The figures burst into the clearing, and my stomach dropped when I saw who was leading them, a tall guy with silver hair and cold eyes that I recognized from B class, one of Serena's admirers who'd made it very clear he thought commoners didn't belong at the university.
"Well, well," he said, his voice dripping with disdain as his eyes landed on me and then swept over our team. "Looks like we're not the only ones who found this relic. What a shame."
His team spread out behind him... five people, just like us, all looking ready for a fight.
"We got here first," Malachi said calmly, but I could hear the steel in his voice. "The relic is ours."
"I don't think so, Your Highness," the silver-haired guy said with a mocking smile. "See, the way I understand the rules, the relic belongs to whoever can take it. And we're going to take it."
