"Where. Were. You. Going?!"
Nyx's voice cut through the night air like a blade.
His hand remained firm on Faelyn's shoulder. His red eyes burned into hers, demanding answers she couldn't give.
Faelyn opened her mouth.
The words stuck.
Then everything tilted sideways.
Her vision blurred. Nyx's face doubled. The dwelling entrance smeared like wet paint left in the rain.
Her knees buckled.
'What—'
She grabbed for his arm. Tried to say "help" but nothing came out. Just a choked sound that barely counted as breathing.
The anger vanished from Nyx's face.
"Faelyn?" His voice sharpened. "Faelyn, what's—"
Her legs gave out.
He caught her. Arms wrapping tight around her waist. Pulling her against his chest.
"FAELYN!"
'Puffball?' Panic flooded her thoughts. 'PUFFBALL?!'
[Fur, I don't know what's—]
The voice CUT OFF.
Like someone had sliced through a rope.
