying herself with the food while letting her friend beside her mesmerized by her so called 'prince'.

On the other table, where no one dared to cross, the elite seated comfortably taking their drinks whilst talking to each other but the only one with the sharpest ear in the room heard every word breathed by everyone around. He remained unfazed and gave little to no concern to anyone.

He was seated there with his one leg crossed over the other and arms rested over the armrest of the couch. the first two buttons of his onyx shirt were left unbuttoned, taut muscles peeping through. His other hand swirling the red liquid inside his drinking glass.

"Beef never disappoints." Amidst the loud chatter around him, his ears perked up at the whisper carried by a soft voice from a fair distance away. He had stopped swirling his drink and noticed a glint of the girl's reflection through the glass he was holding.

Of all the people chattering around and filling the place with lewd and illicit conversations, this one seemed to care only about her ground beef. Slightly tilting his head, he lazily observed her, as though wondering why a sheep was silently munching on its forage in a wolf's den.

Taking a sip of the red liquid he heard his cousin Matthew asked, "Do you guys still feel its presence here? I think its gone."

"I couldn't feel it too. But we all saw it enter this place seconds before us. How did it vanish so fast?." Missy agreed to her red-haired twin. "We don't even know what it transformed into, might be a woman."

"Hmmm. If it had already transformed, we would still be able to sense its ghoul presence. But all I can smell here is the stench of filthy humans." Simon remarked, his forehead creased.

Rayden shifted his gaze from the naive lamb, turning his attention to the people around. Keenly searching for the ghoul that had undoubtedly shapeshifted into someone to camouflage itself.

Due to extreme animosity towards the creature Vampires had been hunting and killing Ghouls that lurk every corner. Where if it continue to rise, vampire existence is either wipe out or destroyed, for their nature turns the same darkness into a uncontrollable feud. Ghouls have been rising to create an army to wipe out humans and replace vampire preeminence. And they have gone to extent of soul-reaping humans to attain more power and strength stability.

His gaze wandered quietly around the room until something suddenly caught his eye, the sommelier. If one did not look closely, they would not notice that he was younger than the age permitted to be serving liquor in a place like this.

When the sommelier turned toward his direction, he stiffened beneath the Vampire's unwavering gaze. He looked away quickly and started to walk toward the cellar. His steps were measured and too controlled, yet undeniably faster than necessary. The actions did not go unnoticed by Rayden's sharp eyes, a smirk crossed his face. "I was wondering why this blood suddenly turned bland. I must check their cellar myself to see if they are keeping the fresh ones, must I not?" making his way toward a corridor leading down to the cellar.
