Chapter 43: The Dragon-Slayer's Breath

The screen didn't just flicker; it bled. The "Hakai" blast had left the rooftop of Onigashima looking like a glass-blasted wasteland. The world watched in a silence so thick it felt like the air had been sucked out of every room from East Blue to the Grand Line.

Kaido and Big Mom stood amidst the steam, their shadows towering like gods of a dead world. But as the smoke cleared, the camera zoomed in on a single, blood-soaked boot digging into the cracked stone.

Zoro was standing. His shirt was gone, revealing a torso that looked like it had been carved from marble and then smashed with a sledgehammer. Every breath he took sounded like a wheeze of broken glass. His arms were shaking so violently that the swords clattered against each other, but his grip—that iron grip—never loosened.

Kaido landed a few feet away, his dragon-eyes narrowing. "You're still standing after that? You've broken every bone in your body, brat. Just lie down and die."

Zoro didn't answer. He couldn't. He slowly raised the Wado Ichimonji to his mouth. The Enma in his right hand began to shriek, a purple, hungry aura swirling around it. He wasn't just using Haki; he was offering his life-force to the blade.

Suddenly, the air distorted. The space around Zoro began to ripple and tear. A ghostly image appeared behind him—two extra heads, four extra arms. The demonic silhouette of Asura loomed over the rooftop.

"Nine-Sword Style... Drawing Technique..." Zoro's voice was a guttural snarl that echoed through the broadcast. "Asura: Bakkei Moja no Tawamure!" (Dead Man's Game)

The world watched as the "Demon" lunged at the "Dragon." It wasn't a fight; it was a blur of silver and black lightning.

> [Sengoku]: "SQUEAK! (That's not just a technique! Look at the lightning coiling the blades! That's Conqueror's Haki! Roronoa isn't just a swordsman—he's a King! SQUEAK!)"

> [Dracule Mihawk]: "To use the 'Color of the Supreme King' unconsciously while your body is failing... You've truly stepped into the realm of the monsters, Roronoa. The throne is finally within your sight."

> [Kaido]: (Present Day) "WORORORO! A scar? He's going to leave a scar on me?! Linlin, look at the brat! He's trying to do what Oden did!"

> [Rocks D. Xebec]: "VOHAHARARA! LOOK AT THE DRAGON BLEED! THE SWORDSMAN CUT THE SCALES! THE WORLD IS TURNING UPSIDE DOWN!"

>

On the screen, Zoro collided with Kaido. The sound wasn't a clang; it was a sickening thump of steel meeting legendary flesh. For a fraction of a second, the two were frozen. Then, a massive spray of blood erupted from Kaido's chest—a jagged, deep wound that mirrored the one Oden had left twenty years ago.

Kaido staggered back, coughing up blood. "You... you have it too? The King's ambition?"

Zoro didn't reply. He collapsed. His swords fell from his hands, and he hit the ground like a fallen statue. He had given everything. He was a hollow shell of a man, his spirit spent.

Just as Big Mom raised her blade to finish the "broken wings," a shadow moved.

Luffy, who had been unconscious throughout the exchange, suddenly stood up. His eyes weren't the eyes of the boy from Sabaody; they were cold, focused, and radiating a pressure that caused the floating island of Onigashima to groan.

He didn't look at the Emperors. He looked at Zoro, lying in a pool of blood.

"Zoro... Sanji... thanks," Luffy whispered. "I've got the rest."

Luffy stepped forward, his fist coiling with the same black lightning Zoro had just used. He struck Kaido's jaw without even touching him—Advanced Conqueror's Haki. The impact sent the Dragon Emperor flying into the ruins.

Law, seeing the window of opportunity, didn't hesitate. His fingers snapped into a "Room" that covered the entire rooftop.

"Luffy-ya! We're leaving!"

"SHAMBLES!"

In a flash of blue light, the tattered remains of the Worst Generation vanished. The screen panned over the empty rooftop, where only the two bewildered Emperors remained, staring at the spot where a cook and a swordsman had just defied the heavens.
